2015 Pro Day Notes: Tuesday, April 14, 1:30 p.m. (2:30 update)
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

Utah
Initial reports from the pro-day workout of Utah receiver Dres Anderson has the senior timing 4.47 in the 40 after measuring 6-1 3/8, 186 pounds. As of this posting, Anderson, who missed the end of the 2014 season with a knee injury which prevented him from participating in the Senior Bowl and combine, was getting set to run the shuttles.

Fourteen teams including the Baltimore Ravens (WR Coach), Pittsburgh Steelers, Green Bay Packers, Kansas City Chiefs, New York Giants, Indianapolis Colts, Oakland Raiders, Seattle Seahawks, Buffalo Bills, Arizona Cardinals, Carolina Panthers, Tennessee Titans, Denver Broncos and San Diego Chargers are on hand.

Update: Dres Anderson’s workout is complete. His other marks included 6.87 in the 3-cone, 4.2 in the short shuttle and 11.32 in the 60-yard shuttle. His broad jump measured 10-1.

Anderson caught all but one pass during his workout, and the one he missed was a wayward throw which traveled out of bounds. He’s meeting with Baltimore Ravens wide receiver coach Bobby Engram later today.

The injury which forced Anderson to the sidelines late in 2014 has made him the forgotten prospect at the receiver position. Yet, most believe Anderson will be under-drafted and had second-round potential had he been able to finish the year. Teams expect the wideout to produce as a rookie this fall and progress from the point where he left off in October.

San Diego State
Ezell Ruffin, who was unable to participate in the San Diego State pro day on March 19, worked out at the school today in front of the Green Bay Packers, New York Giants and Indianapolis Colts.

The senior receiver, who missed five games in the middle of last season after breaking his collarbone, improved on almost all his Combine numbers.

He tipped the scale at 216 pounds, two pounds lower than Indianapolis, timed 4.60 in the 40 (4.65 at Combine) posted a 31.5-inch vertical jump (27.5 combine), 9-1 broad, and timed 4.38 in the short shuttle (4.59 Combine) and an impressive 6.86 in the 3-cone (7.35 combine).

Afterward, he caught passes from former San Diego State quarterback Quinn Kaehler.

UTEP
The Miners are the final school to work out on the schedule, and almost a dozen teams made their way to El Paso for pro day. Included were tight end coaches from the San Diego Chargers and Philadelphia Eagles to watch the top, and possibly only Miner prospect, tight end Eric Tomlinson.

Tomlinson, who participated at the Combine, was much faster today than in Indianapolis, timing 4.75s to 4.81 in the 40, almost a 0.2 improvement. He was also slightly better in the long jump, touching 31 inches (30.5 at combine).

Measuring 6-6 1/4, 263 pounds, Tomlinson, along with Nick Boyle, rank as the premier blocking tight ends in this months draft.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Tuesday, April 7, 9:20 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

Syracuse
The numbers for offensive tackle Sean Hickey read 40 times in the high 5.1s (5.18 seconds) to the low 5.2s (5.22 seconds), a short shuttle of 4.69 seconds and 3-cone drill of 7.68 seconds. Hickey did some snapping at center during position drills but mostly spent his time at guard. The feeling leaving the workout is Hickey projects to guard on Sunday, but will get consideration at right tackle.

Hobart
Ali Marpet had a “private” workout prior to the Syracuse pro-day that was attended by the New England Patriots, New York Jets, Detroit Lions, Washington Redskins, Pittsburgh Steelers, Tennessee Titans, Baltimore Ravens and San Fransisco 49ers.

Marpet’s schedule is booked solid as with 22 days left before the 2015 NFL Draft, he has nine visits and 15 private workouts on his schedule. I’ve been told many of those workouts will take place on the weekend.

Florida
More on Chaz Green.

As stated earlier, there’s a bunch of intrigue over Green and it’s understandable. When healthy and hitting on all cylinders, his game film is top notch. I’ve always felt had Green been able to stay on the field and play to his level of ability, he was top-100 material.

That being the case, he received a ton of interest over the past two days.

Yesterday, Green met individually with the Dallas Cowboys, New Orleans Saints, Tampa Bay Bucs, San Diego Chargers and Carolina Panthers. Today, he’s meeting with the Philadelphia Eagles and Houston Texans.

Green’s visit list in the next week included official trips to the Dallas Cowboys, Buffalo Bills, Atlanta Falcons and Tampa Bay Bucs.

In a positive sign, linebacker Neiron Ball timed 4.52 to 4.59 seconds in the 40. Considering he’s not even six months removed from micro-fracture surgery, that’s a significant accomplishment for Ball, who’ll return to Indianapolis for the combine medical recheck at the middle of this month.

Florida
Add the St. Louis Rams to the teams that had offensive line coaches on hand today.

I failed to mention that despite a pectoral strain, Max Garcia completed 30 reps on the bench, which impressed scouts. Garcia did the majority of position drills at center and just a few snaps at guard and was impressive in all of them. Some now grade him as the No. 2 center in the draft after Hroniss Grasu of Oregon.

Accolades continue for D.J. Humphries, who oozed athleticism in position drills. He displayed excellent feet, balance and fluid hips. The feeling leaving the workout is Humphries has solidified himself as a bottom of Round 1 selection.

As described to me, tackle Trenton Brown is all “limbs and legs” but little in the way of balance or coordinated movement. His massive frame will likely push him into the last round of the draft.

Despite his seemingly poor conditioning, there was a lot of intrigue over Chaz Green. I’m told several offensive line coaches took him to the side and worked him one-on-one.

Additional sources confirmed to top notch performance of Dante Fowler Jr. He looked especially good dropping into coverage, then moving in space. He easily covered a lot of area on the field, quickly moving in reverse as well as laterally.

Syracuse
Early word from Syracuse has offensive lineman Sean Hickey completing 38 reps on the bench (improvement of three from the Combine) and touching 27 inches in the vertical jump. Hickey, who had been suffering with a viral infection up until two days ago, is expected to complete the full workout.

There was an erroneous report on the Web that Hickey had completed 42 reps during his pro day a week ago. He did complete 42 reps and it’s been recorded on video, but it was in preparation for today’s pro day. Despite this, the message is clear; Hickey’s upper body strength compares with any of the offensive linemen in this year’s draft.

Safety Durell Eskridge, who ran a hand-timed best of 4.56 at the Combine and touched just 31 inches in the vertical jump, is expected to only participate in position drills today.

Florida
The reviews on Dante Fowler have been positive, as he looked fluid and moved well during position drills. It was a much better performance today than the Combine, which was below par.

Fowler will be meeting with the Jacksonville Jaguars tonight, Tennessee Titans tomorrow and the Atlanta Falcons this weekend.

I’m also told the Tampa Bay Bucs have shown a lot of interest in defensive tackle Leon Orr and are expected to schedule a work out and/or visit with him.

Offensive lineman Chaz Green was disappointing. I’m told he was poorly conditioned and looked gassed early on. At points, coaches pulled him from the workout. On his behalf, I’m told it was a very hot day and a long workout in which many of the 10 offensive line coaches on hand stepped in and ran their own drills.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Tuesday, April 7, 1:15 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

The last day of multiple pro-day events on the calendar takes place today, as both Florida and Syracuse perform for teams. Hobart offensive lineman Ali Marpet is also doing an individual workout for scouts, but Dres Anderson is not. The Utah receiver had his individual pro day misreported as April 6 when in fact, it’s the 14th of this month.

Here are some early results:

Florida
There’s a huge crowd in Gainesville for Florida pro day. The two headliners, Dante Fowler Jr. and D.J. Humphries, are standing on their Combine numbers and just participating in position drills.

Offensive line coaches from the Indianapolis Colts, New England Patriots, New Orleans Saints, Pittsburgh Steelers, San Diego Chargers, Philadelphia Eagles, Chicago Bears and Tennessee Titans are on hand.

In the early going, I’m told both Humphries and Max Garcia have looked terrific in position drills. Garcia, who did not run the 40 at the Combine due to a hamstring injury, chose not to run today as a precaution.

Humphries met with the Miami Dolphins and New Orleans Saints yesterday, while Garcia has had individual meetings with the Chicago Bears, Pittsburgh Steelers, Philadelphia Eagles and Tampa Bay Bucs over the course ofthe past two days.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Thursday, April 2, 9:15 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

Florida Atlantic
General managers Doug Whaley of the Buffalo Bills and Steve Keim of the Arizona Cardinals were on hand for the Florida Atlantic pro day. The highlight were the defensive backs, who were put through their workout by the Indianapolis Colts.

Cornerback D’Joun Smith ran much faster today than he did in Indianapolis, timing 4.34 in the 40, and improvement of .05 seconds from his best stopwatch time at the Combine. He also improved his bench press by three reps, completing 21 this go-around.

Safety Damian Parms, who was not at the Combine, timed 4.59 and also completed 21 reps on the bench.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Thursday, April 2, 6:55 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

Washington
Marcus Peters and Shaq Thompson both stood on their 40 times from the combine, but each performed position drills and looked very good.

Especially Peters.

I’m told he was fast, fluid and smooth. His backpedal, which has been questioned by some, was quick as was his transition.

Peters has 17 official visits. He had dinner with the New York Jets last night, is having dinner with the New Orleans Saints this evening and met extensively with the Cleveland Browns. I’m told the Baltimore Ravens are hoping he’ll be available for them at the end of Round 1.

Shaq Thompson weighed in at 228 pounds then completed 28 reps on the bench. He did both linebacker and defensive back drills and looked very athletic in both. Thompson had dinner with Mike Nolan of the San Diego Chargers last night and is scheduled to eat with the Carolina Panthers this evening. He presently has nine visits on his schedule.

Danny Shelton tipped the scales at 338 pounds, one less than at the combine. I’m told he also looked good in drills, but the love for Shelton in the outside world is not shared by decision-makers in war rooms, who feel he’s a bit one-dimensional in his game.

Earlier, I reported Hau’Oli Kikaha timed in the mid- to high 4.9-second range (4.97 seconds) in the 40 after weighing 243 pounds, 10 less than at the combine. To be fair, I received some texts later with slightly faster times (low 4.9-second range). Regardless, Kikaha’s lack of speed confirmed a lot of fears, and I’ve been told since the combine, a number of teams have removed him from their boards over medical concerns.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Thursday, April 2, 6:45 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

Maryland
There was a large crowd on hand at Maryland’s pro day as more than 42 NFL personnel people representing 30 teams made the trip.

Included amongst them were New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichik as well as the team’s director of personal Nick Cesario, New York Giants VP of player evaluation Marc Ross, Minnesota Vikings director of college scouting Jamaal Stephenson, as well as assistant coaches from the Cincinnati Bengals, Indianapolis Colts, Miami Dolphins and Philadelphia Eagles. Amongst the teams not on hand were the New York Jets.

It was a windy day outside, and players ran the 40 into, then with, the wind.

As far as the testing numbers are concerned linebacker Yannik Cudjoe-Virgil, who did not workout at the combine due to a patella injury, timed as fast as 4.74 seconds – with the wind (W) – with 4.88 seconds – against the wind (A), in the 40. He also touched 30 inches on the vertical jump, 9-10 in the board and completed 27 reps on the bench. His short shuttle timed 4.25 seconds with a 3-cone time of 7.23 seconds. I’m told Cudjoe-Virgil looked smooth and explosive in drills.

Receiver Stefon Diggs stood on his 40 number from the combine, but timed 4.11 seconds in the short shuttle, almost two-tenths better than in Indianapolis. He also completed 11 reps on the bench. Feedback from Diggs’ position work has been all positive as the receiver, who measured 6-0 1/4, 191 pounds, ran scissor-sharp routes and caught the ball very well. Over the course of the past two days, Diggs has met with the New England Patriots, Oakland Raiders, Minnesota Vikings, Miami Dolphins, Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers.

Linebacker Cole Farrand, who was not invited to the combine, measured 6-2 1/2, 231 pounds, touched 34 1/2 inches in the vertical jump and 10-1 in the broad. His 40 times clocked 4.82 seconds (A) and 4.63 seconds (W). The average of 4.72 seconds is a terrific mark for Farrand. His other marks included 4.2 seconds in the short shuttle and 6.87 seconds in the 3-cone drill. Farrand also looked good in position drills and made money for himself today.

Fellow linebacker L.A. Goree timed 5.03 seconds (A) and 4.82 seconds (W) in the 40 after measuring 6-1 3/4, 231 pounds.

Cornerback Jeremiah Johnson, who sat out the 2013 campaign with a knee issue after playing better than New York Jets third-round pick DexterMcDougle in 2012, had an average time of 4.68 seconds in the 40.

Defensive tackle Darius Kilgo, a surprise non-invite to the combine, measured 6-2 7/8, 313 pounds, completed 33 reps on the bench, touched 24 inches in the vertical jump and 8-0 in the broad. His times were nothing special (5.19 seconds (W) in the 40, 7.6 seconds in the 3-cone) but Kilgo looked terrific in position drills.

Not so for receiver Deon Long who ran the 40 in 4.67 seconds (A) and 4.58 seconds (W), and then struggled in catching the ball later in drills and had a number of drops.

Former safety turned outside linebacker Matt Robinson measured 6-3 1/8, 247 pounds, timed 4.87 seconds (A) and 4.64 seconds (W) in the 40 and 7.16 seconds in the 3-cone. He completed 13 reps on the bench, touched 34 inches in the vertical and 10-1 in the broad.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Thursday, April 2, 1:05 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

An early end to the week due to the Easter holiday sees Washington, Maryland and Florida Atlantic on the pro-day schedule. Florida Atlantic is under way but let’s tie up some loose ends.

Stony Brook
There were but a few prospects working out at Stony Brook’s pro-day, yet they are all under-the-radar players with practice-squad potential.

The star of the show was receiver Adrian Coxson, who measured 6-1 7/8, 209 pounds, timed 4.42 seconds in the 40, posted a 34-inch vertical jump and 9-3 broad jump. Coxson, who has workouts set up with the New York Jets, New York Giants and Baltimore Ravens, also completed 15 reps on the bench press. He’s set to take an official visit to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Tight end Will Tye, the Florida State transfer, also ran blistering times, clocking in the low 4.5-second range (4.53). Tye weighed in at 263 pounds entering the season.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Wednesday, April 1, 6:20 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

South Carolina
I’m told A.J. Cann struggled through the workout today with a calf strain and was unable to participate in the shuttle drills. Moving forward, Cann has a combined 14 visits and workouts, so there are no plans for him to attempt a make-up workout.

