2015 NBA Mock Draft: Round 1

2016 NBA Mock Draft
Updated: June 18, 2015.

Team needs and outstanding trades have been taken into account with this mock draft.

  1. Minnesota Timberwolves: Guillermo Hernangomez, C, Spain, 6-11, 1994.
The Spaniard looks the part and posted solid numbers in the ACB League this past season.

  2. Houston Rockets: Robert Upshaw, C, Washington, 7-0, Soph.
The former Fresno State transfer is a defensive and physical presence in the paint, but he was dismissed from the Huskies’ program, which will be a red flag among NBA GMs. Still, Upshaw is worth a second-round gamble.

  3. Boston Celtics: Mouhammadu Jaiteh, C, France, 6-11, 1994
Jaiteh has the size and physicality to bang down low in the NBA.

  4. Los Angeles Lakers: Branden Dawson, SF, Michigan State, 6-6, Sr.
Branden Dawson was a solid all-around role player during his four years in East Lansing.

  5. Philadelphia 76ers: Terry Rozier, G, Louisville, 6-2, Soph.
A combo guard who is explosive in the open floor; not having a true position for the next level affects Terry Rozier’s stock.

  6. Minnesota Timberwolves: Norman Powell, SG, UCLA, 6-4, Sr.
A role player his first three seasons with the Bruins, Norman Powell emerged as a go-to scoring option at UCLA during his senior year.

  7. Philadelphia 76ers: Andrew Harrison, PG, Kentucky, 6-5, Soph.
Andrew Harrison displayed improved maturity and decision-making as a sophomore, but he still didn’t do much to help his draft stock.

  8. Detroit Pistons: Cliff Alexander, PF, Kansas, 6-9, Fr.
Despite a disappointing freshman campaign, Cliff Alexander brings a terrific combination of strength and athleticism to the floor.

  9. Charlotte Hornets: Arturs Gudaitis, C, Lithuania, 6-10, 1993.
Gudaitis has a good combination of size and skill.

  10. Miami Heat: Jordan Mickey, PF, LSU, 6-8, Soph.
Jordan Mickey is an athletic forward who is a high-level shot blocker and can clean up the glass despite being a bit undersized.

  11. Brooklyn Nets: Dakari Johnson, C, Kentucky, 7-0, Soph.
Dakari Johnson is a true low post scorer who was in much better shape this season.

  12. Utah Jazz: J.P. Tokoto, G/F, North Carolina, 6-5, Jr.
While athletic and versatile on both ends, the biggest hole in J.P. Tokoto’s game is his outside shooting.

  13. Indiana Pacers: Anthony Brown, G/F, Stanford, 6-6, Sr.
The Cardinal senior can stroke it from deep, yet he also rebounds and defends well for a wing.

  14. Phoenix Suns: Jonathan Holmes, F, Texas, 6-8, Sr.
An inside/outside threat, Jonathan Holmes’ versatility could land him a spot on an NBA roster.

  15. Boston Celtics: Cedi Osman, SF, Turkey, 6-8, 1995
The Thunder have a pretty full roster, so this should be a draft-and-stash option.

  16. Milwaukee Bucks: Olivier Hanlan, G, Boston College, 6-4, Jr.
A combo guard who can score the basketball from all over the floor, Olivier Hanlan’s versatility could land him a spot on an NBA roster.

  17. Philadelphia 76ers: Nikola Milutinov, C, Serbia, 6-11, 1994
The Serbian is a skilled big man who must get stronger.

  18. Oklahoma City Thunder: Luka Mitrovic, PF, Serbia, 6-8, 1993
The Thunder have a pretty full roster so this should be a draft-and-stash option.

  19. Washington Wizards: Terran Petteway, G/F, Nebraska, 6-6, Jr.
The Cornhusker can score it from anywhere on the floor and has good size for an NBA wing.

  20. Atlanta Hawks: Pat Connaughton, SF, Notre Dame, 6-6, Sr.
The MLB prospect opened eyes with his athleticism at the NBA Combine. He also plays with toughness and can shoot the three.

  21. Orlando Magic: Aaron Harrison, SG, Kentucky, 6-5, Soph.
A streaky shooter, Aaron Harrison would be a solid second-round value.

  22. Dallas Mavericks: Joseph Young, G, Oregon, 6-2, Sr.
A shooting guard trapped in a point guard’s body, Young knows how to score the rock.

  23. Cleveland Cavaliers: Richaun Holmes, PF, Bowling Green, 6-8, Sr.
A sleeper second-round prospect thanks to a solid showing at the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament.

  24. Utah Jazz: Tyler Harvey, SG, Eastern Washington, 6-4, Jr.
Harvey led college basketball in scoring during 2014, but flew under the radar on the national level since he played at Eastern Washington.

  25. San Antonio Spurs: Alan Williams, C, UC-Santa Barbara, 6-8, Sr.
Though undersized, the Gaucho knows how to throw his big body around in the paint.

  26. New Orleans Pelicans: Michael Frazier, SG, Florida, 6-4, Jr.
Michael Frazier had a disappointing junior season, but he can stroke it from the outside.

  27. Denver Nuggets: Vince Hunter, F, UTEP, 6-8, Soph.
Extremely athletic, Hunter is a combo forward who is at his best around the rim.

  28. Philadelphia 76ers: Treveon Graham, SG, VCU, 6-5, Sr.
Graham’s ability to light it up from deep should land him a spot in the second round of the 2015 NBA Draft.

  29. Atlanta Hawks: Josh Richardson, SG, Tennessee, 6-6, Sr.
With a good combination of size and athleticism, the former Vol could stick as a role player at the next level.

  30. Philadelphia 76ers: Daniel Diez, SF, Spain, 6-8, 1993.
The Spaniard put up solid numbers overseas and has a nice stroke from the outside.
