Proctor’s Weight Could Weigh Him Down

The NFL is always looking for quarterback protectors and starting edge protectors. After starting at Alabama the past three seasons, Proctor is keeping a tradition alive of NFL tackle talent coming from the Crimson Tide. Like many before him, Proctor has good size, quickness, and athleticism. While Proctor is a talented player, team sources say that weight issues could be problematic for his draft grade.

“He has all the ability you could ask for,” said an AFC national scout. ”The weight is a big problem. If his weight was okay, he would be a top-10 pick. But with the weight issues, he might slide into the teens.”

Proctor is listed at 6-foot-7, 366 pounds, and sources say that he has had to work to get down around 360. Sources feel that Proctor will work hard to drop weight in the spring for the NFL Scouting Combine, pro day, and pre-draft visits. However, they feel that it could be a misleading number, and keeping his weight down could be a problem for Proctor in the NFL.

Over the past three seasons, Proctor has been a steady and reliable blocker for the Crimson Tide. After being a top recruit, he broke into the starting lineup in 2023 as a freshman. He did a nice job of protecting Jalen Milroe and helping Alabama reach the College Football Playoff. Proctor had some struggles with Michigan, and after the season, it seemed as though he was going to leave for money in the transfer portal. Eventually, Proctor was back at Alabama and had a solid 2024 season for the Crimson Tide. This year, Proctor has blocked and has been a steady protector for Ty Simpson.

Proctor is in the running to be the top offensive tackle prospect for the 2026 NFL Draft, and I have him going early in my my latest 2026 NFL Mock Draft. However, his weight is going to be an issue to monitor, and if he can’t control it, it could limit how good a pro he could be. Team sources feel the issue of Proctor’s weight could have a big impact on how high he goes next April.