Buster Anderson, who as first reported this morning has a grade-2 hamstring strain which prevented him from working out, will schedule a workout likely as close to April 22 as possible. I’m told the workout will be done in reverse for precautions, as Anderson will do position drills first and save the timing events for last.

After scorching the track in the 40, receiver Damiere Byrd looked just as effective in position drills, catching everything thrown to him and practicing to his 40 speed.

Can’t say the same for running back Mike Davis. While he was faster and looked a bit slimmer, sources say his conditioning was “not ideal,” as Davis was not running through drills and struggled to get through pass-catching drills. Interesting note – the Dallas Cowboys sent a coach to specifically observe Davis. During the workout, which was run by the Tampa Bay Bucs, the Cowboys’ coach was requesting for Davis to run specific drills. Shades of Tom Savage/Bill O’Brien from last year?

2015 Pro Day Notes: Wednesday, April 1, 5:20 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

Miami
The day belonged to receiver Phillip Dorsett.

As reported earlier, Dorsett blistered in the 40 and improved his already fast time from the Combine. Afterward, Dorsett was nothing short of sensational during position drills. He ran crisp routes, caught everything thrown in his direction and most importantly, practiced to his 40 time. People who’ve been attending Hurricane pro days for more than a decade told me Dorsett’s performance today was the best they’ve ever witnessed at a Miami pro day.

Yesterday I reported Dorsett had dinner with the New Orleans Saints. Today I can tell you they are bringing the speedy wideout in for a visit. I can also inform that head coach Sean Payton and Jeff Ireland were on the sidelines gushing over Dorsett and talked about what a great fit the receiver would be for their offense.

Running back Duke Johnson timed under 4.5 (4.48), which is faster than his Combine mark.

As reported earlier, Denzel Perryman went down with a hamstring injury at the end of his second run, and I’m hearing it’s pretty significant. How this affects Perryman during his individual workouts moving forward is something to keep watch of.

I’m told defensive end Anthony Chickillo came to the workout a little lighter, and was used exclusively at linebacker during position drills, but struggled. He was stiff and looked poor trying to backpedal in coverage drills.

Ladarius Gunter looked smooth and fluid in drills, while Clive Walford, who was struggling with a hamstring issue, was put through a grueling workout by the Cincinnati Bengals.

Ball State
Ball State moved its pro day to accommodate running back Jahwan Edwards, who was struggling with a hamstring issue. Edwards’ marks from today included 4.64 in the 40, 7.14 3-cone and 4.34 in the short shuttle.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Wednesday, April 1, 1:50 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

South Carolina
I’m told Corey Robinson looks a lot lighter now that he did at any point in the season. His movement skills were pretty impressive for such a big blocker, and many came away believing he has the makings to grow into a starting right tackle at the next level.

I’m told A.J. Cann also looked very good in drills. He moved well, and as previously posted on Twitter, he was worked at center. Cann leaves the workout with most believing he won’t get out of the second round.

The Philadelphia Eagles, New Orleans Saints, New England Patriots, Arizona Cardinals and Baltimore Ravens all had offensive line coaches on hand.

Quarterback Dylan Thompson looked sharp and did not have an incomplete pass all day. He was accurate with his throws and displayed good velocity on the ball. Thompson also timed as fast as 4.65 in the 40 and touched 35 inches in the vertical jump.

Wideout Damiere Byrd, the recipient of Thompson’s throws, timed as fast as 4.29 in the 40.

Washington State
Seventeen teams were on hand to watch receiver Vince Mayle work out. Included were receiver coaches from the Carolina Panthers, Seattle Seahawks and Atlanta Falcons.

As you may remember, Mayle broke his thumb at the Senior Bowl but still performed at the Combine. His 40 times today have stretched as low as 4.56 to the mid 4.6s. The former represents a .1-second improvement from Combine hand times. The pass-catching workout, which is being run by Jim Zorn, is just underway.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Wednesday, April 1, 11:50 a.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

Miami
The track is fast for Hurricane pro day as many of the top-rated prospects have improved their 40 times from the Combine.

Receiver Philip Dorsett, who finished with a best official hand time at the Combine of 4.28, was slightly faster today at 4.27.

Early reports I’m receiving say linebacker Denzel Perryman hurt his hamstring in the 40 and his day may be over.

South Carolina
Offensive lineman A.J. Cann, who suffered a left calf strain at the Combine and only completed the bench press is taking part today. Thus far, he’s improved his bench press number by four and completed 30 reps, touched an impressive 32.5 inches in the vertical jump and 9-1 in the broad. Cann’s height-weight at the combine was 6-2 3/4, 313 pounds.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Wednesday, April 1, 11:30 a.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

South Carolina, Miami and Ball State are all on tap today after a busy Tuesday on the pro-day schedule. First some notes from yesterday:

Notre Dame
Notre Dame is usually a pro day many look forward to, but with the scarcity of next-level prospects and intense interest in Florida State and UConn yesterday, it fell by the wayside.

Tight end Ben Koyack, who chose not to workout at the Combine, timed 4.72 and 4.76 in the 40 after weighing in at 257 pounds. He also completed 16 reps on the bench press, touched 30 inches in the vertical jump and 9-8 in the broad.

South Carolina
The Gamecocks’ workout is just beginning, and I can tell you tight end Buster Anderson, who did not work out at the Combine due to a torn triceps he was rehabilitating, suffered a grade-2 hamstring strain earlier this week. As a result, he will not workout today but is expected to schedule a private pro-day workout in the coming weeks.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Tuesday, March 31, 9:00 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

Florida State
Let’s start with quarterback Jameis Winston, whom I thought had a terrific day.

Winston was loose and relaxed, and he set the tempo of the day rather than letting the enormity of the event overtake him. Winston threw more than 100 passes and was off the mark on just a few. I noticed a few times he was a bit high on throws, likely due to overthrowing the ball. I thought he was on balance and really didn’t make receivers work hard to catch the ball, which is what you want in this sort of pitch-and-catch drill. He’s definitely not Andrew Luck- or Matt Ryan-like in his pass placement, but you’d have to conclude he was accurate.

Backup tight end Kevin Halpea really helped himself. After running the 40 under 4.7, then being the prime tight end on the field after Nick O’Leary was sidelined with a hamstring injury, Halpea looked good catching the ball. He’s definitely moved from camp invite fodder to undrafted free agent status.

Mario Edwards Jr. was down in weight and looked very athletic in drills. He was fluid moving in every direction and looked explosive. That sets up a quandary for teams; is Edwards just making a money grab in the run-up to the draft, or has he changed his tune and is ready to play to his level of ability?

Eddie Goldman looked slow and sluggish in testing (5.30/40, 4.85 short shuttle) but picked up the pace during position drills.

I thought receiver Rashad Greene was disappointing. He’s quick with a burst, but dropped at least one deep throw which was right on the money.

Offensive lineman Bobby Hart was also disappointing. A 5.65 40 at 325 pounds, 22 reps on the bench and 27 inches in the vertical jump, followed by an average positional workout. On film, Hart is a better prospect but teams will not like the fact he showed little in the way of athleticism or strength.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Tuesday, March 31, 3:45 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

Yale
Today was the day Tyler Varga, who did not participate in the combine due to a bone spur on his ankle, worked out for scouts. Twenty-nine teams were on hand with only the Washington Redskins, Cincinnati Bengals and Houston Texans not in attendance.

Early numbers coming in from the afternoon workout included Varga tipping the scale at 222 pounds (same as the combine) before touching 38 1/2 inches in the vertical jump and 9-9 in the broad. His 40 time was clocked as fast as 4.64 seconds with 4.22 seconds in the short shuttle and 7.13 seconds in the 3-cone. Varga stood on his combine bench mark of 23 reps.

Also participating in the workout was safety Gordon Hill of Sacred Heart. The small-school prospect timed 4.55 seconds in the 40 after weighing in at 212 pounds. He completed 17 reps on the bench, posted a 37-inch vertical jump and 9-10 broad jump. His short shuttle timed 4.25 seconds and his 3-cone was 7.20 seconds.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Tuesday, March 31, 3:30 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

Connecticut
The word from UConn pro day was Byron Jones did better than expected.

As previously mentioned, Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer ran the workout, even coaching Jones at one point on specific techniques he employs with his cornerbacks. I further confirmed the 40 times on Jones, as most teams had him in the mid 4.3s on his first attempt and slightly slower on the second run.

I’m told the Carolina Panthers met with Jones last night then again today after the workout, while the New England Patriots had breakfast with the cornerback this morning.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Tuesday, March 31, 11:55 a.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

Big day on the pro-day calendar as Florida State and UConn work out, as does Tyler Varga of Yale.

Connecticut
Besides Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly and Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer, the Tampa Bay Bucs, Jacksonville Jaguars and Chicago Bears sent defensive back coaches. I’m told all 32 teams are in attendance.

The results for Byron Jones have been good thus far. Barely five months removed from labrum surgery, Jones completed 18 reps on the bench press and turned in times as fast as 4.36 on a number of watches.

I’m told Mike Zimmer is running the workout.

Florida State
It’s a media frenzy in Tallahassee to watch Jameis Winston, but the teams are on hand to observe the rest of the Seminole prospects.

The Minnesota Vikings have four people on hand, including general manager Rick Spielman. I’m told the franchise is concentrating on the FSU defensive backs. Sean Peyton and Rob Ryan of the New Orleans Saints are also on hand.

The unofficial 40 time for P.J. Williams stands at 4.47. He also touched 41.5 inches in the vertical (40 inches at the Combine) and 11-2 in the broad (11-feet Combine).

Backup tight end Kevin Haplea timed 4.67 in the 40. I’m told Nick O’Leary tweaked his hamstring again, did not run the 40, and may not participate in position drills.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Monday, March 30, 4:40 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

South Alabama
There was a nice crowd on hand for the South Alabama pro day, primarily to watch three prospects.

Tight end Wes Saxton stood on his combine 40 time (4.65s) but after weighing in at 253 pounds (five more than Indianapolis), he completed 19 reps on the bench. Saxton did not bench at the combine.

In pass-catching drills, I’m told Saxton looked terrific. He lined up as a conventional tight end, in the slot as well as out on the flanks and seamlessly caught the ball.

The Miami Dolphins, who sent their tight ends coach to the pro day, privately worked out Saxton after most of the teams had left. Tomorrow, Saxton will work out for the Atlanta Falcons then have dinner with the team.

Quarterback Brandon Bridge displayed his legendary arm for teams, and though slightly more accurate than the season, he was still all over the place with a lot of his passes.

Keep an eye on Melvin Meggs, whom I rate as a possible seventh-round pick at guard. Meggs wasthe starting left tackle for the Jaguars two of the last three seasons, sitting on the sidelines in 2013 with a knee injury.

Today, he measured 6-2 6/8, 299 pounds, timed 5.15 seconds in the 40, 7.18 seconds in the 3-cone drill and 4.64 seconds in the short shuttle. Teams had Meggs work out at guard and center, asking him to snap the ball. He moved very well and was fluid in drills. As someone told me, they were surprised such a “bottom-heavy guy” (thick legs) moved so well.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Monday, March 30, 4:30 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

UMass
Almost a dozen teams, including the Denver Broncos and Washington Redskins, were on hand to watch tight end Jean Sifrin try and improve on his combine marks.

The junior did as much, timing 4.78 seconds in the 40 after measuring 6-5 1/2, 243 pounds. He completed 15 reps on the bench and finished with a 9-10 broad, another improvement from Indianapolis.

In position drills, Sifrin looked good, catching all but one pass, a fade pattern at the end of the workout.

CSU-Pueblo
I’m told the Miami Dolphins, Dallas Cowboys, Pittsburgh Steelers and Denver Broncos are in Pubelo at the time of this posting, watching quarterback Chris Bonner throw. More as it comes in.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Monday, March 30, 2:40 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

Samford
Almost two dozen teams were on hand for safety Jaquiski Tartt, including defensive back coaches from the Carolina Panthers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Detroit Lions, Arizona Cardinals and Cleveland Browns.

Tartt, who met with the Browns and Lions yesterday, ran 40 times of 4.45 with the wind and 4.54 against the wind on a slippery field that was still recovering from a weekend storm. Tartt then performed well in position drills, displaying good ball skills.

Also taking part in the workout was Miles cornerback Travis Lee, who stood on his times from an earlier workout. The St Louis Rams, who’ve been hot on Lee’s trail, again commented on how much they like the cornerback after watching him today.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Monday, March 30, 11:55 a.m. (12:35 p.m. update)
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

A light Monday schedule starts off the final major week of pro-day workouts. Indiana, minus running back Tevin Coleman, takes to the field today, as does South Alabama.

Indiana
As we first reported at the start of the month, Coleman, who had foot surgery back in December, will have his own personal pro-day on April 15.

The Hoosiers have a number of underrated prospects to keep an eye on, starting with receiver Shane Wynn. Early word is the speedy Wynn ran as fast as expected, clocking times that ranged from 4.25 to 4.29. Wynn also touched 36-inches in the vertical jump and completed 13 reps on the bench.

Center Collin Rahrig, who met individually with the Cleveland Browns before pro-day, will be limited after undergoing surgery on his pectoral muscle. Rharig has flown under the radar despite looking terrific during Shrine Game practice.

12:35 p.m. update:

More on Shane Wynn:

The receiver measured a tiny 5-6, 167 pounds and posted a broad jump of 10 feet. By all accounts, scouts were pleased with his position work, especially the way he tracked then adjusted to deep receptions. Wynn led Indiana with 56 receptions for 708 yards last season and was the team’s primary punt returner while sharing duties returning kicks. He’s setting himself up nicely for camp this summer as a slot receiver/return specialist.

By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

Missouri Western
Missouri Western is a large affair where prospects from all over the state gather for pro day. I’m told 16 teams were on hand to watch almost 50 players workout. I’m also told only 20 percent of the players were asked to participate in position drills based on their 40 times.

Davon Walls of Lincoln University, by way of Syracuse, measured 6-5 1/8, 295 pounds, completed 26 reps on the bench, touched 25 inches on the vertical and 9 feet in the broad. He timed 4.96/5.01 in the 40, then looked good in drills. Scouts on hand felt he made himself some money today.

