Fantasy Football Start Em, Sit Em

Fantasy Football: Start Em, Sit Em: Week 2

Rather than quickly listing start em and sit em players on my Week 2 NFL Picks page, I thought I'd devote a new page for this. Follow @walterfootball for updates.

New York Giants (0-1) at Washington Redskins (0-1)

Start Em:
  • Obvious Starts:
    NYG: None.
WAS: RB Antonio Gibson, WR Terry McLaurin, TE Logan Thomas, Redskins Defense.

    Sit Em:
  • Giants Offense
The Giants' offense is a mess. Saquon Barkley is limited, so I wouldn't trust him. Sterling Shepard is OK, but meh.

New Orleans Saints (1-0) at Carolina Panthers (1-0)

    Start Em:
  • Marquez Callaway, WR, Saints
I expect Marquez Callaway to rebound now that he doesn't have to deal with Jaire Alexander.

  • Obvious Starts:
    NO: RB Alvin Kamara.
CAR: RB Christian McCaffrey, WR D.J. Moore.

    Sit Em:
  • Robby Anderson, WR, Panthers
Robby Anderson barely saw any targets last week.

Houston Texans (1-0) at Cleveland Browns (0-1)

    Start Em:
  • Kareem Hunt, RB, Browns
Both Cleveland backs can be started in this favorable matchup.

  • Obvious Starts:
    HOU: None.
    CLE: RB Nick Chubb.

    Sit Em:
  • Texans Offense
This is a much tougher matchup than the Jaguars. I have mild interest in Brandin Cooks, but that's about it.

  • Odell Beckham Jr., WR, Browns
Odell Beckham Jr. was ruled out.

Cincinnati Bengals (1-0) at Chicago Bears (0-1)

    Start Em:
  • Ja'Marr Chase, WR, Bengals
So much for those drops! Ja'Marr Chase can be used versus Chicago's weak cornerbacks.

  • Obvious Starts:
    CIN: RB Joe Mixon.
CHI: RB David Montgomery, WR Allen Robinson.

    Sit Em:
  • Tee Higgins, WR, Bengals
Make sure Tee Higgins is OK before you use him because he sat out overtime last week.

Las Vegas Raiders (1-0) at Pittsburgh Steelers (1-0)

    Start Em:
  • Obvious Starts:
    LV: TE Darren Waller.
PIT: RB Najee Harris, WR Diontae Johnson, WR Chase Claypool, Steelers Defense.

    Sit Em:
  • Josh Jacobs and Kenyan Drake, RBs, Raiders
Josh Jacobs was ruled out. I'm not much of a fan of Kenyan Drake.

Buffalo Bills (0-1) at Miami Dolphins (1-0)

    Start Em:
  • Devin Singletary, RB, Bills
Devin Singletary can be started as long as Zack Moss is a healthy scratch.

  • Obvious Starts:
BUF: QB Josh Allen, WR Stefon Diggs, WR Cole Beasley (PPR).
    MIA: Dolphins Defense.

    Sit Em:
  • Myles Gaskin, RB, Dolphins
There's no guarantee that Myles Gaskin will shoulder a significant workload, and this is a difficult matchup anyway.

  • Dolphins Passing Attack
There are so many mouths to feed with Will Fuller returning, I have no idea where Tua Tagovailoa will go. These are GPP plays only in DFS.

Los Angeles Rams (1-0) at Indianapolis Colts (0-1)

    Start Em:
  • Obvious Starts:
LAR: WR Robert Woods, WR Cooper Kupp.
    IND: RB Jonathan Taylor.

    Sit Em:
  • Michael Pittman and Zach Pascal, WRs, Colts
Carson Wentz barely looked in Michael Pittman's direction last week, and I wouldn't chase Zach Pascal's two touchdowns.

San Francisco 49ers (1-0) at Philadelphia Eagles (1-0)

    Start Em:
  • Elijah Mitchell, RB, 49ers
Fire up Elijah Mitchell if you picked him up.

  • DeVonta Smith, WR, Eagles
The 49ers suddenly have severe issues at cornerback with Jason Verrett sidelined.

  • Obvious Starts:
SF: WR Deebo Samuel, TE George Kittle, 49ers Defense.
PHI: RB Miles Sanders, TE Dallas Goedert.

