Carson Beck - Scouting Report Featured Image

Virginia Tech vs. Miami; Friday, Sep. 27, 7:30 PM ET ESPN

The Prospects:

Virginia Tech
  • QB Kyron Drones, No. 1
  • CB Mansoor Delane, No. 4
  • CB Dorian Strong, No. 44
Miami
  • QB Cam Ward, No. 1
  • RB Damien Martinez, No. 6
  • WR Sam Brown, No. 11
  • WR Xavier Restrepo, No. 7
  • DE Akheem Mesidor, No. 3
  • LB Francisco Mauigoa, No. 1

The Matchups:

There is a very good draft matchup in this game, with the Hokie cornerback tandem of Delane and Strong taking on the Hurricanes’ passing attack. Ward is a pro prospect, so it will help him show he’s effective while throwing against two quality corners. It will be interesting to see who gets the better of creating separation or blanketing coverage between Brown and Restrepo, taking on Delane and Strong.

  • G Quinn Carroll, No. 77
  • QB Max Brosmer, No. 16
  • RB Darius Taylor, No. 1
  • DE Jah Joyner, No. 17
  • CB Justin Walley, No. 5
Michigan
  • RB Donovan Edwards, No. 7

  • RT Andrew Gentry, No. 75
  • TE Colston Loveland, No. 18

  • S Makari Paige, No. 7

The Matchups:

There is an excellent draft matchup in this game with Michigan edge rusher Josaiah Stewart taking on Minnesota offensive tackle Aireontae Ersery. Stewart just dominated against USC and he could be the toughest speed rusher that Ersery will see all season. This tape is going to be critical for Ersery’s draft grade.

Kentucky vs. Ole Miss; Saturday, Sep. 28, 12:00 PM ET ABC

The Prospects:

Kentucky
  • DT Deone Walker, No. 0
  • LB Jamon Dumas-Johnson, No. 2
  • CB Maxwell Hairston, No. 1
Ole Miss
  • QB Jaxson Dart, No. 2
  • WR Juice Wells Jr., No. 3
  • DT Walter Nolen, No. 2
  • DE Princely Umanmielen, No. 1
  • LB Khari Coleman, No. 23
  • CB Trey Amos, No. 9
  • CB Isaiah Hamilton, No. 3
  • CB Louis Moore, No. 7

The Matchups:

Walker had a disappointing outing against South Carolina but rebounded against Georgia. The Wildcats need him to be disruptive and get after Jaxson Dart to have any shot of beating the Rebels. Kentucky’s defense was superb against Georgia and held Carson Beck in check, so it will be interesting to see how Dart performs against them. The Rebels have some good defensive prospects taking on a weak Wildcats offense with a vulnerable offensive line. This is a game where Nolen and Umanmielen can produce well.

  • OT Xavier Truss, No. 73
  • DE Mykel Williams, No. 13
  • DT Nazir Stackhouse, No. 78
  • DT Warren Brinson, No. 97
  • OLB Jalon Walker, No. 11
  • LB Smael Mondon Jr., No. 2
  • CB Daylen Everette , No. 6
  • S Malaki Starks, No. 24

The Matchups:

Milroe and Beck are quarterback prospects for the NFL and whichever claims the win in this game should have their draft stock benefit from winning a big game. Both Beck and Milroe have serious arm strength. Milroe is also a dangerous runner, and the Bulldog’s defense will test him. Williams and Walker are dangerous edge rushers with many talented defensive backs behind them, like Everette and Starks. It could be problematic for Milroe to run away from the Georgia athletes, so it will be fascinating to see if Milroe can do a good job of passing from the pocket. This is one of the best college games of the regular season, with a ton of early-round talent for the NFL on display.
