Teams See a Lack of 10 Talent in 2025

Rolled Newspaper bearing title: "NFL HOT PRESS"

Every NFL Draft year features a unique group of prospects with a variety of strengths and weaknesses from year to year. There have been some legendary years in the draft with amazing classes like 2011 and some notoriously bad drafts like 2013. Right now, team sources do not feel that the 2025 NFL Draft will be an extreme like one of those. However, sources feel that the 2025 NFL Draft does not have many elite prospects that are true top-10 picks in any draft class.

“There aren’t many high-level prospects this year,” said a director of college scouting.

Many sources feel that this year, players that will go in the top 10 would go lower in a typical draft. However, they do see some depth as they feel there is little difference in talent from a player going late in the top 10 to a prospect going late in the top 20. In speaking with team sources, the consensus is that the 2025 NFL Draft is a very strong draft class for defensive line talent with a large amount of good prospects on the edge and in the interior. The lack of quarterback talent has been widely discussed, and the lack of quarterback prospects can hurt the top of the draft as it causes non-quarterbacks to come off the board sooner.

A lack of consensus on elite players will make the 2025 NFL Draft more difficult for teams and analysts to predict. In my latest 2025 NFL Mock Draft, I have some unique picks going high and also some excellent values in the middle and late portion of the first round. A lot can and will change in the months to come, especially with a draft class that team sources feel lacks a real consensus of high-level prospects.
