2021 Senior Bowl: Quarterback Thoughts

Aside from the Carolina Panthers and Miami Dolphins, the two teams coaching the Senior Bowl, the rest of the teams in the NFL were limited to the number of evaluators they could have in attendance for the 2021 Senior Bowl practices. With the practices over, the vast majority of the evaluators left town and did not stay to watch the Senior Bowl game. With the Senior Bowl being over for 30 of the 32 franchises, team sources shared their thoughts about the quarterbacks in Mobile.

Alabama’s Mac Jones – “Mac was the most polished and consistent quarterback at Senior Bowl. He showed good rhythm, ball distribution, and accuracy.”

Texas A&M’s Kellen Mond – “Mond flashed. His mobility stands out when things break down. He can place the ball when on schedule.”

Wake Forest’s Jamie Newman – “Newman had a bad final practice and turned the ball over. Didn’t help himself.”

Texas’ Sam Ehlinger – “Ehlinger’s limitations have been highlighted. I question his ability to drive the ball and push it downfield in the NFL.”

Arkansas’ Feleipe Franks – “Franks had the biggest arm of any quarterback at Senior Bowl, but he was inconsistent with his field vision, timing, and accuracy.”

Notre Dame’s Ian Book – “Book is what he is [late-rounder backup competitor].”

On the National team – “None of them really has taken the reins and impressed. All three have been inconsistent (Feleipe Franks, Sam Ehlinger, Ian Book).”
