2020 NFL Draft Stock Up

Kendall Coleman, DE, Syracuse
Teammate Aldrick Robinson got more press over the 2019 season and into 2020, but the other Syracuse end might be the first one selected. Teams see some twitch and explosion off the ball with the ability to bend underneath offensive tackles from Coleman. He gets dinged for having 31-inch arms, running slowly at the combine, and having problems with mass. But Coleman is a mid-round sleeper who is in play for a number of teams.

Adam Trautman, TE, Dayton
Last week, we updated our 2020 Tight End Prospect Rankings, moving Trautman to the top spot. After speaking with team sources, some have Trautman as their highest-rated tight end and the only one they would consider drafting in the first three rounds of the 2020 NFL Draft. While Trautman did not impress in the combine workout, teams say that on tape it is clear he is a pure football player who knows how to play the game. Trautman looks safe to be a second- or third-round pick.

CeeDee Lamb, WR, Oklahoma
Many league sources believe Lamb will be the first wide receiver taken in the 2020 NFL Draft and could go as a top-10 pick. There are a lot of teams that feel Lamb is a safe selection to become a No. 1 receiver who is very effective as a high-volume reception receiver. Some think, he could become a wideout similar to DeAndre Hopkins or Davante Adams in the NFL. Lamb should not have a long wait on draft night, and we have moved him up to being the top rated receiver for the 2020 NFL Draft in our Wide Receiver Prospect Rankings.

Chase Claypool, WR, Notre Dame
There are some teams that have Claypool in contention for their first-round pick. While others have Claypool graded much lower, it only takes one team to fall in love. Claypool is a massive receiver who ran faster than expected at the combine. Some see him as a Vincent Jackson-type wideout for the NFL, if he plays up to that speed at the pro level. Claypool should go in the first few rounds of the 2020 NFL Draft.

Brandon Aiyuk, WR, Arizona State
Similar to Claypool, Aiyuk has some teams considering him on the opening night of the 2020 NFL Draft. Others have him much lower and think he would be a huge reach, but there are teams that are intrigued with him. Aiyuk is an interesting prospect because he could go in the first round or be in store for a significant slide.

2020 NFL Draft Stock Down

Kenneth Murray, LB, Oklahoma
Sources from some linebacker-needy teams tell me Murray is not in the running for their first-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. The reason is his medical report, as some teams are worried about Murray with regard to stingers, neck and head injuries. While Murray was very durable at Oklahoma, he is a physical player, so some are worried he could hit his way into injuries at the pro level. Murray has the tape to be a top-16 selection, but he could go from the middle of to late in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft over the medical worries.

Andrew Thomas, OT, Georgia
There are some teams that have Thomas as their top-rated offensive lineman, but the consensus is that he will be the fourth one selected and most project that the teams picking early and need tackles prefer other prospects. Thomas did not work out as well as Iowa’s Tristan Wirfs, Alabama’s Jedrick Wills or Louisville’s Mekhi Becton, but Thomas has three seasons of solid tape as an edge blocker in the best conference for NFL talent. Thomas might slide into the teens but he could be an excellent value for someone outside the top 10.

Damon Arnette, CB, Ohio State
Arnette has a good skill set, but in surveying teams last week, a majority thought he thought he would go on the second day of the 2020 NFL Draft. Some teams feel he has first-round tape, but he has major character concerns that are weighing him down with a number of teams. Arnette might go early in the second round, but only a few sources thought he would go in the first round, with the vast majority saying Round 2.

Aldrick Robinson, DE, Syracuse
Sources say Robinson has some good tape, and he was a beast in many games for Syracuse. However, they say his off-the-field issues are deal-breakers. Some team sources say Robinson is off their board and not in play for them to draft him because of character issues. Without having pre-draft visits to help ease concerns, Robinson is at a further disadvantage to avoid a slide in the 2020 NFL Draft.
