2014 NBA Draft Scouting Report: Doug McDermott
Position: Small Forward
Size: 6-8, 225
School: Creighton, Senior
Strengths:
Weaknesses:
Summary: McDermott has been one of the best 4-year college players in recent memory. When all is said and done, he will be a three-time First-Team All-American. McDermott can score the basketball from anywhere on the floor, but lacks the ideal NBA athleticism. Regardless, he should be a solid role player at the next level and figures to be a late lottery to mid-first-round pick and someone who should be contribute right away.
Player Comparison: Wally Szczerbiak. Szczerbiak was a solid complementary player during his NBA career, and that seems to be the ceiling for McDermott. Like Szczerbiak, the Creighton star is a deadly outside shooter, but leaves a lot to be desired in terms of his athleticism.