    Sit Em:
  • Brandon Aiyuk, WR, 49ers
Brandon Aiyuk was benched last week for some reason.

Denver Broncos (1-0) at Jacksonville Jaguars (0-1)

    Start Em:
  • K.J. Hamler, WR, Broncos
Expect to see more of K.J. Hamler with Jerry Jeudy sidelined.

  • Obvious Starts:
DEN: TE Noah Fant, Broncos Defense.
    JAX: WR D.J. Chark.

    Sit Em:
  • Courtland Sutton, WR, Broncos
I wouldn't trust Courtland Sutton until he proves that he's 100 percent.

  • Trevor Lawrence, QB, Jaguars
This might be Trevor Lawrence's toughest game of the year.

  • Jaguars Running Backs
Urban Meyer is one of the few people who still thinks Carlos Hyde can play in the NFL.

New England Patriots (0-1) at New York Jets (0-1)

    Start Em:
  • Corey Davis, WR, Jets
Zach Wilson was targeting Corey Davis frequently in the preseason, which translated to Week 1.

  • Obvious Starts:
    NE: RB Damien Harris.
    NYJ: None.

    Sit Em:
  • Nelson Agholor, WR, Patriots
I wouldn't chase Nelson Agholor's stats from last week.

  • Jets Running Backs
    Too many cooks.

Minnesota Vikings (0-1) at Arizona Cardinals (1-0)

    Start Em:

  • Obvious Starts:
MIN: RB Dalvin Cook, WR Justin Jefferson, WR Adam Thielen.
ARZ: QB Kyler Murray, RB Chase Edmonds, WR DeAndre Hopkins, Cardinals Defense.

    Sit Em:
  • No one of note

Atlanta Falcons (0-1) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-0)

    Start Em:
  • Obvious Starts:
ATL: WR Calvin Ridley, TE Kyle Pitts.
TB: QB Tom Brady, WR Mike Evans, WR Chris Godwin, WR Antonio Brown, TE Rob Gronkowski.

    Sit Em:
  • Mike Davis, RB, Falcons
It's impossible to run on the Buccaneers.

  • Buccaneers Running Backs
This group is way too crowded to count on anyone being very productive.

Tennessee Titans (0-1) at Seattle Seahawks (1-0)

    Start Em:
  • Obvious Starts:
TEN: RB Derrick Henry, WR A.J. Brown.
SEA: QB Russell Wilson, RB Chris Carson, WR D.K. Metcalf, WR Tyler Lockett. Sit Em:
  • No one of note

Dallas Cowboys (1-0) at Los Angeles Chargers (1-0)

    Start Em:
  • Justin Herbert, QB, Chargers
Justin Herbert goes from battling the Redskins' elite defense to the Cowboys' horrible unit.

  • Mike Williams, WR, Chargers
With Justin Herbert having more time in the pocket, Mike Williams is able to benefit.

  • Obvious Starts:
DAL: QB Dak Prescott, RB Ezekiel Elliott, WR Amari Cooper, WR CeeDee Lamb.
LAC: RB Austin Ekeler, WR Keenan Allen.

    Sit Em:
  • No one of note

Kansas City Chiefs (1-0) at Baltimore Ravens (0-1)

    Start Em:
  • Obvious Starts:
KC: QB Patrick Mahomes, RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire, WR Tyreek Hill, TE Travis Kelce.
BAL: QB Lamar Jackson, RB Ty'Son Williams, TE Mark Andrews.

    Sit Em:
  • Mecole Hardman, WR, Chiefs
Mecole Hardman was drafted highly in some mocks I did this summer. I don't think he's a good player.

  • Latavius Murray, RB, Ravens
Latavius Murray stinks, so you'll need to bank on a touchdown.

Detroit Lions (0-1) at Green Bay Packers (0-1)

    Start Em:
  • Marquez Valdes-Scantling, WR, Packers
Marquez Valdes-Scantling saw seven targets last week, so he's worth a shot versus the Lions.

  • Obvious Starts:
DET: RB D'Andre Swift, TE T.J. Hockenson.
GB: QB Aaron Rodgers, RB Aaron Jones, WR Davante Adams.

    Sit Em:
  • Lions Wide Receivers
Jared Goff is spreading the ball around so much when going to wide receivers.