Matt Longacre, the MIAA Defensive Player of the Year and an AFCA All-American from Northwest Missouri State, measured 6-3 1/4, 261 pounds, timed 4.75 in the 40, 6.95 in the 3-cone. His vertical jump was 33 inches and broad 9-10. He also completed 22 reps on the bench.

Southern
Scouts were impressed by a pair of defensive linemen.

Arthur Miley measured 6-5 5/8, 263 pounds and timed 4.78 in the 40. He completed 17 reps on thebench, touched 34 inches in the vertical jump and 9-6 in the broad.

Jaylen Jordan measured 6-3 7/8, 298 pounds, timed 4.97 in the 40 and completed 24 reps on thebench.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Friday, March 27, 7:05 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

LSU
From all accounts, the LSU pro day was a long, drawn-out affair.

I’m told Danielle Hunter looked tremendous. He performed the shuttles, 3-cone (6.97) and jumps (10-10 broad, 36.5-inch vertical jump) then looked terrific in linebacker drills. The feeling from those in LSU was Hunter should’ve stayed in school another season, but based on his game film, athletic numbers and the workouts he had at the combine and pro day, I wouldn’t be surprised if he slides into the late part of round one.

La’el Collins stood on his Combine numbers but was another who looked good in position drills. Sources at the school told me he met with the New York Giants and Cleveland Browns yesterday, and he had meetings with the San Francisco 49ers and New Orleans Saints today.

Safety Ronald Martin showed flashes of ability. He timed 4.59 in the 40 and 7.11 in the3-cone. Martin weighed in at 200 pounds today, almost 18 pounds lower than his weight during the season. Sources at the school inform me the New England Patriots worked out Martin yesterday.

TCU
More on Paul Dawson:

His weight of 230 pounds today was five pounds lighter than the combine, when he tipped the scale at 235 pounds. Dawson posted a long jump of 10-0, 11 inches better than his combine mark. Dawson’s drill work was fantastic as he looked smooth, quick and explosive.

Why was he so much better today than a month ago? I’m told Dawson strained a hamstring during his initial attempt in the 40 at the combine, but chose to soldier through the rest of the workout.

Was today’s performance enough to push Dawson into the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft? Well, it was likely enough to keep him in the top 45.

Dawson met with the Minnesota Vikings last night and has an official visit to the team’s facility in the coming weeks. He’ll also be visiting the Carolina Panthers. Dawson will also be working out for the New England Patriots.

I’m told cornerback Kevin White improved on his combine time in the 40, hitting in the mid-4.5-second range on most watches and then looked good in drills.

North Dakota State
Kyle Emanuel was the hot property at North Dakota State’s pro day as the small-school star, who sat on his combine numbers and just did position drills, was worked out at three separate positions.

Besides doing defensive line drills, the Philadelphia Eagles worked him at linebacker drills. The team feels Emanuel can line up on the outside or in the middle of their scheme.

The Jacksonville Jaguars put Emanuel through fullback drills.

Emanuel has an official visit set up with the Pittsburgh Steelers and will be working out for the Minnesota Vikings on Monday.

This is the second linebacker we’ve reported the Vikings have worked out or met with one on one in the past 24 hours. Yesterday, I reported the team spent time with Nate Orchard of Utah. Several weeks ago on this page, I reported the franchise was in Michigan to see Jake Ryan. Bottom line? I fully expect the Vikings to grab a linebacker in Round 2, 3 or 4 during the 2015 NFL Draft.

Eric Rowe
An update on the busy schedule of Eric Rowe.

The New England Patriots are visiting with him today and are expected to do a bit of film work and maybe a light practice session with the defensive back. I’m told on Monday, the Philadelphia Eagles will be in to work out Rowe.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Friday, March 27, 2:55 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

Busy final Friday on the pro-day schedule as LSU and TCU take to the field.

Yesterday, I mentioned defensive back Eric Rowe was making an assault north up draft boards and is a favorite of the Philadelphia Eagles. I’m told he looked terrific in position drills yesterday and was smooth as well as athletic. I’ve been told for weeks his schedule is bulging at the seams with visits and workouts. This week alone, prior to yesterday’s pro day, Rowe had worked out for the Houston Texans, a workout which Marvin Lewis sat in on, had a private workout with the Cleveland Browns who sent their defensive backs coach to Utah to have dinner with Rowe, and met with the DallasCowboys at length the day prior to pro day. More on Rowe’s schedule later.

As I posted on twitter earlier, additional teams have scheduled official visits with Randy Gregory since the breaking news earlier this week. As stated the Pittsburgh Steelers and San Diego Chargers are amongst the new suitors who will bring Gregory in. The belief is both New York teams, the Jets and Giants, also have a lot of interest in Gregory, though I’ve not confirmed a visit with him from either squad.

TCU
Early returns on Paul Dawson have been very good. I’ve been hearing times that range between 4.72 seconds to a high of 4.78 seconds. I’m told the official time is likely to come in around 4.73 seconds. Dawson weighed in at 230 pounds and looked terrific in position drills.

Safety Chris Hackett also improved on his combine 40 time, clocking in the low 4.7-second range.

Linebacker Jonathan Anderson, who looked like an NFL prospect in 2013 before falling off the map last season, completed 26 reps on the bench and timed 4.57 seconds in the 40.

Junior running back B.J. Catalon was slightly disappointing at 4.52 seconds in the 40.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Thursday, March 26, 8:45 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

Utah
I’m waiting for more information on defensive back Eric Rowe, but I can confirm something that I’ve been told over the past few weeks; Rowe is flying up draft boards and most feel there’s no way he gets out of the second round. I’m told the Philadelphia Eagles are very high on Rowe, who’s drawing intrigue based on his size/speed and ability to line-up at either cornerback or safety.

Nate Orchard completed 23 reps on the bench and looked terrific in position drills. I’m told since last night, Orchard met with the Cleveland Browns, who project him to linebacker, the Indianapolis Colts, who project him to defensive end, as well as the Minnesota Vikings at length.

Offensive guard Junior Salt measured 6-2, 325 pounds, completed 32 reps and ran 5.29 in the 40. The New England Patriots sat with Salt after the workout.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Thursday, March 26, 6:50 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

Houston
The Cougars’ long-awaited pro day took place today as junior receiver Deontay Greenberry, who was not invited to the Combine, took the field. I’m told 30 of the league’s teams were on hand with only the New York Jets and Baltimore Ravens not in attendance.

Greenberry measured 6-1, 211 pounds, and people said he looked ripped and fit. His marks included 35.5 inches in the vertical jump, 9-8 in the broad jump and 21 reps on the bench. Greenberry timed in the low 4.5s in the 40, 4.31 in the short shuttle and 7.21 in the 3-cone. The early impressions were Greenberry looked good.

Defensive tackle Joey Mbu timed 5.50 in the 40, 7.89 in the 3-cone and 4.84 in the short shuttle. He completed 21 reps on the bench. Mbu looked solid in drills and is drawing interest from the Washington Redskins, Green Bay Packers and Houston Texans, who will be working him out.

Linebacker Derrick Matthews measured 5-11 5/8, 232 pounds, and completed 26 reps on the bench. Matthews did not run or jump, as he’s still recovering from a knee ligament he tore in the middle of last season. It will be a wait-and-see scenario on whether or not Matthews runs prior to the draft.

Defensive end/outside linebacker Gavin Stansbury, the transfer from Texas A&M, looked good in spots. Stansbury measured 6-3 1/4, 255 pounds, posted a 33-inch vertical jump, 9-7 broad and 25 reps on the bench. His times included 4.94 in the 40, 4.83 in the short shuttle and 7.58 in the 3-cone. He was solid in position drills, looking more athletic than his testing numbers. As someone remarked, Stansbury is a good football player, not a great athlete.

Linebacker Efrem Oliphant measured 6-0 3/8, 228 pounds, posted a vertical jump of 32-inches and a broad of 9-9, and completed 27 reps on the bench. He timed 4.68 in the 40, 4.38 in the short shuttle and 6.99 in the 3-cone.

Texas Southern
Twenty-five scouts were on hand for Texas Southern pro day, primarily to watch little-known cornerback Tray Walker, who did not disappoint.

Walker measured 6-2 3/4, 189 pounds, posted 36.5-inch vertical jump and 10-7 broad jump. His 40 times included a wind-aided 4.44 and 4.51 against the wind. Walker also clocked a 4.05 in the short shuttle and a 3-cone, which dipped under 6.7.

Walker has a host of official visits, including the Arizona Cardinals, Oakland Raiders, San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks, Atlanta Falcons, Denver Broncos, Dallas Cowboys and New Orleans Saints.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Thursday, March 26, 2:10 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

East Carolina
It was rainy and cold in Greenville, which caused problems for the East Carolina pro day. The 40 was run indoors on a fast track and the shuttles were run in less-than-ideal conditions.

Receiver Justin Hardy timed 4.4 in the 40, but due to the track, scouts decided to add .2 to the time – a bit much in my opinion. I’m told Hardy will end up with an average time in the 4.5s, slightly better than his combine performance. As of posting, he was outside catching passes in poor conditions.

Defensive tackle Terry Williams measured 5-11 7/8, 329 pounds, down 30 pounds from his playing weight of 360. He completed 22 reps on the bench, had a vertical jump of 24 inches and broad jump of 8-4. Williams ran one 40 (no time yet) then pulled up with a hamstring issue on the second attempt and was unable to participate in drills.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Wednesday, March 25, 8:45 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

Nevada
Almost a dozen teams were on hand for Nevada’s pro day, primarily to watch quarterback Cody Fajardo, who threw the deep ball well. Fajardo went through a scripted workout of about 54 passes and showed impressive deep accuracy. Of interest were that the New York Giants, Green Bay Packers, St. Louis Rams, New England Patriots, Buffalo Bills and San Diego Charges were on hand.

Kansas
Running back Tony Pierson measured just over 5-9, 174lbs. He touched 37 inches on the vertical jump, 11-2 in the broad and timed in the high 4.3-second range in the 40 (outside in 50-degree weather) as well as in the high 6.7-second area in the 3-cone drill.

Cornerback JaCorey Shepherd, who is still struggling from the hamstring he injured during the Senior Bowl, reportedly timed in the 4.6-second range.

Randy Gregory
Team sources tell me Gregory has private workouts with the Washington Redskins, Atlanta Falcons and Oakland Raiders over the next week. In preparation, he ran his own individual combine that was videotaped, and I would assume is available for teams.

During the workout, Gregory weighed 243 pounds, completed 26 reps on the bench and timed 4.53 seconds in the 40, including a 10-yard split of 1.56 seconds. All the marks represent an improvement from his performance at the combine.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Wednesday, March 25, 6:40 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

Fresno State
Today marked the return of safety Derron Smith, who has been out the past three months with a sports hernia. For the most part, Smith’s return was a success. He posted a 34-inch vertical jump, 10-3 broad jump and 18 reps on the bench. His times included mid 4.5s in the 40 and 4.22 in the short shuttle; not bad considering he’s 10 weeks removed from sports hernia surgery. I’m told Smith looked really fluid and smooth in the drills. Despite the surgery, he came to the workout looking fit.

The Oakland Raiders, Jacksonville Jaguars, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Indianapolis Colts all had defensive back coaches in attendance, and all spent time with Smith.

Receiver Josh Harper timed in the low 4.5s, though there were some high 4.4s on watches. He also caught the ball incredibly well. He ran scissor-sharp routes and displayed soft/strong hands.

Defensive tackle Tyler Davison measured in at 316 pounds and timed 5.12 in the 40, faster than his Combine mark. The Miami Dolphins put Davison through the defensive line workout. On Monday of this week, Davison worked out for the Houston Texans, and last week, the Arizona Cardinals privately worked him out.

I’m told 30 teams were in attendance at the Fresno State pro day.

Rice
Receiver Jordan Taylor timed an official 4.47 in the 40 while also posting a 37-inch vertical jump and 10-9 broad. We’re waiting for his 3-cone time, which I’m told was very fast.

Cornerback Bryce Callahan turned a few heads, timing 4.32 in the 40, while touching 43.5 inches in the vertical jump and 11 feet in the broad jump.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Wednesday, March 25, 2:00 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

Today’s pro-day schedule includes Kansas, Rice and an important workout in Orlando as Central Florida receiver Breshad Perriman runs for scouts. Results are starting to trickle in.

Kansas
Jimmay Mundine, the underrated move tight end/H-back, measured 6-1 5/8, 240 pounds, touched 38 inches in the vertical and 10-1 inthe broad jump. He also completed 20 reps on the bench. Still waiting on a 40 time.

Receiver Nigel King timed 4.55 seconds in the 40 while defensive back Dexter McDonald was a very swift4.39 seconds.

But the big story at the Kansas pro-day is the performance of a receiver from Pittsburg State.

Gavin Lutman was a bit of an unknown to scouts as he was unable to attend junior timing day a year ago while Pittsburg State figured out his eligibility. On the field in 2014, Lutman produced 70 receptions for 1,196 yards and 13 scores.

At today’s workout, Lutman turned heads with his testing numbers. His measurements were 6-3, 214 pounds, and he then went on to touch 36 inches in the vertical jump, 10-5 in the broad jump and time 4.46 seconds in the 40. Lutman’s 3-cone drill was a swift 6.65 seconds and, he was timed at 4.09 seconds in the short shuttle.

Scouts were evidently beside themselves as to not even ranking Lutman through the season. Compared to Jon Brown, the former Pittsburg State star coming off to a tremendous rookie campaign in the NFL, scouts say Lutman, though slower, has a size advantage and is more natural catching at the ball.

Gorilla safety Keeston Terry posted a 34-inch vertical jump and a 10-2 broad jump, and timed 4.65 seconds in the 40, 4.2 seconds in the short shuttle and 6.78 seconds in the 3-cone. His 60-yard shuttle was an amazing 11.07 seconds. Assuming the time holds up, only three players at the combine (one which ironically was Kansas linebacker Ben Heeney) turned in a better mark.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Tuesday, March 24, 7:55 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

Iowa State
There was a large showing at the Iowa State pro day, as almost two dozen teams were in attendance, including Cincinnati Bengals’ tight end coach John Hayes.

