If QBs are Gone, Giants like Carter

The New York Giants are in an interesting position for the 2025 NFL Draft. There are only two consensus first-round quarterbacks in Miami’s Cam Ward and Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders. New York has the third pick and one of these triggermen could make it to their pick, but there is also the possibility neither do. Both the Titans and Browns are picking ahead of New York and need a young starter. Thus, the Giants have to be prepared for the quarterbacks being gone when New York is on the clock. If that is the case, sources say the Giants would most likely take Penn State linebacker Abdul Carter over Colorado cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter.

Hearing that the Giants prefer Carter over Hunter is a bit of a surprise. New York already has two talented speed rushers, Brian Burns and Kayvon Thibodeaux, and cornerback is a need for them to address. While they like Hunter as a prospect, they have Carter rated higher. Carter is also versatile where he can play inside linebacker as well as rush off the edge. Thus, they could have Carter, Burns, and Thibodeaux on the field together.

In my latest 2025 NFL Mock Draft, I have one of the quarterbacks getting to New York, but if they miss out on Ward or Sanders, sources say the inclination right now would be for the Giants to take Carter.
