  1. Darrelle Revis, CB, Patriots. Age: 30.
    Signed with Jets

New England declined to pick up Darrelle Revis’ $20 million option, making him a free agent. Revis now becomes the top player available, though it sounds like he’s deciding only between the Patriots, Jets and Bills. Revis was absolutely dominant in 2014, rebounding from a relatively down season in Tampa in which he was asked to play a scheme that didn’t suit his skills. He turns 30 in July, but he’s still capable of shutting down any receiver he goes up against.

  2. Brandon Flowers, CB, Chargers. Age: 29.
    Re-signed with Chargers (4 years, $36 million)

I have no idea what the Chiefs were thinking by putting Brandon Flowers into a scheme that didn’t fit his strengths. He used to be a Pro Bowl-caliber cornerback for them, and he regained that status this past season in San Diego.

  3. Antonio Cromartie, CB, Cardinals. Age: 31.
    Signed with Jets

Antonio Cromartie was banged up in 2013, so he had to take a 1-year “prove it” deal with the Cardinals. He definitely showcased how good he was, playing as one of the top cornerbacks in the NFL until a late-season ankle injury slowed him down.

  4. Kareem Jackson, CB, Texans. Age: 27.
    Re-signed with Texans (4 years, $34 million)

Kareem Jackson showed up to training camp overweight in 2013 and struggled as a consequence. He lost those pounds this past season and thrived as a consequence. He played well this year, though he missed a few games with a knee injury.

  5. Byron Maxwell, CB, Seahawks. Age: 27.
Signed with Eagles (6 years, $63 million)

Byron Maxwell stepped into the starting lineup in the middle of last season and never looked back. Another tall corner (6-1), Maxwell continued to play well in 2014.

  6. Tramon Williams, CB, Packers. Age: 32.
Signed with Browns (3 years, $21 million)

Tramon Williams played on a high level throughout his career. He continued to thrive in 2014, but he’s 32 as of March, so he could slow down soon.

  7. Chris Culliver, CB, 49ers. Age: 27.
Signed with Redskins (4 years, $32 million)

Chris Culliver missed all of 2013 with an ACL tear, but managed to play well this past season, surrendering a 50.7 completion percentage to opposing receivers.

  8. Perrish Cox, CB, 49ers. Age: 28.
Signed with Titans (3 years, $15 million)

Perrish Cox barely played from 2011 to 2013, as he was mired in off-the-field issues. He finally took the field for the majority of the snaps in 2014 and was successful, save for a poor stretch in the middle of the season. Cox is a starting-caliber cornerback, but I wouldn’t trust him to stay clean off the field.

  9. Tarell Brown, CB, Raiders. Age: 30.
    Signed with Patriots

Tarell Brown was an excellent cornerback for the 49ers over several seasons. He took a 1-year deal to play for the Raiders, and was just slightly sub par, as he didn’t get much help from his pass rush. Brown is 30, and his best days are behind him, but he’s still a good starter.

  10. Brandon Browner, CB, Patriots. Age: 31.
    Signed with Saints

Brandon Browner’s first season outside of Seattle wasn’t a successful one, at least not on a personal level. Browner was inconsistent in coverage, but more notably was whistled for a ridiculous 19 penalties, including the playoffs, despite missing the first six games of the season. He turns 31 in August.

  11. Rashean Mathis, CB, Lions. Age: 35.
    Re-signed with Lions (2 years, $3.5 million)

Rashean Mathis somehow continues to play at an extremely high level despite his age. Mathis was exceptional in 2014, but turns 35 in August, how much longer can he keep it up?

  12. Walter Thurmond III, CB, Giants. Age: 28.
    Signed with Eagles (1 year)

Walter Thurmond had a quality 2013 campaign with Seattle, but barely got to play this past year because of a torn chest he suffered in September.

  13. Patrick Robinson, CB, Saints. Age: 27.
    Signed with Chargers (1 year)

Patrick Robinson was torched early in the 2014 season, but he performed much better when asked to handle nickel duties.