The main attraction was tight end E.J. Bibbs, who did not run at the Combine due to a left knee bone bruise. Today, Bibbs ran 4.79/4.84 in the 40, touched 31.5 inches in the vertical jump, 9-7 in the broad jump and completed 22 reps on the bench, two more than his Combine number. His short shuttle timed 4.25 and 3-cone 7.22. Bibbs ran crisp routes, and everyone in attendance agreed he caught the ball very well. After the workout, Bibbs spent close to 30 minutes with the Bengals, working the white board and interviewing.

Sleeper Thomas Farniok, the Iowa State center, also had a good showing. He measured 6-3, 1/8, 302 pounds, completed 23 on the bench despite having five repetitions taken away for poor technique, and touched 30 inches in the broad jump. His 40 timed 5.28 and short shuttle 4.57. Farnoik has been a consistent player at Iowa State and is much more athletic than his computer numbers read.

Cory Morrissey had a tremendous day. He measured 6-3, 256 pounds, posted a 34-inch vertical jump, 9-9 broad jump, and then timed 4.67/4.71 in the 40. Morrissey, who lined up at defensive end for the Cyclones, looked good in defensive end and linebacker drills. He also caught the ball very well, and some feel he could get looks at fullback.

Also working out was well-traveled running back Brandon Wegher, the former Iowa freshman sensation who played for Morningside College last season. While Wegher looked the part today, scouts in attendance feel he has too much baggage to be brought into camp.

Not in attendance was former Iowa State defensive lineman David Irving, whom I’m told is not allowed on campus.

Note: Today was incorrectly listed as East Carolina’s pro day. The Pirates will be working out for scouts this Thursday.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Monday, March 23, 6:55 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

N.C. State
Results are still coming in on the N.C. State pro day, but early returns say offensive tackle Tyson Chandler was the big winner.

The massive blocker measured 6-7 1/4, 330 pounds, down 28 pounds from his playing weight last season. His arm measured 36 1/2 inches and his wingspan an incredible 88 inches.

Chandler’s marks included 31 reps on the bench, a 28-inch vertical jump, a 9-4 broad jump and a 40 time around 5.25 seconds. He looked incredibly athletic during position drills for such a large lineman. In fact, most said Chandler was the best offensive lineman in attendance and not Rob Crisp. Chandler was smooth and easily flipped his hips in drills. Scouts commended Chandler on his conditioning, and long-time Oakland Raiders scout and former lineman Mickey Marvin heaped praise on him.

Chandler will be working out for the New York Jets in a few weeks.

Georgia Southern
Near a half-dozen teams were on hand for the Georgia Southern workout, primarily to watch Valdon Cooper.

The cornerback measured 5-10 1/4, 184 pounds, posted a 35-inch vertical jump, a 10-0 broad jump and completed 15 reps on the bench. His 40 time ranged in the 4.51-second area with 7.01 seconds in the 3-cone drill. Graded as a priority free agent before the season, Cooper has the skills to make a roster at the next level as a dimeback/special teams player.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Monday, March 23, 6:45 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

Colorado State
The big event today was the throwing workout of Garret Grayson, who did not throw or work out at the combine due to a strained hamstring. Grayson, who ran the 40 at the end of the day by design to make sure he got his throwing workout completed, timed in the high 4.5-, low 4.6-second range.

The 40 was a side note to his passing workout. Grayson threw 74 passes and missed on just three, with a fourth one being an outright drop. He displayed both touch as well as the ability to throw the ball with tremendous velocity today, and the reviews have been positive.

Thirteen teams were on hand, including the Cleveland Browns, who took Grayson to dinner last night. The New York Jets were well represented at the pro day, and Grayson has private workouts scheduled with the San Diego Chargers, St. Louis Rams and Buffalo Bills.

The team that seems to be highest on Grayson is the hometown Denver Broncos. The feeling is Grayson is the most capable of running the system that Gary Kubiak will employ in Denver; a system similar to the one Grayson ran at Colorado State. He also has the arm strength necessary to get the ball through the cutting winds that often blow through the Mile High City. There’s also a strong belief Brock Osweiler, who’s in the final year of his rookie contract, won’t be with Denver after this season.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Sunday, March 22, 10:40 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

Some interesting workouts on the pro-day schedule are in store this week. Iowa, Texas, LSU as well as Fresno State fill the calendar while Garrett Grayson will finally throw for scouts.

Before we get underway here are a few more results from last week.

Penn State
The official time sheet showed offensive tackle Donovan Smith with a time of 5-seconds flat in the 40 with a 10-yard split of 1.75 seconds (versus 5.18 and 1.81 seconds at the combine).

Guard Miles Dieffenbach timed 5.34 seconds in the 40 with a very slow 10-yard split of 1.91 seconds. He only completed 24 reps on the bench.

While Deion Barnes did well on the bench, the rest of his marks were not so good. His 40 time clocked 4.92 seconds (1.70-second 10-yard split), his short shuttle was 4.38 seconds and 3-cone timed 7.29 seconds.

C.J. Olaniyan measured 6-3 1/2, 253 pounds, timed 4.82 seconds in the 40, 4.10 seconds in the 3-cone drill and touched 31 inches in the vertical jump.

Missing from the workout was running back/fullback Zach Zwinak, who played in just seven games last season before going down with a serious leg/foot injury.

Hawaii
Fullback Joey Iosefa measured 5-11 3/4, 243 pounds, completed 28 reps on the bench, timed a best of 4.77 seconds in the 40 and 7.09 seconds in the 3-cone.

Defensive end Beau Yap measured 6-0 3/4, 247 pounds, timed a best of 4.83 seconds in the 40 and 4.38 seconds in the 3-cone. His arm measured 29 7/8 inches with a 9 3/8-inch hand.

Center/guard Kody Afusia timed 5.26 seconds in the 40 at 303 pounds.

Defensive lineman Moses Samia, rated by scouts entering the season, did not take part in the workout.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Friday, March 20, 3:55 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

Central Michigan
Receiver Titus Davis stood on his Combine numbers and chose not to re-run the 40, but looked good in pass-catching drills. He was explosive running routes and caught the ball well. Many felt he may have secured himself as a late-round pick. Davis had dinner with the Tampa Bucs last night then sat down with the Cleveland Browns as well as the Miami Dolphins today.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Thursday, March 19, 8:40 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

New Hampshire
A pair of sleeper prospects from I-AA looked terrific during New Hampshire’s pro day.

Tight end Harold Spears timed 4.71 seconds in the 40 after measuring 6-3 6/8, 252 pounds. His other marks included 20 reps on the bench, 36 inches in the vertical jump and 9-10 in the broad.

Receiver R.J. Harris timed 4.51 and 4.55 seconds in the 40, a terrific mark for the big-bodied wideout who was estimated as a 4.70-second wide receiver by scouts.

The Oakland Raiders, Seattle Seahawks, New Orleans Saints, Indianapolis Colts and San Diego Chargers requested both players work out and each looked good in position drills.

Stanford
The Oakland Raiders were omnipresent at Stanford pro-day as I’m told at least a dozen people from the organization were in attendance today, including head coach Jack Del Rio and general manager Reggie McKenzie. One would point to proximity as the reason for the Raiders’ attendance, but considering some of the other pro-day events taking place today, there had to be something more.

Several have told me David Parry was the big winner and looked exceptional in all the drills. I can confirm it was Nick Caserio who met with Parry for a few hours yesterday. I was also told Parry was one of the Raiders’ targets today. Given the need for defensive tackles in the league and the overall lack of depth at the position in this year’s draft, the feeling leaving Stanford’s pro day was Parry could sneak into the third round.

Teammate Henry Anderson also had a solid workout. As someone explained his day to me, “Anderson does not look the prettiest doing it, but gets the job done.”

If there was a surprise of the day it was linebacker A.J. Tarpley. His times in the 40 clocked around 4.70 seconds, his short shuttle was close to 4 seconds flat and his other marks included 24 on the bench and 34 inches in the vertical jump. I’m told Tarpley himself was pleased with his entire day as he looked good in position drills. After the workout, the Washington Redskins were seen pulling him aside.

James Vaughters, the teams other senior linebacker, completed an impressive 35 reps on the bench as I’m told he was lickety-split to 28 then cranked out from that point. He touched 32.5 inches in the vertical jump and timed in the mid-4.8-second range in the 40. Vaughters was not nearly as impressive in position drills, looking stiff and unsure of himself.

The Iron Man award went to Andrus Peat. The junior offensive tackle first underwent a scripted workout which was reportedly run by former offensive line coach Alex Gibbs, which ran about 30 minutes. The Raiders and Bengals then put him through another 15 minutes of drills. The word on Peat’s workout was mostly positive, and he was understandably exhausted afterward.

Ty Montgomery ran solid routes and caught the ball better than expected. At the end of the pro day, he was taken aside by Houston Texans director of college scouting Jon Carr and put through additional pass-catching work.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Thursday, March 19, 4:30 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

Penn State
As previously reported, Donovan Smith was down almost 13 pounds from his Senior Bowl weight, tipping the scales at 328 pounds. I don’t have a 40 time as of yet, but the feedback I’m getting is he looked very athletic and fluid moving around the field.

Deion Barnes, who was a surprise non-invite to the combine, completed 31 bench-press reps after weighing in at 257 pounds.

Offensive lineman Miles Dieffenbach completed 24 reps on the bench while DE/OLB C.J. Olaniyan finished with 22.

Defensive back Adrian Amos tipped the scales as 215 pounds, completed 21 reps on the bench then timed 4.39 and 4.44 seconds in the 40.

Maine
The New England Patriots were the only team on hand for Maine’s pro day. Cornerback Axel Ofori measured 5-10 1/8 and 195 pounds, timed 4.56 and 4.58 seconds in the 40, and touched 40-inches in the vertical jump.

San Diego State
Receiver Ezell Ruffin will be working out for scouts on April 10th and won’t be taking part in the San Diego State workout today.

The Philadelphia Eagles have one of the offensive line coaches on hand, assumedly to watch Terry Poole of the Aztecs.

CSU-Pueblo quarterback Chris Bonner is taking part in the workout today as are a host of players from the University of Hawaii.

Missouri
Joey Porter, Mike Tomlin, Mike Nolan, Jon Dorsey, Scot McCloughan and Jeff Ireland were some of the big names on hand for the Missouri pro day. The Tennessee Titans and St. Louis Rams sent video crews to watch the workout.

Here’s what I’ve been told.

While he did not test as well as his teammate Shane Ray, Markus Golden looked terrific in drills and really impressed a lot of people. Most felt he helped himself immeasurably today.

Shane Ray is fast and very athletic, but many feel he’s to light to come out of a three-point stance and looked tight in his hips during drills.

Receiver Larry Sasser tested reasonably well. Besides the 40 time reported earlier, he touched 34 inches in the vertical jump and 10-0 in the broad. Jimmie Hunt posted a 32-inch vertical jump and 9-8. Hunt caught the ball incredibly well and impressed a lot of people.

Defensive tackle Lucas Vincent impressed a lot of people today. The 2-year starter easily moved around the field and looked terrific in drills.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Thursday, March 19, 12:45 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

Big day on the schedule at Missouri, as Shane Ray works out for scouts. Penn State and Stanford are also on the schedule today.

Western Kentucky
A few notes from yesterday’s WKU workout:

Cornerback Cam Thomas completed 17 reps on the bench, touched 36.5 inches in the vertical jump and timed 4.54 in the 40. He also looked good in position drills.

Tight end Mitchell Henry measured 6-3, 5/8, 252 pounds, timed 4.63 in the 40, posted a vertical jump of 37 inches and 15 reps on the bench. He caught the ball well in position drills.

Missouri
Unofficial 40 times I’m receiving from the Tigers’ pro day:

Markus Golden/DE-OLB: 4.65s
Jimmie Hunt/WR: 4.50s
Marcus Murphy/RB-RS: 4.49s
Shane Ray/DE-OLB: 4.58s
Larry Sasser/WR: 4.52

Considering the way they “calculate” official times for pro day, those numbers may be a bit slower, but remember, teams usually go by what their scouts/coaches have recorded versus any official numbers being thrown around.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Wednesday, March 18, 9:20 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

Boston College
As posted on Twitter, receiver Shakim Phillips, the UConn transfer who entered the season considered as a draftable prospect by scouts but struggled with injury all last year, timed in the 4.3s today. He finished the season with just 13 receptions, and while today’s workout doesn’t push him into the late rounds, it will make Phillips a commodity as an undrafted free agent.

By all accounts, center Andrew Gallik looked terrific in position drills. The senior sat on his Combine numbers but looked smart and smooth with his footwork and body control. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who sent their assistant offensive line coach to Chesnut Hill for the workout, met with Gallik for several hours last night.

Michigan State
Unheralded Marcus Rush turned in an eye-popping workout today.

Tipping the scales at 249 pounds, Rush completed 24 reps on the bench, touched 34 inches in the vertical jump and 9-9 in the broad, then timed 4.68 in the 40, which included a quick 1.59 10-yard split. His 3-cone time was 6.73. Rush, who lined up at defensive end for Michigan State, looked good in linebackers drills afterward. Rarely mentioned with all the star talent around him, Rush is a potential late-round pick and projects asa designated pass-rusher/special teams player at the next level.

Punter Mike Sadler also had a solid workout. After struggling with injury last year, Sadler was finally fit and consistently punted the ball farther than 50 yards today, outside in a 15-mph wind, and was getting hang times in the 4.5s.

San Jose State
Defensive lineman Travis Raciti turned in a solid workout today. The senior measured 6-3, 7/8, 288 pounds, completed 27 reps on the bench, touched 31.5 inches in the vertical jump, then timed as fast as 5.05 on watches with a 10-yard split of 1.76. His 3-cone was a respectable 7.38.

Liberty
Safety Jacob Hagen, who’s well thought of by scouts, turned in some impressive testing numbers. Measuring just under 6-3, Hagen posted a 36.5-inch vertical jump, touched 10-4 in the broad, completed 22 reps on the bench, then timed 4.53 in the 40.

Missouri
As posted earlier, Shane Ray, who’ll workout tomorrow at Missouri pro day, was scheduled for dinner with the Pittsburgh Steelers this evening. He is also scheduled to have a sit down with the New York Jets tomorrow.

Ray’s schedule is loaded, and besides the visits already reported in the media, I can tell you Ray is scheduled to meet with the Kansas City Chiefs, work out for the Arizona Cardinals and the Atlanta Falcons, as well as visit with the franchise, which has been previously reported.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Wednesday, March 18, 4:30 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

Memphis
Joey Clinkscales of the Oakland Raiders, Philadelphia Eagles assistant offensive line coach Greg Austin and reportedly Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier were on hand for the Memphis pro day.

