A year ago, the Jacksonville Jaguars sent a huge trade package to the Cleveland Browns in order to move up to the second-overall pick from the fifth-overall pick to draft Colorado cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter. They traded away their 2026 first-round pick in that deal, and this year, Jacksonville’s first selection is not until pick 56. In speaking with team sources, they said they would prefer to draft a defensive player in the second round.
On the defensive side of the ball, sources say, ideally, they would like to get an interior defensive linemen. Some interior defensive linemen they could consider include Florida State’s Darrell Jackson Jr. or Alabama’s L.T. Overton. Ohio State’s Kayden McDonald and Texas Tech’s Lee Hunter may go in the first round, but they might slip to the second round. The Jaguars would be very fortunate if either McDonald or Hunter made it to their pick.
Aside from the interior defensive line, a cornerback or safety would be a position they could draft. They said they didn’t envision them taking an offensive player, but would like to add a receiver with some size so that could be in play depending on who is on the board.
In my latest 2026 NFL Mock Draft, I have the Jaguars addressing one of the defensive positions where they would like to infuse some talent. While Hunter may double as helping to fill the issue at cornerback, Jacksonville would like to add more defensive pieces to go with him.
