2023 NFL Draft Stock Up
Dalton Kincaid, TE, Utah The Utes entered the 2022 season with two quality tight end prospects in Kincaid and Brant Kuithe. After a strong start to the year, Kuithe went out for the season with an injury, but Kincaid picked up the slack with an excellent senior year. Kincaid enters this season’s bowl game with 66 catches for 850 yards and eight touchdowns. The 6-foot-3, 241-pounder is a dangerous receiver with quickness, route-running, good hands, and athleticism. Team sources say they think Kincaid could be a second-round pick next April in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Sydney Brown, S, Illinois The 6-foot, 205-pound Brown had been a solid strong safety for the Fighting Illini over the past few seasons, but he has been a dynamic playmaker as a senior. In 2022, he has 59 tackles, one sack, seven passes defended and six interceptions. It was a huge increase in ball production after totaling four interceptions over the previous four seasons. Brown also had 88 tackles in 2019.
Jakorian Bennett, CB, Maryland Bennett (5-11, 194) has been a steady corner for the Maryland in 2022, recording 39 tackles, an interception and 10 passes defended. He recorded 11 pass breakups, 24 tackles and three interceptions in 2021. Bennett could fit best as a slot corner in the NFL.
Thomas Incoom, DE, Central Michigan Incoom did not do much in 2021, putting up 3.5 sacks and 27 tackles against lesser competition, but the senior has broken out in 2022, ripping off 11.5 sacks, 57 tackles and one forced fumble. The 6-foot-4, 265-pound Incoom has quality size for the next level. If he has a big week at the Senior Bowl, that could lead to Incoom being a riser.
Anthony Johnson, CB, Virginia The 6-foot-2, 205-pound Johnson is a big cornerback who showed some ball skills as a senior with 12 passes broken up and two interceptions. In 2021, he recorded 44 tackles, three interceptions and five breakups. If Johnson shows fluid movement skills and the agility to run with speed receivers during Senior Bowl week, he could be a riser.
Ji’Ayir Brown, S, Penn State Brown turned in a solid senior season with 66 tackles, three sacks, two forced fumbles, three interceptions and four passes broken up. In 2021, he was even better with 73 stops, one forced fumble, five passes broken up and six interceptions. Brown (5-11, 208) is short and lacks length, but he has good instincts and ball skills.
2023 NFL Draft Stock Down
Felix Anudike-Uzomah, DE, Kansas State Anudike-Uzomah has had a strong senior year as a steady pass rusher and solid run defender. I had Anudike-Uzomah late in the first round of my 2023 NFL Mock Draft, team sources said I had him too high. Instead, they view him more as a second-day prospect. Teams still like Anudike-Uzomah and see him as a quality selection for Day 2 of the 2023 NFL Draft.
Joey Porter Jr., CB, Penn State While Porter has gotten a lot of media hype, NFL teams are not as high on him. He went his entire final season with zero interceptions and finished his college career with only one pick. The lack of playmaking hurts Porter with teams, and there are other corners who are getting graded above him. Some teams view Porter as more of a late first-round pick for the 2023 NFL Draft rather a top-20 talent.
