Miami vs. Pittsburgh
Jabaal Sheard
1st – 14:36 – Excellent job using hands to swim and avoid blocker … makes clutch tackle on 3rd and 1
1st – 13:42 – Passive, inconsistent … fails to make impact … looks non-competitive here from backside
1st – 13:16 – Slow first step
1st – 13:01 – Lacks speed, motor to make play from backside
1st – 8:45 – Low football IQ – should have anticipated screen based on formation
1st – 8:25 – Very nice stutter move vs. Franklin
1st – 0:38 – Shows a little bit of a burst here and generates sack on speed rush … very poor blocking from right tackle
2nd – 10:08 – Terrific 2nd effort on this play … good hustle and chases down QB
Orlando Franklin (Note: Franklin went up against a 6-1, 245-pound, mediocre backup in this game with Romeus out – and he simply wasn’t tested)
1st – 13:42 – Nice job chip run blocking DT, then getting to second level to block MIKE … still a little too high with knee bend
1st – 8:25 (switches to right tackle) – Poor instincts and impatient beat on stutter step … slow feet here
1st – 4:59 – HORRENDOUS technique … completely bending at waist … no footwork … DE bursts right by him.
1st – 3:15 – Lumbering feet … poor hand use and lets DE get into his body and push him off balance
1st – 0:38 – Bending at waist and overextends
2nd – 13:16 – Bad technique … uses size, athleticism to dominate smaller DE
2nd – 12:26 – Very poor hand extension…DE gets into his body
2nd – 11:33 – Takes two false steps to outside, DE goes inside and he gets caught bending at waist … completely beat here
2nd – 11:18 – Terrible footwork and bad balance … can’t play tackle in NFL – I’m convinced. No idea what he’s doing
Allen Bailey
1st – 11:13 – first play for Miami defense … nice rip move and shows some quickness, flexibility off edge – dip and rip … sack
1st – 7:10 – Nice speed and range for a 285 pound defensive lineman
1st – 6:00 – Very strong hand punch here
1st – 14:54 – Excellent power on this play and puts RT on the ground … nice hustle and makes tackle
Jason Pinkston
1st – 6:00 – Lacked awareness on x-stunt
1st – 2:10 – Footwork better, but doesn’t know how to use hands to control DE … a little impatient and doesn’t sit in stance
2nd – 14:06 – Poor balance … sluggish feet … too high, bends at waist
2nd – 5:02 – Uses size, power to run block here, but has bad balance and poor footwork … steers with upper body, not feet and causes bad balance
Colin McCarthy
1st – 2:15 – Very poor awareness in zone … missed assignment … WILL was covering FB out of backfield, McCarthy had responsibility of middle zone … struggled to change directions after play action
2nd – 14:05 – Not faster than QB on this play … shows lacking speed and makes shoestring tackle
3rd – 1:26 – SLOW … unable to make what should be a routine open field tackle … zero athleticism
Richard Gordon
2nd – 12:26 – Unimpressive route … doesn’t tip it, but he doesn’t sell it either – fails to sink hips, knees … doesn’t look very athletic … nice hands on this catch
Leonard Hankerson
2nd – 8:43 – Drops TD catch on skinny post … no excuses here.
Brandon Harris
3rd – 11:05 – Nice tackle in run support … good patience, under control
3rd – 8:31 – Tries to run around block instead of taking it head on
3rd – 2:56 – Patient, under great … nice tackle … not afraid to mix it up in run game
