  • Summary: Surratt was solid receiver for Wake Forest, helping the Demon Deacons produce a dangerous offense in 2019 with Jamie Newman at quarterback. Surratt caught 66 passes for 1,001 yards and 11 touchdowns that season. In 2018, he recorded 41 receptions for 581 yards and four touchdowns. Surratt then decided to sit out the 2020 season, but he did accept an invitation to play at the Senior Bowl.

In Mobile, Surratt was able to come through with the week he needed to impress team evaluators. “He has good hands, size, body control, and will be a solid pro using his big body,” said a director of college scouting.

For the NFL, Surratt is a big possessional receiver who could be a valuable red-zone weapon. He has good size with height and bulk that combined with his good body control make him tough to defend. He walls off defensive backs and presents a good target to his quarterback to make catches in the short to intermediate part of the field. On slants, digs, and back-shoulder passes, Surratt can box out cornerbacks for position, and he does an excellent job of making contested catches. Surratt has strong, late hands and the leaping ability to win jump passes over defenders. He is very dangerous on 50-50 passes and is a valuable contributor in the red zone given his ability to beat tight coverage for catches.

Surratt may not have the skill set of an elite No. 1 wide receiver in the NFL, but he could be a quality No. 2 and a solid starter. Surratt is not a speed demon and is not an explosive or twitchy athlete, so he is going to struggle to separate from NFL cornerbacks. While Surratt is not a fast receiver to burn defenders, he can challenge defenses downfield with his ability to make catches over coverage, which is problematic in all levels.

In the 2021 NFL Draft, Surratt could be a second- or third-round pick.

Player Comparison: Allen Robinson In the NFL, I think Surratt could be a poor-man’s Robinson. They are similar size players who are sure-handed, tough, physical, and use their frame to block out defenders. I think Robinson has more separation ability with better speed and athleticism. Robinson was a second-round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, and Surratt could go on Day 2 this year. In the NFL, I think Surratt will be similar style receiver to Robinson, although not as good.