  14. Zachary Bowman, CB, Giants. Age: 30.
    Signed with Dolphins

Zachary Bowman, who has played well over the past two seasons, would’ve started at corner this year if he wasn’t stuck behind two talented players.

  15. Robert McClain, CB, Falcons. Age: 27.
    Signed with Patriots

Robert McClain was a solid nickel corner in 2013, but regressed this past year, particularly when he was forced outside in the wake of injuries.

  16. Darius Butler, CB, Colts. Age: 29.
    Re-signed with Colts

Darius Butler is a solid nickel corner. The downside with him is that he’s played all 16 games only once.

  17. Sterling Moore, CB, Cowboys. Age: 25.
    Signed with Buccaneers

Sterling Moore barely played in 2013, but had to start numerous games this past season. He was a big surprise, handling himself relatively well in coverage.

  18. Antwon Blake (RFA), CB, Steelers. Age: 25.
    Re-signed with Steelers (1 year, $1.5 million)

Antwon Blake played more as the 2014 season progressed. He had some nice outings, particularly against Baltimore in a Sunday night affair. Just 25 in August, Blake will be able to make some improvements to his game.

  19. Kyle Arrington, CB, Patriots. Age: 29.
Signed with Ravens (3 years, $7.5 million

The release of Kyle Arrington is a surprise, given that Darrelle Revis and Brandon Browner weren’t properly replaced this offseason. The 5-foot-10 Arrington struggles on the outside, but he has had success as a nickel corner.

  20. Cary Williams, CB, Eagles. Age: 30.
Signed with Seahawks (3 years, $18 million)

Cary Williams wasn’t incompetent like his former teammate Bradley Fletcher, but his horrible attitude brought down the locker room a bit. Every team should be cautious when considering this poisonous player.

  21. Alan Ball, CB, Jaguars. Age: 30.
    Signed with Bears

Alan Ball played well in 2013 before struggling a bit this past season. He missed the second half of the year with a torn bicep.

  22. Carlos Rogers, CB, Raiders. Age: 34.
Carlos Rogers is a 34-year-old coming off a knee injury. His days are numbered, but he can still be a solid third corner for a season or two.

  23. Buster Skrine, CB, Browns. Age: 26. — Signed with Jets (4 years, $25 million)
  24. Davon House, CB, Packers. Age: 26. — Signed with Jaguars
  25. Terence Newman, CB, Bengals. Age: 36. — Signed with Vikings (1 year)
  26. Sherrick McManis, CB/ST, Bears. Age: 27. — Re-signed with Bears (1 year)
  27. Brice McCain, CB, Steelers. Age: 28. — Signed with Dolphins (2 years, $5.5 million)
  28. Anthony Levine (RFA), CB, Ravens. Age: 28. — Re-signed with Ravens (2 years)
  29. Cortland Finnegan, CB, Dolphins. Age: 31. — Announced retirement
  30. Josh Gordy, CB, Colts. Age: 28. — Signed with Giants
  31. Jimmy Wilson, CB/S, Dolphins. Age: 29. — Signed with Chargers (2 years)
  32. Josh Wilson, CB, Falcons. Age: 30. — Signed with Lions
  33. Shareece Wright, CB, Chargers. Age: 28. — Signed with 49ers (1 year, $4 million)
  34. Leonard Johnson (RFA), CB, Buccaneers. Age: 25. — Re-signed with Buccaneers
  35. E.J. Biggers, CB, Redskins. Age: 28. — Signed with Eagles
  36. Chris Cook, CB, 49ers. Age: 28. — Re-signed with 49ers (1 year)
  37. Tony Carter (RFA), CB, Broncos. Age: 29. — Tendered by Broncos
  38. Chris Owens, CB, Chiefs. Age: 28. — Signed with Lions
  39. Kyle Wilson, CB, Jets. Age: 27. — Signed with Saints
  40. Bradley Fletcher, CB, Eagles. Age: 29. — Signed with Patriots (1 year)
  41. Charles Tillman, CB, Bears. Age: 34. — Signed with Panthers
  42. Phillip Adams, CB, Jets. Age: 27. — Signed with Falcons