The Eagles worked out Al Bond, a college tackle who projects to guard. The big lineman ran 5.33- and 5.40-second 40s that were faster than his combine time. Bond is a terrific blocker who does not test well.

Defensive end Martin Ifedi completed 18 reps on the bench press, two more than his combine mark, then looked good in position drills.

I’m waiting on results for Fritz Etienne, whom I’m told looked good in position drills.

Boise State
The 40 time for receiver Matt Miller was slower than I initially reported on twitter as I’m hearing a few 4.7-second numbers on stopwatches.

I’m told Jay Ajayi looked good in running back drills, especially catching the ball. He ranks anywhere from a high of No. 2 on running back boards around the league to a low of No. 6. As posted on twitter, Ajayi had dinner with the San Diego Chargers last night.

Quarterback Grant Hedrick looked sharp throwing the ball and though he lacks NFL size, was very accurate with all his throws.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Wednesday, March 18, 2:35 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

Michigan State
The Spartans are in the midst of their pro day, but here’s what I’ve got so far:

Linebacker Taiwan Jones ran much faster today compared to his combine time, clocking in the mid to low 4.7s. His vertical jump of 33.5 inches was an improvement of 1.5 inches.

Baylor
There were several top performances at Baylor pro day.

Receiver Levi Norwood, who struggled through an injury-plagued 2014 campaign, ran 4.53 in the 40, 4.18 in the short shuttle and a solid 6.87 in the 3-cone.

Antwan Goodley, who ran well at the combine (4.44) but could not complete the rest of the workout due to a cramped hamstring, timed 4.41 in the short shuttle and 7.15 in the 3-cone.

Quarterback Bryce Petty looked really solid today and was on the mark with most of his throws. And while that’s usually the case with pro-day workouts, the creativity of quarterback coach George Whitfield leant to the cause.

Petty took snaps from underneath center, was forced to throw over and around about a handful of long (6-foot, plus) tackling dummies placed in front of him and had to watch out as Whitfield chased him with a broom.

Histrionics aside, Petty was very accurate with most of his throws, and except for a few deeper routes, did not have receivers waiting on the pass or twisting to grab errant throws.

Temple
A handful of teams were on hand for the Temple pro day.

Receiver/return specialist Jalen Fitzpatrick measured 5-8, 7/8, 195 pounds, and timed 4.56 in the 40, 4.42 in the short shuttle and 7.13 in the 3-cone, while touching 32 inches in the vertical jump.

Defensive back Anthony Robey measured 5-9, 1/8, 192 pounds, and timed 4.59 in the 40, with 36.5 inches in the vertical, 9-10 in the broad and 17 reps on the bench.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Wednesday, March 18, 12:05 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

The pro-day schedule picks up intensity today as scouts will be watching workouts at Boise State, Michigan State, Boston College and Baylor.

Boise State has a late starting workout. Running back Jay Ajayi is not running the 40, but will participate in position drills. I’ll have more on Ajayi later.

Linebacker Taiwan Jones will be running at Michigan State’s pro day and hopes to improve on his Combine mark.

One under-the-radar workout takes place in Memphis. Besides the team’s three Combine invitees, we’ll be watching underrated safety Fritz Etienne, who capped off a solid college season with a terrific performance at the Shrine Game.

Some housekeeping notes from yesterday:

During the write-up of the workout at Texas A&M Commerce, I failed to mention receiver Ricky Collins, who ended up at Commerce via JUCO and Midwestern State. Collins, who finished with just under 1,200 yards receiving last season, measured 6-1, 198 pounds, timed between 4.48 to 4.52, posted a 36-inch vertical jump and 9-10 broad jump. He later caught the ball very well in drills. There are some teams who prefer Collins over Vernon Johnson. At the very least, both will be signed after the draft.

I should also add most of the 40 times I’m getting from yesterday for Joe Bergeron, the former UT running back, have been in the 4.7s.

Looking for a sleeper three-technique tackle? Remember the name of Quayshawne Buckley of Idaho. During his pro day last week, Buckley measured 6-2, 296, ran the 40 in the low 4.9s, touched 35.5 inches in the vertical jump and 9-2 in the broad. He looked terrific moving laterally, and on film, has natural quickness, leverage and change of direction to play the three-tech.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Tuesday, March 17, 6:25 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

Southern Illinois
The New York Jets, St. Louis Rams, Cincinnati Bengals, Houston Texans and Chicago Bears were on hand for Southern Illinois pro day, where running back Malcolm Agnew was the big winner.

He measured 5-9 1/8, 203 pounds, ran 40 times in the low 4.5-second range (4.51) then turned in a scorching shuttle of 3.89 seconds and an equally impressive 3-cone drill of 6.62 seconds. Agnew’s jump marks of 36 1/2 inches (vertical) and 10-10 (broad) were turned in during the Northwestern pro day.

In drills, Agnew looked solid, especially catching passes, where he made several finger-tip receptions. The Houston Texans and Cincinnati Bengals have shown a lot of interest in Agnew.

Tight end/H-back Mycole Pruitt, who turned in an outstanding combine workout, caught the ball today and did reasonably well. I’m told while his pass-catching skills stood out, he shows a bit of tightness in his hips; not a good sign for a smaller player at his position.

Brown
Of note during Brown’s pro day was the work out of long snapper Courtland Clavette, who measured 6-3, 241 pounds and then ran a best 40 time of 4.71 seconds. He also completed 22 reps on the bench and looked good snapping the ball.

Six teams (Patriots, Dolphins, Redskins, Chiefs, Packers) were on hand, including the Minnesota Vikings, who sent special teams coach Mike Prefier. Many feel Clavette now ranks as one of the top two long snappers available in the 2015 NFL Draft.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Tuesday, March 17, 5:00 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

Texas A&M-Commerce
Nearly two dozen teams traveled to Texas A&M-Commerce to watch a trio of legitimate NFL prospects work out.

Receiver Vernon Johnson, who many feel should have received a combine invitation, ran 40 times between 4.45 and 4.51 seconds after measuring 6-0 3/8, 196 pounds, touching 37 inches in the vertical jump and 10-7 in the broad. He caught the ball extremely well in drills and has met with the Philadelphia Eagles and Houston Texans.

Defensive tackle Charles Tuaau completed 27 reps on the bench then ran a 5.27-second 40 with a reasonable 1.74-second 10-yard split.

I’m still waiting on numbers for former Longhorn running back Joe Bergeron, who played for Texas A&M-Commerce this season. Scouts on hand described Bergeron as a “beast,” stating he looked good in drills and caught the ball very well. The feeling is Bergeron will get a legitimate shot in camp this summer.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Tuesday, March 17, 2:55 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

A rather slow pro day as just one player from the schools on today’s schedule participated in the Combine. There was one workout that caught the attention of teams.

Northwestern
Fifteen teams were on hand for the workout of safety Ibraheim Campbell, who missed the Combine and Northwestern’s initial pro day with a hamstring injury. Despite being on the list of expected attendees, the Washington Redskins did not show up to the workout.

Campbell, who measured 5-11 1/2, 208 pounds at the Combine, timedas fast as 4.47 in the 40, 6.81 in the 3-cone and 4.03 in the short shuttle. His vertical jump touched 33 inches with 9-10 in the broad. Campbell sat on his bench press mark from the Combine of 23 reps.

I’m told overall, Campbell looked very good in drills, and he presently has four official visits set up, with more are expected.

Receiver Tony Jones, who severely sprained his ankle just days before Northwestern’s initial pro day, was unable to workout today. I’ve been informed he will take the field for scouts on April 9 along with quarterback Trevor Siemian and former Wildcat Venric Mark, who played for West Texas A&M last season.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Monday, March 16, 12:40 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

The first two days of the week are light on the pro-day schedule, but the intensity picks up Wednesday (check out the 2015 Pro Day schedule here). For those interested in the safety position, Ibraheim Campbell of Northwestern will be working out tomorrow. Campbell missed the Combine and Northwestern’s pro day earlier this month with a hamstring issue.

Toledo
Results have been coming in from Toledo.

Offensive lineman Gregory Mancz, whom I reported tore his labrum during the second day of Shrine practice then underwent surgery to repair the injury, was on hand to meet with teams. Mancz will be limited during OTAs, but is expected back to full health by the time camp opens up.

Linebacker Junior Sylvestre, who will be in a camp this summer, completed 26 reps on the bench and ran the 40 in a time around 4.5 flat, with some stopwatches reading under 4.50. Sylvestre met with the Philadelphia Eagles, who sent their linebacker coach to the workout, and also had sit-downs with the Indianapolis Colts, Kansas City Chiefs, San Francisco 49ers, Chicago Bears and San Diego Chargers.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Friday, March 13, 10:25 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

Georgia Tech
Linebacker Quayshawn Nealy, who stood out at the Shrine Game, was impressive during pro day. Few numbers I have include 36 inches in the vertical jump and a 40 time of 4.62. Afterward, Nealy transferred that speed into position drills and showed great range and explosion. I’m told the Cincinnati Bengals and Carolina Panthers have shown a lot of interest. I’m told the number for safety Isaiah Johnson include a 40 time in the mid to low 4.5s, a vertical jump of 34 inches and a broad of 10-4.

Hobart
The accolades continue for Ali Marpet. Nine teams made their way to upstate New York to watch the offensive lineman, who continues to impress future NFL employers. As he did during the Combine, Marpet looked terrific in position drills. He moved very well and displayed violent hand punch. Many now feel confident they will be able to use him in a power-running offense, something I thought possible when he handled Danny Shelton during Senior Bowl practice.

I’m told Marpet will work out again for a collective group of scouts on April 7, the same date Syracuse holds its pro day.

Utah
No workout for the Utes, but a bit of news, as receiver Dres Anderson will hold a private pro day on April 14 at the University of Utah. Anderson, who is coming off MCL surgery, did not participate at the Combine or Senior Bowl because of the injury.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Friday, March 13, 2:35 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

First things first, I incorrectly stated Hobart offensive lineman Ali Marpet had dinner with the Cleveland Browns. Actually, Marpet had dinner with the Philadelphia Eagles and breakfast with the Cleveland Browns this morning. Whatever it is, it sounds like a lot of going out to eat!

Ohio State
Marvin Lewis, Mike Tomlin and Rick Spielman were all on hand at the Ohio State pro day.

Receiver Devin Smith did not run the 40, but did position drills, announcing he chose to concentrate on route running and running underneath patterns to prove he’s more than just a vertical receiver. I’m told there was just one drop from Smith, but overall, he looked good. After the workout, the Cleveland Browns spent a lot of time with Smith.

The Buckeyes’ other receiver, Evan Spencer, looked terrific. The big-bodied wide out ran 40 times that ranged from 4.40 to 4.45 and caught the ball extremely well, extending his hands to grab the pass away from his frame. The feeling is this workout will push Spencer into the late part of the draft, as comparisons are being made to James Wright, the seventh-round pick of the Cincinnati Bengals last year who was marginally productive in college but came with a great deal of physical talent and looked good during his pro-day workout.

After pulling up with a bad hamstring after his second attempt in the 40, defensive tackle Michael Bennett was unable to participate in position drills.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Friday, March 13, 11:40 a.m. (update)
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

Hobart
There is a nice crowd on hand to see the ever-rising Ali Marpet. Drills are just finishing up, but I can report the Philadelphia Eagles ran the workout and the Cleveland Browns, who had their offensive line coach on hand, took him to dinner last night.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Friday, March 13, 10:50 a.m. (update)
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

Ohio State
Michael Bennett tipped the scale at 297 pounds, up four from the combine. He ran two 40s, both in the 4.8-second range, but I’m told he pulled up after finishing the second 40.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Friday, March 13, 9:35 a.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

Ohio State caps a busy week of pro days along with Hobart and Georgia Tech.

In Columbus, defensive tackle Michael Bennett, who was unable to work out at the combine due to an injured groin suffered in the semi-final game against Alabama, takes to the field. Early reports have Bennett touching 33 1/2 inches in the vertical jump.

I’ve been informed Buckeyes receiver Devin Smith is 50/50 on whether or not he’ll run the 40 today.

At Georgia Tech, we’ll watch to see if receiver Darren Waller is put through any tight end drills. As reported during the combine, he’s trained for the position and is ready if asked.

Kentucky
I’m told Alvin Dupree looked tremendous in position drills yesterday, which should come as no surprise to anyone. Coupled with his incredible testing at the combine, as well as the pass-rush skills he displayed the past two seasons, I struggle to see how he gets out of the top 15.

Dupree had dinner with the Pittsburgh Steelers the night before the pro day (general manager and head coach amongst those in attendance) and also met with the Indianapolis Colts.

Yesterday, Dupree met with the Philadelphia Eagles, San Francisco 49ers, lunched with the New Orleans Saints and then met with the New York Jets.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Thursday, March 12, 9:40 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

Oregon
What’s to say about the workout of Marcus Mariota other than it was poor. I thought he looked mechanical, stiff and that his pass placement was not good. Mariota threw behind receivers or had them waiting for passes as they left breaks, and his timing looked way off as he simulated dropping back into the pocket from under center. That said, in my opinion he’s still very much a top-10 pick.

On the other hand, Jake Fisher looked terrific in positiondrills. He was explosive, strong and very athletic. He displayed outstanding hand punch and looked very athletic moving around the field.

Underrated cornerback Troy Hill ran a disappointing 4.54-second 40 today, but looked quick and fluid in drills. He’s very much the forgotten man from the Duck secondary.

Kentucky
The big winner at Kentucky’s pro day was Za’Darius Smith. Smith was timed as fast as 4.69 seconds in the 40 with his second run coming in at 4.71 seconds, much better than his combine time. He was super impressive in both linebacker and defensive line drills, looking smooth and athletic. At 274 pounds, Smith is still measuring just 11 percent body fat, the same number posted at the combine. The San Diego Chargers are working him out tomorrow, and Smith has a workout scheduled with the Carolina Panthers.

