First round (1-32) with write-ups. Post-main free agency period.

Round:1
1. Raiders: Fernando Mendoza, QB, Indiana

Tom Brady and co. get a QB to reset the newly (re-)minted Las Vegas franchise. They’ll have some great young offensive skill talent and will need to rebuild their defense and offensive line. No trades in my mock at this time – will add once we get closer.

2. Jets: Arvell Reese, LB, Ohio State

The Jets grab the best defensive player on the board in this year’s draft. This team also has a lot of poker chips in this year’s draft. Maybe they’ll land a QB down the line.

3. Cardinals: Francis Mauigoa, OT, Miami

Arizona definitely needs help on the offensive line and obviously at QB. What use is a tackle if there’s no QB to block for, especially if you have a left tackle already? I would select a defensive player here like Sonny Styles or David Bailey, but the Cardinals are lowkey one of the worst franchises in sports. I am also not a professional GM.

4. Titans: Jeremiyah Love, RB, Notre Dame

Tennessee grabs a foundational piece for their franchise. Jeremiyah Love is ahead of the RB pack this year. Cam Ward will need someone to take pressure off of him in the offense. Daboll will want another Saquon.

5. Giants: Sonny Styles, LB, Ohio State

Sonny Styles performed too well in the combine not to go top 5 this year. NYG gets the best player available. Downs, Love, or a receiver could go here too.

6. Browns: Carnell Tate, WR, Ohio State

Regardless of QB capacity, the Browns seriously need WRs. Harold Fannin was their best receiver last year as a rookie TE. They grab the first of three “elite” receivers in the draft. We could also see an offensive tackle, defensive end, or Caleb Downs.

7. Commanders: David Bailey, DE, Texas Tech

I think Commanders get very good value here at pick #7. David Bailey is super athletic and strong. If Jeremiyah Love was here, I could see Washington selecting him. Or even Caleb Downs. David Bailey could certainly end up as a top 4 pick in the draft this year.

8. Saints: Jordyn Tyson, WR, Arizona State

Kellen Moore will want to make a splash on offense to aid the development of their second-year QB. Chris Olave has had too many concussions for a career already. He might end up like Tua. Jordyn Tyson has injury issues – he could slide later in the first. He could also end up as the first receiver selected, who knows.

9. Chiefs: Caleb Downs, S, Ohio State

Who gave the Chiefs a top 10 pick?? KC grabs a generational safety prospect and hopes to rebuild their defense after a down year. It would be interesting to see the Chiefs select a receiver here. They could also go for a defensive end or an offensive tackle.

Caleb Downs was probably the best or second-best defensive player on paper this/last year in the NCAA. Recent medical evaluations have flagged a potential degenerative knee issue.

10. Bengals: Rueben Bain Jr., DE, Miami

The Bengals kind of need everything besides QB, RB, and WR. But they definitely need help on the defensive line and select the best option on the board. Bain’s knock is short arms, but plays with tenacity and speed.

11. Dolphins: Spencer Fano, OT, Utah

The AFC East is in an ever-destructive cycle wherein the Patriots devour the other organizations. The Dolphins have hit the reset button again. They were 2 years late firing McDaniel and getting rid of Tua. It is not ethical to keep him on a football field. Miami looks to rebuild starting in the trenches.

12. Cowboys: Mansoor Delane, CB, LSU

If there was anything I took from the Cowboys’ team last year it is that they could not stop the pass. Here, they are gifted this class’ top defensive back. In a different draft, Delane would probably go higher as the 1A cornerback.

13. Rams: Makai Lemon, WR, USC

The Rams got a free pick from the James Pearce trade last year. With the addition of Trent McDuffie via trade with KC this offseason, they can stack the offense for Matt Stafford.

As a Pats fan, I think the most fun outcome would be a Rams-Ravens Super Bowl next year. LA can wait for a QB – they probably have two years left with Stafford and are a phenomenal free agent destination.

14. Ravens: Olaivavega Ioane, G, Penn State

Baltimore could take a receiver here if one of the top 3 remain, but their largest need is probably interior offensive line. The top positional player for the interior offensive line is available here and they don’t overthink it.

15. Buccaneers: Kenyon Sadiq, TE, Oregon

If the Bucs don’t go defensive line here, they’ll get the top TE prospect in the draft. An athletic freak out of Oregon named Kenyon Sadiq. He looks small on tape, but is 6’3” 240lbs. Baker Mayfield will have plenty of options to throw to.

16. Jets: Ty Simpson, QB, Alabama

The first “surprise” of this year’s draft, even though the positional value is great. Kind of an undersized QB, but the Jets need to get something going. There is not enough value to select a receiver here, but the Jets certainly need targets.

17. Lions: Monroe Freeling, OT, Georgia

Detroit goes offensive tackle here after cutting Taylor Decker. Vegas likes Monroe Freeling more than mock drafters. The Lions also need to take pressure off Aidan Hutchinson to unlock his utility – we could see a defensive line selection here too.

