2010 NBA Draft Scouting Report: Patrick Patterson
Position: Power Forward
Size: 6-9, 235
School: Kentucky, Junior
Strengths:
Weaknesses:
Summary: Patterson possess many of the assets that are ideal for an NBA power forward. He briefly tested the NBA Draft waters after his sophomore season but chose to return to Kentucky for his junior year. That decision makes sense, as he has become a better all-around player now that he is in John Calipari’s dribble-drive motion offense. A terrific start to his junior season has vaulted Patterson into a likely lottery pick with the potential to be picked in the top 10.
Player Comparison: Kenyon Martin. Martin was a man among boys at Cincinnati and Patterson is in a similar mold. He is absolutely ripped from a physical standpoint, but is also a tremendous athlete. Patterson has the potential to take over games like Martin did at the collegiate level, though Patterson is a better shooter than Martin was at this point of his career.
