Season so far

Every game in order, Week 1 first. Opp. rank = where I had the opponent in my power rankings in effect at kickoff. Recaps are mine, word for word.

Opponent's group in my power rankings at kickoff: Group A Group B Group C Group D Group F

New England Patriots

Week 1Wed, Sep 9 at Seattle Seahawks Opp. rank #2Group A
L 10-13 Line +3 ATS: Push (0)

SEAHAWKS 13, Patriots 10 (SEA -3). Sam Darnold got hurt on the opening drive, and the Seahawks couldn't do anything offensively until the second half when the Patriots fell asleep at a late hour. A.J. Brown got hurt, while Drake Maye and Romeo Doubs made numerous mistakes.

Week 2Sun, Sep 20 vs. Pittsburgh Steelers Opp. rank #26Group D
W 20-3 Line -5.5 ATS: Covered (+11.5)

PATRIOTS 20, Steelers 3 (NE -5.5). The Patriots began this game with a turnover in the red zone, but they smothered Aaron Rodgers and forced him into two turnovers, including a strip-six. 327-235 NE, 6.2-3.5 NE

Week 3Sun, Sep 27 at Jacksonville Jaguars Opp. rank #9Group B
L 6-35 Line +3 ATS: Did not cover (-26)

JAGUARS 35, Patriots 6 (JAX -3). The Jaguars dominated from start to finish, as the Patriots repeatedly shot themselves in the foot. New England got its yardage in garbage time. 317-315 NE, 5.3-5.3 tie

Week 4Sun, Oct 4 at Buffalo Bills Opp. rank #2Group A
W 29-26 Line +6.5 ATS: Covered (+9.5)

Patriots 29, BILLS 26 (BUF -6.5). Drake Maye lost a fumble but was otherwise back to 2025 form with his passing and rushing. This was a back-and-forth game with the Patriots scoring late to go up three and then Josh Allen, missing D.J. Moore who got hurt, throwing an interception. 405-340 NE, 6.3-5.5 BUF

Week 5Sun, Oct 11 vs. Las Vegas Raiders Opp. rank #16Group C
W 45-17 Line -3.5 ATS: Covered (+24.5)

PATRIOTS 45, Raiders 17 (NE -3.5). The only mistake the Patriots made in this game was a Corey Kiner fumble. Otherwise, Drake Maye lit up the Raiders, and Kirk Cousins couldn't keep up at all with no help from the running game. 536-306 NE, 8.1-5.4 NE

Week 6Sun, Oct 18 vs. New York Jets Opp. rank #22Group D
W 26-19 Line -7 ATS: Push (0)

PATRIOTS 26, Jets 19 (NE -7). The Jets had a sloppy start in this game and fell behind double digits. They played better in the second half, but couldn't complete the comeback because they couldn't get off the field as the Patriots ran the ball down their throat with Corey Kiner. 426-412 NYJ, 7.2-6.1 NYJ

Chicago Bears

Week 1Sun, Sep 13 at Carolina Panthers Opp. rank #23Group D
W 59-37 Line -3 ATS: Covered (+19)

Bears 59, PANTHERS 37 (CAR +3). The Bears made a couple of mistakes to allow the Panthers to hang around. It was 21-all, but Chicago's offense was far too much for a Carolina defense that couldn't stop anything the opposition was doing. 552-478 CHI, 7.9-7.7 CHI

Week 2Sun, Sep 20 vs. Minnesota Vikings Opp. rank #21Group D
L 3-9 Line -4.5 ATS: Did not cover (-10.5)

Vikings 9, BEARS 3 (CHI -4.5). This was a windy and wet game where both offenses struggled. Caleb Williams got hurt in the fourth quarter. Tyson Bagent got the Bears close to winning, but couldn't complete the drive. 297-246 CHI, 4.8-4.2 MIN

Week 3Mon, Sep 28 vs. Philadelphia Eagles Opp. rank #12Group B
W 27-7 Line +4.5 ATS: Covered (+24.5)

BEARS 27, Eagles 7 (CHI +4.5). Case Keenum threw all over the Eagles secondary. Saquon Barkley ran well in the first half, but Barkley was given just four carries in the second half. 375-248 CHI, 5.4-5.3 CHI

Week 4Sun, Oct 4 vs. New York Jets Opp. rank #20Group D
W 23-12 Line -3 ATS: Covered (+8)

BEARS 23, Jets 12 (CHI -3). The Bears stalled at the goal line early with Tyson Bagent, but eventually got their act together and were able to win time of possession by 25 minutes. 492-157 CHI, 5.5-4.9 CHI

Week 5Sun, Oct 11 at Green Bay Packers Opp. rank #21Group D
L 7-31 Line -1.5 ATS: Did not cover (-25.5)

PACKERS 31, Bears 7 (GB +1.5). Jordan Love completed a million Hail Marys in this game despite getting nothing from his running game, while Tyson Bagent was so bad that he was benched for Case Keenum. 428-246 GB, 7.3-3.6 GB

Week 6Sun, Oct 18 at Atlanta Falcons Opp. rank #17Group C
W 31-23 Line PK ATS: Covered (+8)

Bears 31, FALCONS 23 (ATL PK). The Bears got out to a 31-7 lead in this game with great Caleb Williams passing and some turnovers forced on Atlanta. The Falcons got garbage time and made this game interesting very late, but Chicago's defense shut the door on Michael Penix Jr. 368-257 CHI, 5.1-5.0 ATL