UNLV
Receiver Devante Davis, who has been struggling with a hamstring issue since the Senior Bowl, ran the 40 once today, timing 4.53 seconds, slightly faster than his combine time. The time was actually 4.48 seconds, but scouts added .05 seconds to adjust for a fierce tailwind. Davis felt the hamstring tighten up during the first attempt and chose not to run again. His broad jump of 10-1 was 6 inches better than his combine effort. Despite the tightening hamstring, he looked good in pass-catching drills.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Thursday, March 12, 3:40 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

Miami of Ohio
Not a lot of excitement at Miami of Ohio’s pro day. Cornerback Quinten Rollins sat on his combine numbers and only did position drills.

Findlay safety Harold Jone-Quartey, rated as free agent worthy by NFL scouts, measured 5-10 5/8, 213 pounds, completed 19 reps on the bench and had jumps of 40 inches in the vertical and 11-1 in the broad. His times included 4.59 seconds in the 40 and 6.78 seconds in the 3-cone drill.

Washington State
Defensive tackle Xavier Cooper is sitting on his combine numbers but doing position drills. I’m told he looks outstanding, with one source describing him as a “beast.” Cooper had a hand-timed best of 4.82 seconds in the 40 at the combine after weighing in at 293 pounds.

Vince Mayle, who broke his thumb during the Senior Bowl but still participated in everything but the bench press at the combine, is in a cast that comes off on March 20th. He will run the 40 for scouts on April 1st. Mayle ran at the combine, but the inability to put pressure on his right thumb hampered his start and he timed poorly.

Underrated defensive tackle Kalafitoni Pole, a lineman who stands out on film, measured 6-1 5/8, 311 pounds, posted a vertical jump of 29 inches and completed 35 reps on the bench press.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Thursday, March 12, 1:55 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

A bit more on the workout of Chris Bonner at Colorado pro day yesterday: He measured 6-6 7/8, 231 pounds and threw 60 passes with four hitting the ground, though I’m told three were outright drops by running backs.

I’m not really big into completion percentage on a pro day, but it must be pointed out Bonner was throwing to just one of his CSU-Pueblo teammates, as the rest of the pass-catchers were basically foreign to him. I’m told he did throw a pair of 60-yard strikes downfield, and all in attendance gave him positive reviews. As of now, the Denver Broncos are displaying the greatest interest in Bonner.

Michigan
Here are the testing numbers I received on Devin Gardner: 6-3 1/2, 217 pounds, 35.5-inch vertical jump, 4.62 40, 4.38 short shuttle and a 3-cone of 6.96s.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Thursday, March 12, 1:10 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

Michigan
I’m told Devin Funchess looked good catching the ball, which is no surprise. His route running was improved, but still needs a bit of work. On the other hand, Devin Gardner had a number of drops and will probably fall out of the seven rounds.

Linebacker Jake Ryan looked solid in all his position drills. His hip turn needs a bit of work, but overall, he received positive reviews. The Philadelphia Eagles and Minnesota Vikings both sent linebacker coaches.

As tweeted earlier, Vikings’ general manager Rick Spielman was in attendance. Viking fans will want to consider both Funchess and Ryan at some point in their team’s mock.

Numbers I’m receiving for Ramon Taylor include 40 times which clocked as fast as 4.38, 15 reps on the bench, a vertical jump of 33.5 inches, 4.11s in the short shuttle and 6.75 in the 3-cone.

Former NFL punter Zoltan Mesko was on hand and worked out, hoping to catch on with another team.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Thursday, March 12, 12:40 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

Michigan
Results are starting to trickle in from Michigan, and the big news is Devin Funchess, the No. 1 tight end on my board, unofficially timed in the 4.5s (4.53/4.52). His fastest official 40 time at the Combine clocked 4.61.

Funchess is now catching passes from Tyler Wilson, theformer Arkansas quarterback selected in the fourth round of the 2013 draft by the Oakland Raiders.

Cornerback Raymon Taylor, who struggled with a leg injury all last season, timed 4.42 in the 40.

Linebacker Jake Ryan is standing on his Combine numbers and just doing position drills.

Delaware
Position drills are still going on, but thus far, word is tight end Nick Boyle ran 4.86 in the 40, almost two-tenths better than his Combine time. Almost two-dozen teams are on hand including tight end coaches for the New York Jets, Detroit Lions and Indianapolis Colts.

Receiver Michael Johnson ran disappointingly slow, timing in the mid 4.6s.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Thursday, March 12, 12:00 a.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

Another big day on the pro-day schedule as Oregon takes the field for scouts and Marcus Mariota works out for scouts.

Two scheduling changes. South Florida was originally set to workout yesterday, but they will be working out on March 26th. The schedule shows Fresno State working out today, but the school pushed the date back to March 25th. Safety Deron Smith, who missed the Senior Bowl and combine recovering from hernia surgery, is preparing to workout that day.

Colorado
Receiver Tyler McCulloch performed well at Colorado’s pro day and really helped himself. The big receiver measured 6050/218lbs, posted a vertical jump of 37 inches, broad jump of 10-10 then timed 4.50 seconds in the 40. His other marks included 4.23 seconds in the short shuttle and 7.13 seconds in the 3-cone drill. McCulloch caught the ball very well. Back in 2012 McCulloch, then a sophomore, looked terrific on film as he was the Buffs primary receiver as Paul Richardson was on the sidelines with a knee injury. McCulloch then was injured himself in 2013 but returned to play well this year. Part of the issue for McCulloch was terrible quarterback play at Colorado, but rest assured, he’s someone who could surprise in camp this summer.

Also working out yesterday was Colorado-Pueblo signal-caller Chris Bonner, a favorite of mine. By all accounts, Bonner was terrific as only four balls hit the ground. Everyone I spoke with mentioned his rifle arm and his accuracy. Bonner will be working out again during the San Diego State pro day.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Wednesday, March 11, 5:00 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

Alabama
Every team was represented at Alabama pro day and several unheralded prospects stood out, possibly none more so than Xzavier Dickson.

The linebacker timed right around 4.7 seconds in the 40, with some having him as low as 4.68 seconds. This is a marked improvement from the combine (4.73 seconds), and afterward, Dickson looked terrific in linebacker drills. He was fluid moving in every direction and very quick. One linebacker coach told me he was impressed with the way Dickson takes direction.

Blake Sims helped himself today. Not so much at quarterback as Sims lined up at running back and in the slot, catching passes. He also fielded punts with the Arizona Cardinals afterward and is meeting one-on-one with the New Orleans Saints. The overall feedback was positive.

Unheralded receiver Deandrew White, whom I grade as a priority free agent, timed 4.40 seconds in the 40 and caught the ball very well. That time is surprising as scouts had him as a 4.5-second receiver and he really does not play to that speed.

Amari Cooper sat on his 40 time but posted a 34-inch vertical jump, 1 inch better than the combine, and looked exceptional catching the ball. His quickness and smoothness stood out. He looked off on a few routes, floating on exit, but overall it was impressive work for Cooper.

The times for T.J. Yeldon have been all over the place. I’m sure they will settle somewhere in the low 4.5-second range, which is a marked improvement from the combine.

Landon Collins stood on most of his combine marks but participated in position drills. He was solid but not outstanding and definitely did not look like the top-12 pick some have tabbed him as.

Offensive lineman Leon Brown timed 5.97 seconds in the 40 after tipping the scales at 333 pounds. A sprained AC joint kept him from participating in the bench press.

Safety Nick Perry ran poorly (4.62 seconds) but looked solid in position drills.

Mile College cornerback Travis Lee, who met with the Pittsburgh Steelers yesterday, is at Alabama’s pro day and will be meeting with a contingent from the New Orleans Saints.

USC
Leonard Williams was dominant in drills today. He was explosive, powerful and looked very athletic. His balance and body control are exceptional. The Tennessee Titans spent a lot of time with Williams.

Offensive lineman Aundrey Walker timed 5.15 seconds in the 40 which is not a surprise. As a sophomore, Walker looked terrific at left tackle before struggling in 2013 after moving to guard. Last year, he barely saw the field but possesses the underlying ability to play at the next level if he puts his mind to it.

Linebacker Hayes Pullard was slightly better in the 40, timing 4.71 seconds (4.73 seconds at combine).

2015 Pro Day Notes: Wednesday, March 11, 2:50 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

Wisconsin
There was not much excitement at the Wisconsin pro-day except for one small-school receiver.

Offensive lineman Rob Havenstein completed 20 reps on the bench, four more then his combine number.

As reported earlier, the New York Jets worked out running back Melvin Gordon as did the Indianapolis Colts.

As tweeted earlier offensive lineman Kyle Costigan was a no-show at the pro day, and word is he’s retiring from football due to multiple injuries. I’ve known for a while that Costigan, who grades as a late-round pick on film, had medical issues that would’ve raised red flags. Scouts in attendance all agreed that Costigan and tight end Samuel Arneson, who I reported before the Badgers pro day was retiring from football, were both legitimate prospects.

Receiver Jake Kumerow of Wisconsin-Whitewater, and the son of former Miami Dolphins first-round pick Eric Kumerow, performed well in front of scouts. Kumerow measured 6044/209lbs, timed 4.50 seconds in the 40, 6.83 seconds in the 3-cone drill and 4.19 seconds in the short shuttle. His vertical jump measured 31 inches and he completed 15 reps on the bench. Kumerow caught the ball incredibly well and is expected to work out for the Cincinnati Bengals.

Colorado State
Nineteen teams were on hand primarily to watch offensive tackle Tyler Sambrailo, who ran the 3-cone drill in a time of 7.26 seconds (compared to 7.54 seconds at the combine).

The offensive lineman met with the Tampa Bay Bucs, Indianapolis Colts, Atlanta Falcons, Denver Broncos and San Diego Chargers over the course of two days.

Harvard
Yesterday, I mentioned red flags popping on Zach Hodges of Harvard. Today, I received the official numbers. Hodges did not bench press or run the 40, but posted a vertical jump of 30.5 inches and a broad jump of 10-feet even. His short shuttle timed 4.54 and 3-cone was 7.3.

The short shuttle represents an improvement of .1 seconds from the Combine, but the rest of the marks fell short. Hodges did not bench at the Combine.

Underrated defensive back Norman Hayes measured 5-9 7/8, 199 pounds, timed 4.56 in the 40 and touched 34 inches in the vertical. He also completed 24 reps on the bench.

Many scouts came away impressed with center Nick Easton. He measured 6-2 3/4, 303 pounds, completed 29 reps on the bench, posted a 30.5-inch vertical jump and timed 5.11 in the 40.

Rutgers
It was a good day for Tyler Kroft, considering he’s not fully healthy. He was timed at 4.67 on a number of watches in the 40, while his 3-cone was 7.12 and short shuttle timed 4.2. Both of those times would’ve been top two at the Combine. Kroft has met with the Cleveland Browns, New York Giants and Cincinnati Bengals thus far.

Oklahoma
Quarterback turned tight end Blake Bell improved his bench press from the Combine, completing 18 reps (14 Combine), but sat on the rest of his numbers. The past two days, he’s had dinner with the Miami Dolphins and Philadelphia Eagles. Thus far, he has workouts scheduled with the Arizona Cardinals and Atlanta Falcons.

By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

Oklahoma
Receiver Dorial Green-Beckham sat on his 40 time from the Combine after weighing in at 236 pounds, one less than the Combine. He did post a 10-foot broad jump (9-11 Combine) and 33-inch vertical (33.5 Combine).

Defensive back Julian Wilson improved his 40 time from Indianapolis, timing 4.50 (4.53 Combine), after measuring 6-2 and 201 pounds.

Offensive tackle Tyrus Thompson, who did not run at the Combine due to a foot injury, timed 5.40.

As reported earlier, Thompson and teammate Daryl Williams met with the Minnesota Vikings yesterday. I’ve also been informed both players met with the Tennessee Titans and St Louis Rams.

Rutgers
As of posting, position drills have just started, but there were some solid testing marks.

Fullback Michael Burton completed 30 reps on the bench, an improvement of five from the 25 he did at the Combine.

Offensive lineman Kaleb Johnson completed 34 reps on the bench, timed as fast as 5.07 in the 40 and posted a broad jump of 8-10.

Despite not being 100 percent, tight end Tyler Kroft posted avertical jump of 34 inches, and a broad jump of 10-feet even.

Louisville
Early results from the Louisville pro day have not been kind to safety Gerod Holliman. Though not official, I’m told his 40s have both been over 4.6 seconds, and several teams timed him at 4.65 on his second attempt. I’m told his vertical jump was not very good either.

Teammate Johnny Sample, who ran a hand timed 4.48 at the Combine, completed 17 reps on the bench. Sample did not lift in Indianapolis.

Oklahoma
Results are slowly coming in for the Sooners, but I can pass on that the Minnesota Vikings met with both Tyrus Thompson and Daryl Williams yesterday.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Tuesday, March 10, 10:45 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

A very busy pro day on the schedule for Wednesday, highlighted by Alabama, Louisville and Oklahoma.

Louisville
One player who won’t be participating in the Louisville pro day is running back Michael Dyer.

Coach Bobby Petrino is forbidding the team’s second-leading rusher from participating in the workout after Dyer was ruled academically ineligible for the Belk Bowl against Georgia. This has left a bad taste with a lot of people, who feel Petrino is turning his back on the ball-carrier. Instead of participating at Louisville’s pro day, Dyer will hold his own workout afterward at duPont Manual High School, a mile from the Cardinals’ Stadium.

Receiver DeVante Parker will be in attendance to participate in position drills and root on his teammates. Parker, who’s been a very busy man, will stand on his combine numbers. The big receiver has already worked out for the Pittsburgh Steelers and has official visits scheduled with the Miami Dolphins, Tennessee Titans and Baltimore Ravens.

The Cleveland Browns, who hold the 12th pick of Round 1 (as well as the 19th), have already worked out Parker and are also bringing him to for an official visit.

Rutgers
Rutgers tight end Tyler Kroft finally gets to show off his athletic prowess for teams. At the Combine, I reported medical exams aggravated the ankle injury Kroft suffered during the season, knocking him out of workouts. Best guess is Kroft is about 85-90 percent to full health.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Tuesday, March 10, 7:50 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

UCLA
Quarterback Brett Hundley was the primary focus of today’s workout, and by all accounts, the signal-caller threw much better than he did at the combine. He completed 57-of-60 passes, throwing the ball to receivers which included Greg Salas (New York Jets) and Jeremy Horne (Calgary Stampeders). The ball flew off Hundley’s hand, and he threw with great accuracy all day.

