2023 NFL Draft Stock Up
Devon Witherspoon, CB, Illinois
I have Witherspoon going in the top 20 of my 2023 NFL Mock Draft, and that looks like a lock after he ran in the 40s in the mid-4.4s at his pro-day workout. Witherspoon was outstanding last year, and he is a gritty cover corner who plays very physical football. While his size concerns some evaluators, Witherspoon could go in the top 10 and be the first cornerback taken in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Anton Harrison, OT, Oklahoma
Harrison has a chance to sneak into the end of the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft, and he should not last long if he falls to Round 2. There are teams that like his skill set and pass-protection skills, so even though he is not a very physical player, given the passing-driven NFL, there are going to be teams that will target a starting blind-side protector who can be reliably protect the quarterback. Harrison will probably go top 40 and should not get out of the second round in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Derick Hall, DE, Auburn
The 2023 NFL Draft features has some depth for edge rushers who will go on Day 2, and Hall is one of the top candidates among that group. Some team sources told WalterFootball.com that they like Hall more than other edge rushers like Georgia Tech’s Keion White or Notre Dame’s Isaiah Foskey. Hall could end up going very high in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
Matthew Bergeron, OT, Syracuse
In speaking with sources, they see Bergeron going in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft. The 6-foot-5, 318-pounder has good height and weight, including starting-caliber athleticism. He’s hurt due to having short arms – 33.75 – inches, but he looks like he could go in the top 60 in a few weeks.
Devon Achane, RB, Texas A&M
Achane was another player who team sources said would likely end up as second-round selection in the 2023 NFL Draft. He possesses game-breaking speed and a profile that could allow to make an impact as an outlet receiver, so he is well-suited for the passing-driven NFL. He could end up providing a big presence in terms of speed and playmaking ability as soon as his rookie season.
2023 NFL Draft Stock Down
Stetson Bennett, QB, Georgia
In my 2023 NFL Mock Draft, I do not have Bennett being selected in the first five rounds, for multiple reasons. Team sources have said they expect Bennett to slide into the late rounds and that character concerns are hurting Bennett around the league. Bennett also is undersized and has a backup-caliber skill set. While Bennett will always be a legend at Georgia, he could be in store for a long wait to get drafted.
Eli Ricks, CB, Alabama
Ricks has good size to him, but he is likely to go on Day 3 of the 2023 NFL Draft, according to team sources. Among other things, he ran slower than expected in the 40-yard dash and carries some character concerns. In my 2023 NFL Mock Draft, I have Ricks going in Round 4, which per NFL evaluators, appears to be the best-case scenario for him.
