The Matchups:

There is a really good draft matchup in this game with Seaton taking on Pierre. Seaton looks like a future first-round pick, so it would really help Pierre to have some wins against him in the pass rush. The Alabama safeties are going to be tested by an elite receiving threat at tight end with Green. Both teams have a lot of NFL talent going head-to-head, so this will be an important tape for all the players on the field.

  • FS Tae Johnson, No. 9
  • SS Adon Shuler, No. 8

The Matchups:

A ton of NFL eyes are going to be on C.J. Carr and Darian Mensah in this game. Mensah looks like a sure-fire first-round pick next April while Carr has more to prove as this is going to be a massively important tape for him. He has beaten up on weak competition during his career, but is 0-3 against tough opponents. Thus, Carr needs to play well and show he can lead a team to essential wins. Notre Dame has to win this game to ensure they get a spot in the playoff, and losing to Miami again could cause them to be kept out of the playoff again. Mensah will be challenged by a tough Notre Dame defense that has a secondary comprised of NFL talent. Mensah has been superb this season, but he has not faced many good defenses, and this is the best secondary in the nation. It will be interesting to see how Mensah responds to the challenge.

In that secondary, there will be a great draft matchup with Leonard Moore and D.J. McKinney taking on Hurricanes sophomore receiver Malachi Toney. Toney is extremely fast and an explosive receiver who can score on any catch. Toney could be the most explosive player in college football, and he will challenge the deep speed of Moore and McKinney. Notre Dame hopes to have Tae Johnson back, and he is a first-round talent who will be tested by Toney. Mensah looks poised to be a first-round pick, and he is going to see a quality defense that is loaded in the secondary and difficult to pass against.