18. Vikings: Jermod McCoy, CB, Tennessee

This is a great value for Minnesota here at pick #18. The 1B corner of this draft. In a different year, we probably would have seen McCoy go earlier. I think the closest word I could describe the Vikings as is mismanaged. Nothing they do now will really help them in the short-term.

19. Panthers: Peter Woods, DT, Clemson

We could see the Panthers grab another receiver or TE to try to prove that Bryce Young was worth their investment. Xavier Legette is probably a mediocre WR and Jalen Coker is often hurt.

But, the best interior defensive lineman in the draft is waiting here at pick #19 for them. Woods could certainly go earlier than this too.

20. Cowboys: Keldric Faulk, DE, Auburn

Jerry Jones could opt for a defensive lineman here, or will want to protect Dak Prescott. Dallas is always at its best when its offensive line is elite. Their tackles were mediocre at best last season.

Keldrick Faulk is a player who was mocked higher than this last year. Dallas traded for Rashan Gary this offseason, but could still improve their pass rush. Their defense was really ass last year after having about a 5-year stretch of dominance.

21. Steelers: Kayden Proctor, OT, Alabama

Did you know that the draft is in Pittsburgh this year? This franchise has bad ownership and front office management. Tomlin maybe needed a change of scenery, but the real issues lie above him. They have had no real answer at QB for quite some time and have wasted a great defense. The offense seemed to revolve around three TEs last season.

Michael Pittman Jr. was added from the Colts, but he hasn’t exactly overperformed lately. They could go with a receiver, but instead go with a tackle. Broderick Jones will have to move over. Kadyn Proctor is extremely athletic for his size.

22. Chargers: Caleb Banks, DT, Florida

There are no interior offensive linemen who are worth taking at pick #22. This area of the draft seems weak this year. The Chargers get some juice on their defensive front. We could also see the Chargers select a receiver here. Banks could fall out of the first round due to a foot injury.

23. Eagles: Dillon Thieneman, S, Oregon

Philadelphia could go offensive or defensive line here. With Lane Johnson returning next season, they can wait to draft another OT. On the other hand, they have invested more defensively in recent drafts. But, they lost a white safety. They’ll need to re-stock with perhaps the draft’s most athletic safety.

24. Browns: Caleb Lomu, OT, Utah

The Browns need a tackle just to see which QB they can develop. I doubt that any passer on the roster at the moment is the guy. They’ll hope to draft a QB next year. The Travis Hunter trade yields dividends here. Caleb Lomu was the left tackle at Utah, while Spencer Fano played right tackle.

25. Bears: Cashius Howell, DE, Texas A&M

There is a gaping hole at defensive end on the Bears roster. They need to generate pressure to let the offense see the field more often. Cashius Howell is a speed-type end who had 11.5 sacks his senior season at Texas A&M.

26. Bills: K.C. Concepcion, WR, Texas A&M

Buffalo could do many things here at pick #26. They do need offensive line and secondary help. But, they have an opportunity to develop a receiver under DJ Moore and as insurance to Khalil Shakir.

27. 49ers: Kayden McDonald, DT, Ohio State

San Francisco probably still needs a receiver. They also need a defensive tackle. Maybe they trade up if an opportunity presents itself. Maybe they trade for or sign a receiver before the season starts.

28. Texans: C.J. Allen, LB, Georgia

The Texans could probably go .500 with their defense alone. After trading Laremy Tunsil and making other offensive line moves, CJ Stroud looked spooked. OL is a must for Houston early in this year’s draft, but Caleb Lomu was selected by Cleveland.

CJ Allen could be a long-time franchise defensive playcaller. A guy who leads his team in tackles almost every year. Former linebacker DeMeco Ryans gets himself one to mold.

29. Chiefs: T.J. Parker, DE, Clemson

Protecting Mahomes is a greater priority this year after tearing his ACL, but there are no tackles worthy of pick #29. We could see the Chiefs draft a corner here instead to replace Trent McDuffie.

Instead, the Chiefs go with a defensive line presence with Caleb Downs already selected. TJ Parker has slid in recent mocks. Last year, he was often mocked in the top 15. To me, he kind of looked like Richard Seymour at the combine.

30. Dolphins: Denzel Boston, WR, Washington

Denver sent their pick to the Dolphins for Jaylen Waddle. Miami now has the worst receiver room in the league. Malik Willis might as well be wearing an explosive vest on the field this year. Denzel Boston is a big receiver and will fit an immediate need as a starter here.

31. Patriots: Zion Young, DE, Missouri

The Patriots need to increase defensive pressure on the QB to get themselves over the edge. Generating pressure will also allow their elite secondary to flourish and keep the opposing offenses off the field.

Zion Young could go anywhere from the Bucs at pick #15 to here at the end of round 1. He has slid due to DUI and assault charges. New England has met with him prior to the draft.

32. Seahawks: Avieon Terrell, CB, Clemson

If Tariq Woolen is gone this offseason, I reckon that Seattle will go with a cornerback at the end of the first round. After losing Tariq Woolen to the Eagles, Seattle gets good value with Terrell.
