UPDATED 6/18

Here are the 2009 NBA Draft Shooting Guards rankings. Go here for the rest of the 2009 NBA Draft Prospect Rankings.

  1. Tyreke Evans, Memphis
Height: 6-5. Weight: 220. Year: Fr.
    Projected Selection: 4-9.

In my opinion, has superstar possibilities… Probably the best slasher in the draft… Makes getting to the basket look effortless… Strong, NBA-ready body… Handles the rock well as he played the point at Memphis… Lacks consistency with his jumper and often has poor shot selection on the perimeter.

  2. James Harden, Arizona State
Height: 6-5. Weight: 222. Year: So.
    Projected Selection: 3-8.

Crafty left-hander with a complete all-around offensive game… Has great body control when weaving through traffic in the paint… Solid outside shooter… High character guy with tremendous basketball IQ… Needs to work on his movement without the ball… Was too unselfish at times when his team needed him to be a scorer.

  3. Demar DeRozan, USC
Height: 6-6. Weight: 211. Year: Fr.
    Projected Selection: 6-11.

Blessed with ridiculous athletic abilities… Can jump out of the gym and is very fast… Showed steady improvement during his freshman season… Tenacious defender on the wing… Decent mid-range jumper, but needs to work on his shot from three-point range… Might have the highest upside of any American player in the draft.

  4. Gerald Henderson, Duke
Height: 6-5. Weight: 214. Year: Jr.
    Projected Selection: 9-16.

Finally lived up to the hype his junior year… Has a nice shot from the outside… Ferocious when attacking the basket and has the strength to finish inside… Good defensive player… At times, a streaky shooter who lets it get in his head when his shot is not falling.

  5. Wayne Ellington, North Carolina
Height: 6-5. Weight: 202. Year: Jr.
    Projected Selection: 16-26.

The prettiest stroke in college basketbal… Effective three-point shooter with a Richard Hamilton-like mid-range game… Great catch and shooter as he uses screens away from the ball very well… Not the most athletically gifted player and often settles for jumpers… Defensively, is a bit of a liability.

  6. Marcus Thornton, LSU
Height: 6-3. Weight: 194. Year: Sr.
    Projected Selection: late first/early second.

Deadly shooter from the outside… Is better without the ball in his hands in that he knows how to run off screens and utilize his catch and shoot abilities… Under-sized to play the two in the NBA, but uses his strength to make up for his lack of height… Solid, but not great defender.

  7. Jodie Meeks, Kentucky
Height: 6-4. Weight: 211. Year: Jr.
Projected Selection: early to mid second.

As demonstrated by his 54-point outburst against Tennessee this past season, Meeks is a big-time scorer… Can definitely light it up from three-point land… Relies on his shot more than his slashing ability to get points… Decent ball-handler and defender… Probably would have been better off returning to school as showing he can thrive in the Dribble-Drive offense.

  8. Jermaine Taylor, Central Florida
Height: 6-4. Weight: 207. Year: Sr.
Projected Selection: early to mid second.

Superb athlete who excels at getting to the rim… Great finisher and extremely explosive off the dribble… Decent outside shooter with a nice mid-range game… Doesn’t exert a lot of energy on the defensive end… Not the ideal height for a two guard, but possesses great strength and body control…

  9. Jerel McNeal, Marquette
Height: 6-3. Weight: 190. Year: Sr.
Projected Selection: early to mid second.

A tweener guard who is under-sized to play the two, but doesn’t have the experience of running the point… Drastically improved his outside game… Creates his own shot of the dribble with a nice pull-up jumper… Finishes well in the paint despite his lack of size… Former Big East Defensive Player of the Year who can lock you down on the perimeter.

Other 2009 NBA Draft Shooting Guard Prospects:

  10. Sergey Gladyr, Serbia
  11. Lee Cummard, BYU
  12. Dionte Christmas, Temple
  13. Wesley Matthews, Marquette
  14. Milenko Tepic, Serbia
  15. Robert Vaden, UAB
  16. Dar Tucker, DePaul
  17. Stefon Jackson, UTEP
  18. Alonzo Gee, Alabama
  19. Josh Carter, Texas A&M
  20. Alex Ruoff, West Virginia