Running back Jordon James also looked good. His vertical jump, which is being incorrectly reported as 34 1/2-inches, was actually 44 1/2-inches, (only makes sense as his broad jump came in at 10-11). James’ 40 times clocked in the low 4.4-second range, though the Cincinnati Bengals had him with a time of 4.37 seconds.

Weeks ago, I posted on tackle Malcolm Bunche and how he looked much better than other highly rated Pac-12 offensive lineman during pre-draft training. Today, Bunche measured 6-foot-6, 320 pounds and put up 32 reps on the bench press and timed 5.15 seconds in the 40. Various sources told me he looked terrific in position drills, with one attendee comparing Bunch to 10-year NFL veteran Tony Pashos. Afterward, Bunche spent 90 minutes with the Jacksonville Jaguars and is scheduled to workout with the Cincinnati Bengals in the coming weeks. Keep him in mind for the later rounds of the 2015 NFL Draft.

One prospect who has likely fallen out of the late rounds, and the 2015 NFL Draft altogether, is Ellis McCarthy. The junior defensive lineman chose to sit on his combine numbers and did only position drills. Offensive line position drills is as I’m told scouts did not want to work him out on the defensive line. Despite solid numbers at the combine, I’m told McCarthy did not look athletic, and one source at the pro-day used the word “brutal” to sum up his day.

Monmouth
Receiver Neal Sterling, who is projected to tight end by a number of teams, ran in the 4.6-second range and posted a vertical jump of 35 inches before going on to look good in position drills. More on Sterling when once it comes in.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Tuesday, March 10, 7:45 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

Arizona
Austin Hill measured 6021, 214 pounds and timed his 40s in 4.54 and 4.59 seconds. Other numbers included a short shuttle of 4.17 seconds, the 3-cone drill in 6.72 seconds and a 60-yard shuttle in 11.51 seconds. All the reviews of Hill’s pass-catching workout were positive as teams were impressed with his quickness and body positioning exiting breaks.

Why was Hill left out of the combine? I’m told he was graded poorly after the initial four games of the 2014 campaign, and though he played better later in the year, was never able to rebound enough to get an invitation. Regardless, at full health, Hill is a next-level prospect.

Mickey Baucus put on a clinic in position drills. He looked athletic and easily moved around the field. He’ll likely slip into the late rounds of the 2015 NFL Draft.

Tennessee State
There was a huge crowd on hand, primarily to see Robert Myers, who sat on his combine numbers but looked good in position drills. I’m told Myers met with the Cleveland Browns yesterday and the team told him he’s unlikely to get out of the fourth round. Tomorrow, he’ll be meeting with the Baltimore Ravens.

Cornerback Ronnie Vinson, the LSU transfer, was slow and struggled to break 4.8 seconds.

TSU’s other cornerback, De’Ante Saunders, a legitimate NFL prospect, was not allowed to take part in the workout due to a situation with his grades, which drew the ire of a number of people. Saunders hopes to workout during one of the pro days (Florida State, Central Floida or Bethune) in the state of Florida.

Samford
Back to Samford where Miles College cornerback Travis Lee ran the 40 in 4.50 seconds, touched 36 inches in the vertical jump and 10-4 in the broad jump. The small-school corner met with the St. Louis Rams last night, is having dinner with the New Orleans Saints tonight and has workouts scheduled with the New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Tuesday, March 10, 4:40 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

UAB
Since UAB no longer has a football program, the draft-eligible prospects worked out in front of nearly 18 teams as part of Samford’s pro-day.

Jamarcus Nelson, who scorched the track at the combine, sat on his 40 time from Indianapolis but looked very good catching the football.

The star of the day was little-known tight end Kennard Backman, whom I presently grade as a free agent. Backman came into the workout measuring 6035/238lbs and ran 40 times as fast as 4.57 seconds on watches (some had him in the mid-4.6-second area). His other marks included 35 1/2-inches in the vertical and 9-9 in the broad.

Backman looked incredibly athletic during the workout (he was also recruited as a basketball player) which was run by New England Patriots director of personnel Nick Cesario. Later, Backman worked out with the Philadelphia Eagles, and his schedule includes workouts with the Minnesota Vikings and Indianapolis Colts.

Samford safety Jaquiski Tartt did not participate today, rather he will hold his own workout on March 30th.

Harvard
Still waiting on numbers from the Harvard workout, but the word I’m hearing on Zach Hodges is not good.

I’m told Hodges did not bench press today (still to be confirmed), participated in some of the workout and complained about his knee through much of the morning. When he did participate, he did not look all that good. Hodges did not lift at the combine because of a shoulder issue.

All through the pre-draft process I’ve heard red-flags have been raised on Hodges. I’m told his interviews, dating back to the Senior Bowl, have not gone well and rubbed people the wrong way. A number of teams have removed Hodges from their board.

Arizona
Receiver Austin Hill, who somehow did not receive a combine invitation, completed 17 reps on the bench, posted a 36 1/2-inch vertical jump and touched 10-4 in the broad jump. I’m still awaiting 40 times.

Tackle Mickey Baucus, another Arizona senior not invited to Indianapolis, totaled 31 inches in the vertical jump, completed 25 reps on the bench and timed 5.27 seconds in the 40.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Tuesday, March 10, 11:15 a.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

Kent State
The Kent State workout is over, and tight end Casey Pierce, a Combine snub, performed exceedingly well.

Pierce, who measured 6-3 1/2, 244 pounds at the Senior Bowl, ran 40 times between 4.69 to 4.74 on a fast turf. His other marks included 36.5 inches in the vertical jump, 9-10 in the broad jump, 19 reps on the bench and a short shuttle time of 4.22. He zipped through the 3-cone in hand times which ranged between 6.83 to 6.87. Only one tight end at the Combine was comparable: Blake Bell who ran a time of 6.85s.

Pierce looked good catching the ball for the 17 teams on hand, including Baltimore Ravens tight end coach Rich Angulo. The Philadelphia Eagles are scheduled to work out out Pierce in the coming days.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Monday, March 9, 10:25 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

Montana
A number of pro days fill the schedule on Tuesday including UCLA, which will be closely watched. We expect to have news on the Bruins’ pro day and the doings of Brett Hundley sometime during the afternoon.

Finishing up on Montana from Monday, there were several impressive performances.

Teams were impressed by the overall athleticism Zack Wagenmann showed. After improving on several of his marks from the combine, Wagenmann ran both defensive line and linebacker drills, looking good in each. Most leaving the workout felt Wagenmann secured himself as a last-day pick, and he met with both the San Francisco 49ers and San Diego Chargers during the previous two days.

I reported on the workout of Vaetuitonga Takai yesterday, and some feel the big defensive tackle may squeeze into the very late picks of Round 7 and at the very least, assured himself of being signed after the 2015 NFL Draft.

Ditto for running back Travon Van. The diminutive back measured 5-9 7/8, 195 pounds, ran 40 times of 4.55 and 4.48 seconds, posted a short shuttle time of 4.08 seconds and a 3-cone drill of 6.78 seconds. His vertical jump measured 33 inches, and he completed 16 reps on the bench. Van looked good in ball-carrying drills and terrific catching passes. He was lined up in the slot and on the flanks, and ran great routes besides catching everything. Afterward, Van fielded nearly a dozen punts and looked good.

One of the biggest surprises of the day was Australian punter Rhys Felton of Carroll College in Montana.

First, the background. Felton attended Grossmont JC in Arizona and was headed for Iowa State on a scholarship, but visa issues held things up and he finally landed at Carroll. Last season, he averaged 40.7 years on 45 punts, with a long of 70 yards and three times booted the ball longer than 50 yards.

After measuring 6-3, 233 pounds yesterday, Felton put on a punting clinic. I’m told not only did he punt the air out of the ball, but his directional punting was phenomenal. Felton consistently placed the ball inside the 5- and 10-yard line when asked, putting reverse spin on the ball. He’s sure to be signed after the 2015 NFL Draft.

Montana
Approximately a dozen teams are on hand for the Montana pro day.

Zack Wagenmann, the school’s only Combine participant, improved in the bench press with 16 reps (14 at Combine) and the broad jump at 9-10 (9-1 combine). He is participating in position drills.

Underrated defensive tackle Vaetuitonga Takai weighed in at 305, completed 27 reps on the bench and ran in the low 5.0s in the 40. He’s looked strong as an ox thus far, and scouts have been impressed with his explosion and short-area quickness.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Sunday, March 8, 10:40 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

A slow Monday starts off with what’s expected to be an exciting second week of pro-day workouts.

The Ball State pro day, originally scheduled for Monday, has been postponed to April 1 as the team’s primary pro prospect, running back Jahwan Edwards, is struggling with a strained hamstring.

Later today, Montana takes the field for pro scouts. Besides defensive end Zack Wagenmann, who worked out at the Combine last month, we’ll be watching defensive tackle Vaetuitonga Takai, an underrated big man on the inside.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Friday, March 6, 4:50 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

Arizona State
More from Arizona State:

Offensive lineman Jamil Douglas stood on most of his Combine numbers, running just the short shuttle (4.53-4.57) and three cone (7.67). Hal Hunter of the Indianapolis Colts then put Douglas through a guard workout, and the overwhelming comments were very positive.

Safety Damarious Randall did defensive back position drills and fielded punts. He looked very good, and there was a feeling from the workout that Randall will not get out of the second round of the draft. He is meeting with the Cleveland Browns in the coming days.

I’m told for the most part receiver Jaelen Strong looked good, though he did not catch every pass, which raised a few eyebrows.

Southern Miss
Almost 20 teams were on hand for pro day at Southern Miss, and their focus was primarily for one player: junior defensive lineman Rakeem Nunez-Roches. Standing on his Combine numbers, Nunez-Roches did positional drills for almost 40 minutes in a workout run by the Kansas City Chiefs. Scouts on hand were impressed and came away feeling the defensive lineman had definitely helped his draft stock. After the workout, Nunez-Roches spent a large amount of time with the Washington Redskins.

Gardner Webb
The Buffalo Bills, Kansas City Chiefs, Tennessee Titans, Jacksonville Jaguars, New York Giants, Denver Broncos, Seattle Seahawks, Carolina Panthers and Cleveland Browns were on hand for pro day at Gardner Webb, which was run outside in the cold and damp weather.

Despite slippery conditions, receiver Kenny Cook timed 4.54 on his second 40 after slipping during his first attempt. Cook, who caught 64 receptions for 758 yards and five touchdowns last season, measured 6-0 3/8, 208 pounds, had a vertical leap of 32 inches and posted a broad jump of 10 feet. His arm measured 34.5 inches, while his hand was 10 3/8 inches, impressive for a receiver.

Arizona State
Marcus Hardison, who did not participate at the Combine because of an injury, stood out and was a star at Arizona State’s pro day. Hardison measured 6-3 1/4, 305 pounds, then ran his 40s in times of 4.92 and 4.95, though some watches had him in the 4.8s. His 10 split was in the 1.70 range. Hardison’s short shuttle timed at 4.68 with a 7.29 three-cone.

Hardison looked terrific in line drills, which was run by the Minnesota Vikings, as scouts commented on his exceptional quick twitch muscles. Coaches in attendance remarked that had he been able to run at the Combine, Hardison would’ve ranked as one of the top overall performers on the defensive line. Yesterday, Hardison met privately with the Miami Dolphins and San Francisco 49ers.

By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

Nebraska
First the back story.

Randy Gregory’s escapades at Sports Science in Los Angeles have been well documented, but his appearance at the filming almost caused him to miss pro day. I’m told due to adverse weather conditions, Gregory’s flights were routed then re-routed, and he almost spending a full day in the airport before finally arriving back in Nebraska at 1:30 a.m. today.

From the standpoint of position drills, I’m told Gregory looked terrific. He did both linebacker and defensive line drills, and really impressed, though some were surprised the workout was shorter than expected. I hope to have Gregory’s 3-cone and shuttles times later. I can confirm Gregory did meet one-on-one with the San Francisco 49ers.

I’m told Ameer Abdullah looked terrific in drills and was outstanding catching the ball. Sources say he presented himself as a legitimate downfield pass-catching threat.

Illinois
Tight end Matt LaCosse really impressed scouts. After measuring 6-5 7/8 and 258 pounds, he timed 4.66 and 4.67 in the 40. LaCosse completed 30 reps on the bench, posted a vertical jump of 30 inches and a broad of 9-8. Afterward, he caught the ball well.

LaCosse’s numbers have been erroneously reported as those of Jon Davis on the Internet today, but Davis, the team’s other tight end, fared well. Davis measured 6-3, 245 pounds, timed 4.68/4.70 seconds in the 40 and caught the ball well.

Consensus from scouts is they’ll need to go back and watch both players from 2013, as the Fighting Illini’s changed offense dismissed the tight end position last season.

Utah State
Linebacker Zachary Vigil tested very well. He timed 4.63 in the 40, completed 26 reps on the bench and posted a broad jump of 9-6. Vigil came in at 6-2 and 236 pounds.

By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

Nebraska
I’m still waiting on results from Nebraska pro day but this I can tell you: As of yesterday, the San Francisco 49ers were expected to meet with Randy Gregory after today’s workout.

I’m told the times for running back Ameer Abdullah were all over the place, as pro-day times usually are. The first times were in the high 4.5s, with the second clocking showing 4.45 on the watches of a few coaches. The consensus is that the final time will be in right around 4.50. Regardless, it was much better than his Combine performance.

New Mexico
The star of the pro day in New Mexico was not a Lobo; rather, Tyler Slavin, a receiver from New Mexico Highlands, who totaled 106 receptions for 1,234 yards and 15 touchdowns last year.

Slavin measured 6-2, 215 pounds, then ran 4.52/4.54 in the 40, touched 34 inches in the vertical jump and 9-7 in the broad. Slavin also caught the ball very well and if nothing else, secured an invitation to camp this summer.

The St Louis Rams, Arizona Cardinals, San Diego Chargers and Oakland Raiders were on hand.

Clemson
I’m told linebacker Stephone Anthony had a phenomenal day. He only did position drills but teams were impressed with his overall performance, especially his cover skills. Anthony met with the Minnesota Vikings and San Francisco 49ers yesterday before having dinner with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Anthony has been on a straight shot north up draft boards since September. He stood out during the Senior Bowl, then looked terrific at the Combine and capped it off today at pro day. How high will Anthony be selected? The second round seems like a lock but it now looks as though he’ll be chosen in the early to middle part of the frame. That poses a problem for a team like the Green Bay Packers, who’ve shown a lot of interest in the linebacker.

