2010 NFL Draft E-mails – Bradford, Locker, Mallett
I just saw that NFL Draft Countdown’s mock has Sam Bradford with the first pick. What do you think about that? I personally think it is crazy….
–> First, I’d like to say that I really respect Scott and his Web site. He was one of the pioneers in the Internet NFL Draft craze, so many of us owe a lot to him.
That being said – thanks, Larry David – I have to disagree with it. I really don’t see how Bradford goes ahead of Jimmy Clausen.
As “Gentlewoman” Corrine Brown would say, “Let’s do a quick fack check:”
Now that our “quick fack check” is over, there’s only one more thing to say:
Go Gata.
Dude, did you just rip Jake Locker for returning to school? Since when did deciding to remain in college become the worst thing you could do?
He came to UW to be a program-changing QB. Now he has some unfinished business and he’s coming back. Sounds like he doesn’t want to bail on his team before they have a winning season. Isn’t that loyalty? And isn’t that a good thing?
And you talked about how he wasn’t “immersed” in football. Have you watched this guy? He turned down being drafted in MLB to play at UW. From everything that’s been said, he’s been one of the most attentive and coachable guys on the team. And he just came back from an injury-filled winless year to play this season, and never once hung his head about it.
I apologize, but I fail to see how he’s not immersed or not motivated. (By the way, Peyton Manning was projected as a top-5 pick after his junior season and came back for his senior year). If you want to argue football skills, fine. But I would like to understand your reasoning?
–> Jake Locker can do whatever he wants. I’m just telling you how that decision will impact his NFL future and income.
I’m telling you what I know, and NFL GMs will frown upon his decision to return. They’ll begin wondering and speculating why he went back. They’ll worry if he’s not completely dedicated to football. They’ll have more of his tape to break down and criticize.
Remember these names: Matt Leinart, Brian Brohm, Brady Quinn, Sam Bradford. All were quarterbacks who were projected top-five prospects who returned to school. The following year, they were drafted lower and made less money (Bradford will be the latest guy).
Locker will just be the next name on this list.
You finally come off a quarterback for the Browns in the 1st round and then you have them taking one in the 2nd round????
As silly as it was having Cleveland taking a franchise quarterback to replace Brady Quinn who has no proven talent around him you have them taking a 2nd round quarterback???? Wrong wrong wrong.
They will build around Quinn, not replace him. Apparently you missed the previous four games where he committed no turnover and was the only playmaker the Browns have on the offensive side of the ball….
Do your research before posting your nonsense. If every Browns fan is emailing you saying you are incorrect with a quarterback pick then guess what…..you are.
–> New regimes mean new quarterbacks. That’s a fact.
I received similar e-mails from hundreds of Lions fans last year who didn’t want Matthew Stafford. Well, look what happened.
It’s not a matter of IF the Browns take a quarterback; it’s a matter of WHOM they will draft to fill the position.
Brady Quinn stinks. I’ve watched every Browns game this year, and he’s garbage. His downfield accuracy is depressing. He will never quarterback a winning team in the NFL.
No Colt McCoy in the top 3 rounds?
What do you think are the odds of Miami snatching Tebow before Jacksonville can? I think Miami would be the best NFL fit for him with the wildcat offense, plus the marketing alone staying in Florida.
What about Seattle taking a QB early in the first round, I think Hasselback belongs in the glue factory along with Bulger.
–> Colt McCoy’s not much of an NFL prospect. He’s small and has no arm strength, and he can’t make reads.
Miami’s not a bad landing spot for Tebow. I could see that happening if the coaching staff doesn’t like Pat White.
Now that Tim Ruskell won’t be back. I think Seattle will take a QB in the first round if one presents enough value (i.e. Sam Bradford early on or Ryan Mallett with their second pick).
I am a student at the University of Arkansas, and wonder how Jake Locker’s decision to stay will affect Ryan Mallett’s decision to enter the 2010 NFL Draft.
–> Ryan Mallett should enter the draft now. He could be the next Mark Sanchez – a guy who really sees his stock soar because a quarterback didn’t enter the draft.
Mallett’s raw, but has a ton of upside. Someone could fall in love with him – especially an owner in Oakland who loves to feast on raw meat and goat blood. Not naming any names here.
