2013 NBA Draft Scouting Report: Allen Crabbe

Position: Shooting Guard

Size: 6-6, 210

School: California, Junior

Strengths:
  • Smooth stroke from the outside
  • Three-point shooter
  • Mid-range game
  • Stepback jumper
  • Plays well off the ball
  • Catch and shoot ability
  • Rebounds well for his position
  • Good size for an NBA two guard
  • Leaping ability

  • Weaknesses:
  • Ball handling
  • Assertiveness attacking the basket
  • Too often settles for jump shots
  • Physicality
  • Label of being soft

  • Summary: If there is one thing Allen Crabbe has proven; it’s that he has a sweet stroke from the outside and can catch fire with his perimeter shot. The fact that Crabbe also has good size for a shooting guard at the next level makes him a borderline first-round pick.

Player Comparison: Dorrell Wright. Though Crabbe isn’t quite as tall as the 6-9 Wright, both guys are wirey, lengthy, and make their biggest impact with their three-point shooting ability. Wright has been a quality role player like Crabbe figures to be at the next level with a lack of strength and aggressiveness attacking the basket holding him back from even bigger things.