Clemson
Here are even more numbers and notes from the Clemson Pro Day:

Grady Jarrett tipped the scales at 298 pounds (304 pounds at the Combine).

Watson measured 6-4, 298 pounds, posted a vertical jump of 32.5 inches, broad jump of 9-2, and a short shuttle of 4.49 seconds.

Crawford told people on hand the reason he did not participate at the Senior Bowl was due to a high ankle sprain. Crawford’s non-appearance in Mobile rubbed a lot of people the wrong way.

Again, I continue to hear multiple sources gush over how the entire group of defensive linemen performed.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Thursday, March 5, 12:30 p.m. (update)
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

Clemson
Clemson is done with the testing, and the players are now going through drills at present time.

Here’s an interesting note on Vic Beasley, whom I’m told tipped the scales at 246 pounds today. The explosive defender did not meet with any teams last night as two days ago, his uncle passed away. An uncle who evidently was like a second dad to Beasley. Beasley went to the funeral and drove back to school yesterday, arriving on campus at 4 a.m. this morning for the pro-day workout.

A few numbers from today’s Clemson workout:

Defensive tackle Josh Watson 37 reps on the bench, Grady 33 reps on the bench (30 at combine), Corey Crawford just 17 on bench (did not participate at Combine).

Watson ran an impressive 4.95 in the 40. Quandon Christian, who graduated in 2013 and was in camp last summer, posted a 4.75-second 40.

I’m told scouts and coaches came away impressed with the practice drills of all the defensive linemen.

By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

Two top-10 picks are on the pro-day schedule today as teams visit Clemson (Vic Beasley) and Nebraska (Randy Gregory).

Nebraska
The Minnesota Vikings have spent and extensive amount of time with Gregory before the start of today’s workout. We expected there will be a team or two who grabs him afterward. At the time of posting, Gregory is only planning on participating in position drills.

Purdue
I’m told yesterday Purdue’s Ryan Russell met with the Arizona Cardinals and Philadelphia Eagles during the Boilermakers’ pro day. Interesting in that the Eagles will be looking to replace Trent Cole, whom they recently cut.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Wednesday, March 4, 4:35 p.m. (update)
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

Mississippi State
I’m learning more from the Mississippi State pro-day.

Cornerback Jamerson Love was timed at 4.49 seconds in the 40, while receiver Jameon Lewis was in the 4.57-second range.

Teams came away very impressed with the versatility Preston Smith displayed. He was quick and fast off the edge in defensive line drills and also fluid in linebacker drills.

I’m told Benardrick McKinney looked good in pass-rush drills. If he does land in the latter part of Round 1, those leaving the pro-day believe the Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys are teams that could potentially pull the trigger. The surprise team in the mix are the Houston Texans, who are likely to lose Brooks Reed in free agency.

Texas A&M
A little more on cornerback Deshazor Everett. I’m told he looked smooth and very fluid in all the drills besides running faster than many expected. After the workout, Everett met with the Tampa Bay Bucs, Carolina Panthers and Houston Texans.

James Madison
The James Madison pro-day took place yesterday with headliner Dean Marlowe taking part in defensive back drills.

Two prospects of note.

Sage Harold, the team’s defensive end who projects to linebacker and a relative of Virginia’s Eli Harold, timed under 4.7 seconds in the 40 with some watches having him as fast as 4.63 seconds.

Daniel Brown, the team’s leading receiver the past two seasons, timed between 4.52 seconds and 4.58 seconds in the 40 after measuring 6-foor-4.5 and 227 pounds. His othermarks included a 6.88-second time in the three-cone drill and a 4.15-second time in the short shuttle.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Wednesday, March 4, 2:35 p.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

Mississippi State, Texas A&M and Purdue headline today’s pro-days as information is starting to filter in.

Purdue
Ryan Russell, the Boilermakers’ only combine attendee, decided to run the 40 again and timed slightly faster than in Indianapolis. Russell ran 4.70-second time, compared to a hand-held best of 4.71 seconds at the combine. He also ran through both outside linebacker and defensive end drills. Russell, a sleeper of sorts, could end up being selected earlier than people presently project as teams like his size, athleticism and versatility to line-up in different defensive packages.

Skill player Akeem Hunt was very impressive today, timing 4.37 seconds in the 40 and 3.96 seconds in the short shuttle, and posting a vertical jump of 37 1/2 inches and a broad jump of 10-2. During drills, he looked outstanding at catching the ball. Like Corey Grant of Auburn, Hunt is a legitimate triple-threat skill player with the ability to carry the ball around the perimeter, catch the ball out of the backfield, or line up and return kicks or punts. Someone will get a steal in the late rounds or as an undrafted FA with him.

Gabe Holmes, the one-time highly rated tight end who has struggled with injury the past few seasons, timed in the 4.7-second range in the 40, posted a vertical jump of 33 1/2 inches and completed 21 reps on the bench.

Texas A&M
Many were surprised when cornerback Deshazor Everett was not invited to the combine, and he justified that surprise today. His marks included 4.47-second time in the 40, a 6.78-second time in the three-cone drill, a vertical jump of 38 inches and 10-10 in the broad jump. Over the past two days, Everett has met privately with the San Francisco 49ers, Miami Dolphins and Chicago Bears.

Mississippi State
Almost 30 teams were on hand for the Mississippi State pro-day, including New York Jets defensive coordinator Kacy Rodgers and a number of defensive linecoaches.

Defensive lineman Kaleb Eulls, another combine snub who participated in the Senior Bowl, measured 6-foot-2.5, posted a vertical jump of 28 inches, completed 26 reps on the bench and ran the 40 in times of 5.09 and 5.19 seconds.

Preston Smith and Benardrick McKinney worked out at both defensive line and linebacker drills.

I’m told if there was a surprise of the day it was tight end Malcolm Johnson, who drew rave reviews from scouts. The senior, who posted 28 receptions for 380 yards and three scores in 2014, looked terrific catching the ball and had some drawing comparisons to 9-year veteran Delanie Walker.

I would expect more times from the Mississippi State pro-day shortly.

Auburn
Once the group workout was complete, New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick worked out defensive linemen Angelo Blackson and Gabe Wright. Keep an eye on Blackson, who ran in the low 4.9-second range today after timing a hand-held best of 4.98 seconds at the combine. He’s a large (6-4.5, 318) athletic tackle who really doesn’t get the credit he deserves in part due to the way Auburn used its linemen.

I’m told scouts were very impressed with Sammie Coates’ workout today, especially the consistency of his hands, which has been an issue since the season. Both Coates and Cameron Artis-Payne met privately with the Cleveland Browns before the workout.

Mississippi State
Earlier I mentioned Benardrick McKinney meeting with the New York Jets. I also learned defensive lineman Preston Smith is meeting with the Cleveland Browns and four additional teams. Kaleb Eulls, who was one of the bigger combine snubs, will also be meeting with a host of teams.

Northwestern
Receiver Tony Jones did not work out today due to an ankle issue and is expected to workout later this month.

Underrated linebacker Chi Chi Ariguzo was the star of today’s pro-day. He weighed in at 228 pounds, ran fast (high 4.6-second range) and looked terrific in drills. A Northwestern coach gushed over Ariguzo’s performance to me.

Center/guard Brandon Vitabile ran 5.20/5.10 seconds in the 40 (a 1.84-second 10-yard split was his best), had a 29.5-inch vertical jump, an 8-10 broad and completed 25 reps on the bench. He measured 6-foot-5 and 314 pounds.

Pittsburgh
There was a packed house at Pittsburgh for T.J. Clemmings, who did position drills. I’m told Clemmings has been getting a lot of good feedback from his performance today. To date, he’s nearing 10 visits/personal workouts with franchises, and more are expected to be scheduled. As quoted to me, Clemmings’ dance card is quite full.

Auburn
As predicted earlier today, running back Corey Grant scorched the track in the 40, running times under 4.3s. As is usually the case, pro-day times are all over the place but the consensus had Grant at 4.27. His other marks were equally competitive, as Grant touched 37 inches in the vertical, 10-7 in the broad and 22reps on the bench.

I’m told the Atlanta Falcons, Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots have shown great interest in Grant, who has sealed himself as a late-round pick.

The Patriots have also shown a lot of interest in Auburn’s “other” running back, Cameron Artis-Payne. The fast-rising ball-carrier stood on his 40 time from the combine but ran the shuttle and 3-cone today (still awaiting times). During drills, he was quick-footed and caught the ball exceptionally well. Expect Artis-Payne to solidify himself as a top-100 pick.

I’m told other marks include cornerback Jonathon Mincy timing 4.52 in the 40 and defensive lineman Jeff Whitaker completing 41 reps on the bench.

Kevin Colbert of the Pittsburgh Steelers was on hand for the workout.

Northwestern
In keeping with tradition the Wildcats’ pro day is late in starting, but I’ve been told safety Ibraheim Campbell is targeting March 17 as the day he’ll run for scouts.

Mississippi State
The Bulldogs’ pro day is tomorrow, Wednesday, but I’m already told there will be a crowd on hand for Benardrick McKinney. Nearly a dozen linebacker coaches are expected to watch McKinney, who’s been drawing strong interest from the Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Miami Dolphins, Chicago Bears and New York Jets, who are meeting with the linebacker for dinner this evening.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Tuesday, March 3, 11:35 a.m. (update)
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

Auburn, Pittsburgh and Northwestern head Tuesday’s schedule of pro-day workouts.

Auburn
At Auburn, I’ve been told its doubtful that receiver Sammie Coates or running back Cameron Artis-Payne run the 40 again. One player to watch at this workout is Corey Grant. The speedy ball carrier is likely to get into the low 4.3s in the 40 and could potentially move into the 4.2s. Grant is an explosive open-field runner with return skills and someone who should’ve received a combine invite.

Pittsburgh
In Pittsburgh, T. J. Clemmings will only participate in position drills. As reported prior to the Combine, insiders believe Clemmings needed good workouts at the Combine and pro day to stay in the first round. His Combine testing marks ranked in the top 10 percent of the offensive linemen, so it’s understandable Clemmings does not run again.

Northwestern
Safety Ibraheim Campbell, who did nothing but the bench at the Combine (23 reps), as he was medically excluded due to a left hamstring strain, will not run at Northwestern’s pro day today. I’m told they hope to announce during the workout when Campbell will be ready to go.

Minnesota
As initially posted earlier, Maxx Williams sat on his combine numbers at Minnesota’s pro day, but as reported by others, he looked good in pass catching drills. And while I don’t consider Williams a first-round selection, a number of teams disagree. Last night, I was informed every team between picks 26 through 32, except for the Dallas Cowboys, New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts, will consider selecting Williams late in Round 1.

Virginia
Virginia running back Kevin Parks jumped well during pro day (39.5-inch vertical, 9-10 broad), did well on the bench (21 reps) and looked good in position drills. Unfortunately his 40 time, which clocked in the low 4.7s, will likely knock Parks out of any late-round consideration he had been receiving. I’m told in recent weeks, Parks had been timing in the mid-4.5s, which makes his performance today even more disappointing.

UT-Chattanooga
Twenty-two teams were on hand for UT-Chattanooga pro day this morning including directors of college scouting from the New York Jets, Tennessee Titans, Jacksonville Jaguars and Oakland Raiders.

Most all were on hand to watch Davis Tull, who did not disappoint. Tull, who has been struggling with hamstring and shoulder injuries, was first put through a battery of linebacker drills and looked good. Scouts felt his hip turn and pass drops were quick and fluid.

After drills, Tull ran one 40 and timed anywhere between 4.55 seconds to 4.59 seconds. I’m told Tull flipped the workout around, running drills before timing in the 40, in case his bad hamstring acted up, which in fact it did prior to his sprint.

It is of interest that two of the teams on hand, the New York Jets and Tennessee Titans, both need a 3-4 pass-rushing linebacker while the Jacksonville Jaguars are looking for a Bruce Irvin type of player.

Defensive lineman Derrick Lott, who has been ill in recent days, did not take part in the workout and will stand on his combine mark.

Virginia
Getting back to the Virginia pro day, Max Valles reportedly looked very good in both linebacker and defensive line drills.

Early word has 31 teams on hand for the Virginia pro day. Underclassman Max Valles decided to run the 40, and he improved from his Combine mark. Valles was clocked in times which ranged from the high 4.6s to low 4.7s.

2015 Pro Day Notes: Monday, March 2, 3:30 a.m.
By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/

The second day of March starts the final leg of the draft process as the pro-day schedule begins. For the next month and a half, we’ll bring you real-time results as NFL hopefuls have one final chance to impress potential future employers.

The first day on the pro-day schedule includes schools with big-name prospects but as of posting, few are expected to run.

At Minnesota, I’m told tight end Maxx Williams will sit on his combine numbers and only participate in pass-catching drills. Running back David Cobb won’t run today either, but is hoping to schedule a workout later this month. Linebacker Damien Wilson is expected to participate in drills.

At Virginia, I was told Max Valles will also stand on his combine numbers. Entering the Cavaliers’ pro-day, the feeling was the same for linebacker Eli Harold. The player to keep an eye on is running back Kevin Parks, a legitimate late-round candidate.

Scouts will also be at another ACC school today as Wake Forest is on the schedule.

The most intriguing pro-day workout today takes place at UT-Chattanooga, which had a pair of defensive prospects attend the combine.

One of them, defensive end/outside linebacker Davis Tull, has been hampered by injury in the offseason but scouts are looking forward to his workout. Despite playing with a torn labrum throughout the 2014 season, Tull finished the year with 18 tackles for loss and 10.5 sacks. He also completed 26 reps on the bench last week at the combine. The labrum injury kept him out of the Shrine Game, and is scheduled to undergo surgery to repair the tear on March 5th. Tull came to the combine with a grade-1 hamstring strain and chose not to run the 40 or shuttles, but posted a vertical jump of 42 inches and a broad jump of 11 feet. Today, Tull is expected to run the 40 and the shuttles, plus do position work.

Defensive tackle Derrick Lott, who played exceptionally well at the Shrine Game and completed 30 reps on the bench as well as running a hand-held 40 time of 4.93 seconds at 314 pounds, will also be participating at UT-Chattanooga’s pro-day.
