NFL TV Ratings Decline: How to Fix It

I have a fear that the NFL will go the way of the NBA and see its ratings reduced substantially. This is a true worry for me because running WalterFootball.com is my full-time job, and I employ five people. If NFL ratings fall similarly to what basketball has seen, traffic on the site will plummet as well, and thus revenue will drop, too. I want to keep my workers employed and grow the site. Those are my top priorities.

Unfortunately, I’m very pessimistic about TV viewership, as I think there’s a good chance the NFL ratings will mimic what’s happening in the NBA. For those unfamiliar, NBA playoff TV ratings are down 40 percent from the previous season. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out why. NBA players have offended the average viewer with their SJW nonsense. Their idiotic boycott of the supposed injustice of a sex offender and violent criminal was the straw that broke the camel’s back. My dad and I, both avid viewers of the NBA, have vowed not to watch anymore. Based on the plummeting TV ratings, we’re far from alone.

One would think the NFL would learn from the NBA’s mistakes, but many players announced that they would be kneeling for the national anthem. In fact, Drew Brees was unjustly attacked for saying that he thinks everyone should stand for the national anthem. I supported Brees, but then he apologized like a coward. I imagine we’ll see Brees kneeling, which will be a disgusting sight. No one should be bullied out of their beliefs, yet Brees is being told what to think by the hive-mind loud minority.

With the NFL transitioning into “Get Woke, Go Broke” SJW nonsense, and many fantasy football leagues not running this year – four of my six leagues have been canceled due to an irrational fear of a virus that doesn’t impact any healthy people under the age of 70 – it’s clear to me that NFL TV ratings will reach disturbing lows.

However, all hope isn’t lost. The NFL, like the NBA, can get into everyone’s good graces again by following this simple, three-step plan that the NBA should utilize immediately:

1. Stand for the national anthem. We live in the greatest nation in the history of this planet. America is so amazing that people literally die trying to get to this wonderful place. We all have American privilege, so it’s important to acknowledge how lucky we are. Kneeling sends the opposite message: a horrible, anti-American sentiment that just divides the population.

2. Stop with the SJW nonsense, please. Arrogant blue checkmarks on Twitter will never understand this because they live in an Ivory Tower bubble, but SJW nonsense offends many people, otherwise known as the silent majority. “Get Woke, Go Broke” is real.

3. Offer a sincere apology to the fans and the police. I can’t think of any profession that has had it harder than police in recent months. There are some rotten apples in police departments, but that’s the case for every single profession. Most police officers are good people, and it’s important that they have our support because they put their lives on the line to protect us. Meanwhile, I’m not sure an apology to the fans is necessary, but it would be a nice gesture.

The NBA doesn’t have to do any of this. They can continue to watch their ratings suffer. However, if they want viewers to return, they’ll follow this simple, three-step plan, and so will the NFL if their ratings tank just as miserably.
