One of the interesting tidbits in the NFL preseason watch list is when a player has a high grade despite not having produced much in college. That indicates the advance scouts were very impressed with what they saw in practice and what they heard behind the scenes while on the school visit. A player who fits that profile this year is LSU wide receiver Kayshon Boutte. While Boutte has never put up huge stats, some advance scouts have Boutte with a highest grade of any wide receiver prospect, including Ohio State star wideout Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

In each of the past two seasons, Boutte has not caught 50 passes or had even racked up750 yards. In 2020, he totaled 45 catches for 735 yards and five touchdowns. He then grabbed 38 receptions for 509 yards and nine touchdowns in 2021. On top of not having a great year of production, Boutte is not overly big, with some scouts listing him as 6-foot, 190 pounds. Boutte must have made a real impression in practice and showed a skill set with a ton of upside for some advance scouts to have given Boutte such a high preseason grade despite his lack of production or size.
