The Lou Groza Award is given to the best kicker in college football. Last year’s winner was Maryland’s Brad Craddock.

Lou Groza Award Winner:

Roberto Aguayo, Florida State

This isn’t much a stretch as Aguayo won the award 2 years ago. He easily could have been the choice to repeat. The last time a kicker won the Groza Award to straight seasons was Florida State’s Sebastian Janikowski.

In 2014, Aguayo had an excellent sophomore season as he connected on 27-of-30 field goals. Not only was he incredibly accurate, Aguayo showed some distance as he was 3-of-4 in the 50+-yard range. He also made 6-of-8 in 40+-yard range. If Aguayo maintains that level of play, he could be a mid-round selection in his draft class. The junior looks like the best kicker in the nation entering the fall and the favorite for the Groza Award.

Lou Groza Award Runner-Up:

Andy Phillips, Utah

Phillips was 23-of-28 on field goals in 2014. He hit both attempts of 50 yards and was 10-of-13 in the 40+-yard range. He also was 17-of-20 as a freshman in 2013. Phillips has a strong, accurate leg and could be poised for a huge 2015 season. He is in the running to be the top kicker in the nation.

Lou Groza Award Dark Horse:

Marshall Morgan, Georgia

In 2014, Morgan made 16-of-21 attempts. He was three-of-six in the 40-yard range and made his only attempt over 50 yards. Morgan made 22-of-24 field goals in 2013. He was perfect on 47 extra points and made 17 field goals in a row. Morgan was First-Team All-SEC selection that year. He also showed some power with field goals from 55 and 56 yards out. Morgan definitely is capable of winning the Groza Award.

Honorable Mentions: LSU’s Kolby Delahoussaye, South Carolina’s Elliott Fry, Arizona State’s Zane Gonzalez, Duke’s Ross Martin, TCU’s Jaden Oberkom, UCLA’s Ka’imi Fairbairn and San Jose State’s Austin Lopez.
