2012 NBA Draft Scouting Report: Tyler Zeller
Position: Center
Size: 7-0, 250
School: North Carolina, Senior
Strengths:
Weaknesses:
Summary: Zeller has been a solid and consistent big man during his career at North Carolina. He runs the floor as well as any true center in college basketball which shows his athleticism and effort for the a seven-footer. However, his lack of strength and physicality is a concern as he transitions to the next level. With his skill level though, he can be a solid back-up center in the NBA and should garner mid-late first-round looks.
Player Comparison: Dan Gadzuric. Gadzuric had a decent run in the NBA as a backup center, but his lack of physicality and ability to bang down low resulted in him being out of the league. Zeller is more offensively skilled than Gadzuric, but the two are similar due to their relatively solid athleticism and lack of strength. Zeller should have a longer and more productive career than Gadzuric, but has some of the same physical limitations.
