2024 NBA Offseason: Golden State Warriors

Gary Payton, PO

Dario Saric, UFA

Klay Thompson, UFA

2023-24 Season Overview:

The Warriors trading Jordan Poole for Chris Paul made an old team much older, and it hampered their offense, as they lost 20 points per game. In the deep Western Conference, they are very average. The biggest plusses for the Warriors is that they have a star in Jonathan Kuminga, who should be a 20-10 big man next season, and rookie guard Brandin Podziemski looked excellent too. Golden State’s 2023 season showed that the team can no longer truly count on Klay Thompson or Draymond Green and has to find Stephen Curry some assistance.

Offseason Goals

The biggest change the Warriors need to make is taking minutes from the old guys and giving them to their talented youth. That’s their chance to improve as a team, while keeping their own legends, which is deserved. They lack the money and draft capital to actually make too many moves in the offseason after keeping Klay Thompson and trading Chris Paul’s huge 1-season contract. For Paul, there’s a legitimate chance they can get Zach LaVine, who has little trade value, but would give them a talented third option. The Warriors should also keep Saric and Payton if they can.
