2013 NBA Draft Scouting Report: Trevor Mbakwe
Position: Power Forward
Size: 6-8, 245
School: Minnesota, Senior
Strengths:
Weaknesses:
Summary: The sixth-year forward Mbakwe is what he is at this point of his career: a terrific rebounder who doesn’t mind mixing it up down low. There is always a spot for that type of player at the next level in a reserve or complementary role, which is why Mbakwe projects to being an early second-round pick who could sneak into the late first round.
Player Comparison: Lavoy Allen. Allen has carved out a niche in the NBA due to his physical style of play down low and knack for crashing the boards. That will be Mbakwe’s calling card at the next level as well. Both guys are strong and physical, and play with high motors; but are limited in their offensive abilities.
