Minnesota Timberwolves: Jahlil Okafor, C, Duke.
Yes, Gorgui Dieng is a nice young center, but Okafor to me is the best prospect of this and the previous two drafts. Okafor will be an elite NBA franchise player and could team with Andrew Wiggins and Ricky Rubio to give Minnesota a ridiculously talented Big Three. The organization would also have the No. 1 pick in three straight drafts, which is incredible. The Timberwolves already have the best young talent in the NBA, but with Okafor, they would be a title contender in two to three seasons. -
Los Angeles Lakers: Emmanuel Mudiay, PG, Congo.
The Lakers aren’t going to win seven more games this season, so there is a chance they could get the No. 1 pick and take Okafor, but Mudiay is a nice secondary prize. He is the best point guard prospect in years and would give the Lakers an elite young talent, who can become their franchise point guard, which is vital in the Western Conference. With Mudiay and Julius Randle, the Lakers would have two excellent young players to team with Kobe and the free agents the franchise signs in the offseason. -
Philadelphia 76ers: D’Angelo Russell, G, Ohio State.
Karl-Anthony Towns is the better prospect, but with Nerlens Noel and Joel Embiid, it just doesn’t make sense for the 76ers to draft another big man when there is an elite guard prospect who is a much better fit. Russell is a big scoring combo guard, who could team with Michael Carter-Williams to give Philadelphia a backcourt similar to Washington’s with John Wall and Bradley Beal. -
New York Knicks: Karl-Anthony Towns, PF/C, Kentucky.
If Towns was on any team other than Kentucky, he would likely be a Naismith favorite. For the Knicks, he would provide a franchise big man and an elite young talent to pair with Carmelo Anthony. -
Utah Jazz: Kevon Looney, F, UCLA.
Looney is a ridiculously talented forward, who can play the three and four, shoot, score, rebound and block shots. The Jazz have young talent at the five positions, so getting a versatile and unique player like Looney makes a lot sense. -
Boston Celtics: Willie Cauley-Stein, C, Kentucky.
Cauley-Stein would give the Celtics a franchise center who is an efficient scorer and an excellent rebounder and defender. They have an excellent young roster, but they lack a star talent at center, so he is a perfect fit for Boston. -
Orlando Magic: Kristaps Porzingas, F, Latvia.
An elite foreign prospect, Porzingas is one very skilled offensive, large, athletic big man. The Magic have strong talent at one through five, so the team should take the best prospect on the board, which is arguably Porzingas. He is a unique player, and with him, Nikola Vucevic, Orlando’s franchise player, and Aaron Gordon, the organization would have a ridiculously talented big man trio. -
Detroit Pistons: Kelly Oubre, SF, Kansas.
Oubre is playing very well at Kansas after a slow start, and with his athleticism and offensive talent, he is a potential star in the NBA and the Pistons need a three. Kentavious Caldwell Pope and Oubre would be an excellent young perimeter duo. -
Indiana Pacers: Myles Turner, PF/C, Texas.
Roy Hibbert has a player option in the offseason, but assuming he stays a Pacer, Turner would be an excellent fit with him the frontcourt. Turner is an excellent offensive big man, who can shoot threes, and is an elite rebounder and shot-blocker. He is a 7-footer and a strong athlete, who can play power forward or center in the NBA. -
Sacramento Kings: Jerian Grant, PG, Notre Dame.
Arguably, the second-best point guard in the 2015 NBA Draft and the brother of Sixers’ rookie Jermani, Jerian Grant is an excellent and efficient scorer and a strong distributor. Putting that together with his being 6-5 and athletic means he could be a franchise point guard in the NBA. The Kings could use one. -
Denver Nuggets: Justise Winslow, SF, Duke.
The Nuggets have a lot of talent one through five and should take the best player who fits, which is arguably Winslow. Denver could use a young small forward, and Winslow is an excellent fit because he is a hard working, team-first player who can help in all the little areas of the game. Winslow also has the potential to be an excellent starter. -
Brooklyn Nets: Stanley Johnson, SF, Arizona.
The Brooklyn Nets are about to re-build, so they should just take the best talent on the board, which is Johnson. He is a defense-first player, who is also an excellent rebounder, athlete and scorer who plays hard for his team. Johnson could become a core part of the Nets’ franchise. -
Phoenix Suns: Devin Booker, G, Kentucky.
Booker is an elite scorer and shooter, and as the Suns thrive because of their guards, having another one would be a wise idea, more so as the team could lose Goran Dragic in the offseason. Regardless of Dragic, having Booker on the perimeter with defenses trying to stop Phoenix’s play-makers would mean a lot of chances for him to make easy threes. -
Houston Rockets: Montrzel Harrell, PF, Louisville.
Harrell is a lot like Kenneth Faried, an athlete who is an excellent rebounder and energy big man. He can be an elite bench piece for Houston or a strong starter with Dwight Howard. -
Charlotte Hornets: R.J. Hunter, SG, Georgia State.
The Hornets need a perimeter shooter and scorer more than anything. Yes, R.J. Hunter comes from a small school, but the guy can score the ball and is a perfect fit next to Michael Kidd-Gilchrist.
