Pro Day Dates: March 13, 2010

Troy

Levi Brown, QB, Troy
Height: 6-3. Weight: 228.
Projected 40 Time: 4.95.
Combine 40 Time: 4.95.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.82.
Hand: 9 1/2.
Projected Round (2010): 7-FA.

1/15/10: Levi Brown has nice size, but he’s yet another product of a goofy college offense. Brown threw for 23 touchdowns and nine interceptions on a 63.7 completion percentage and 8.4 YPA.

Brandon Lang, DE, Troy
Height: 6-4. Weight: 266.
Projected 40 Time: 4.73.
Combine 40 Time: 4.96.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.85.
Benchx225: 20. Vertical: 31.5.
Projected Round (2010): 4-5.

3/2/10: Ran a very poor 4.96 40 at 6-4, 266. Not exactly what you want to see out of a pass-rusher.

1/22/10: Brandon Lang concluded the year with 12.5 TFL and 8.5 sacks.

11/14/09: Production is a bit down this year, but still solid (8.5 TFL, 6.5 sacks in nine games). A 4-3 end.

5/18/09: No one has ever made a movie about his life yet, but Brandon Lang is definitely on the right track. He had 58 tackles, 19 TFL and 11.5 sacks in 2008.

Boris Lee, ILB, Troy
Height: 6-0. Weight: 237.
Projected 40 Time: 4.76.
Combine 40 Time: 4.82.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.83.
Benchx225: 27. Vertical: 37.5.
Projected Round (2010): 6-7.

1/8/10: Once again a member of the All-Sun Belt First Team, Boris Lee had 83 tackles, eight TFL and three sacks. Now imagine if he had Natasha’s help. Zing!

2/19/09: Qualifying for the All-Sun Belt First Team, Boris Lee tallied a whopping 112 tackles, 9.5 TFL, 4.5 sacks and four passes broken up.

Cameron Sheffield, DE/OLB, Troy

Projected Round (2010): 4-5.

1/22/10: The “other” pass-rusher on Troy had 10 TFL and 6.5 sacks as a senior. Will play in the Senior Bowl.

Texas Tech

Brandon Carter, G, Texas Tech
Height: 6-6. Weight: 319.
Projected 40 Time: 5.52.
Combine 40 Time: 5.36.
Pro Day 40 Time: 5.24.
Benchx225: 24. Arm: 33 1/2.
Projected Round (2010): 5-6.

3/13/10: Brandon Carter did a great job shedding 10 pounds for his Pro Day. He ran a 5.24 – .12 seconds faster than his Combine time.

1/17/10: One of the scariest people in America, Brandon Carter was an AP All-American third-teamer despite a one-game suspension. Transitioning to a real scheme could be a challenge.

2/10/09: If you’ve watched any Texas Tech games, he’s the crazy guy with paint all over his face who looks like he just escaped from the mental hospital. Brandon Carter was an All-Big XII second-teamer.

7/28/08: And you thought John Jerry was huge… Brandon Carter eats defensive linemen for dinner and tops it off with a few safeties for dessert. In all seriousness, the monstrous Carter started 13 games in 2007, though it’s popular belief that he threatened to eat the entire coaching staff if they put him on the bench.

Brandon Sharpe, DE/OLB, Texas Tech
Height: 6-2. Weight: 254.
Projected 40 Time: 4.75.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.71.
Benchx225: 23. Vertical: 35.
Projected Round (2010): 5-6.

1/22/10: A dynamic pass-rushing specialist, Brandon Sharpe notched 18 TFL and 15 sacks as a senior.

11/14/09: Having a monstrous year for a surprising Texas Tech defense. Owns 11.5 TFL and 10.5 sacks in just eight games.

Jamar Wall, CB, Texas Tech
Height: 5-10. Weight: 204.
Projected 40 Time: 4.55.
Pro Day 40 Time: DNP.
Benchx225: 15. Vertical: 40.5.
Projected Round (2010): 6-7.

3/13/10: Couldn’t run the 40 at his Pro Day because of a tweaked hamstring.

1/9/10: Jamar Wall had a whopping 15 passes broken up as a senior, earning himself a spot on the All-Big XII Second Team.

3/7/09: Defense was a problem for Texas Tech in 2008, but don’t look at Jamar Wall. Wall, an All-Big XII honorable mention, broke up 11 passes and snagged two interceptions.

8/5/08: Jamar Wall started every game as a sophomore and recorded five interceptions. He was on the All-Big XII Second Team.

Marlon Winn, OT, Texas Tech
Height: 6-5. Weight: 305.
Projected 40 Time: 5.17.
Pro Day 40 Time: 5.27.
Benchx225: 19. Arm: .
Projected Round (2010): FA.

1/18/10: Another All-Big XII honorable mention.

2/9/09: Marlon Winn, an important cog up front for Texas Tech’s prolific offense, was an All-Big XII honorable mention.

7/27/08: Marlon Winn was inserted into the starting lineup when Texas Tech’s starting right tackle went down with an injury. Winn performed admirably in his absence.

BYU

Max Hall, QB, BYU
Height: 6-0. Weight: 204.
Projected 40 Time: 4.73.
Combine 40 Time: 4.84.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.77.
Hand: 9.
Projected Round (2010): 6-7.

1/15/10: Remember when Max Hall had 11 touchdowns to 10 picks? Well, he finished the year with 33 touchdowns and just 14 interceptions on a 67.2 completion percentage and an 8.7 YPA. Nice rebound. Size is still a concern.

10/10/09: The good: Max Hall has 11 touchdowns, a 9.2 YPA and a completion percentage of 68 through five games. The bad: Hall has 10 interceptions.

9/12/09: Max Hall, Tim Hiller and Zac Robinson are all battling to be the first quarterback to be taken after the opening round, and it looks like Hall has taken the early lead. Hall was an amazing 26-of-38 for 329 yards, two touchdowns and a pair of picks against Oklahoma. Hall was very poised on BYU’s game-winning drive and showed great leadership in the Cougars’ upset victory. Hall made one mistake early in the game when he threw a pass across his body that was intercepted, but I’d say he atoned for that error.

2/4/09: Max Hall had a prolific year for BYU, throwing for 3,957 yards and 35 touchdowns. His completion percentage (69.2) and YPA (8.3) were also outstanding.

7/24/08: A transfer from Arizona State and a member of the 2007 All-Mountain West team, Max Hall garnered 3,848 yards, 26 touchdowns and 12 picks as a sophomore. In two games against UCLA (one was the Las Vegas Postseason Exhibition Match), Hall went 51-of-85, 622 yards, four scores and one pick.

Jan Jorgensen, DE/OLB, BYU
Height: 6-2. Weight: 256.
Projected 40 Time: 4.61.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.93.
Benchx225: 29. Vertical: 34.
Projected Round (2010): 7-FA.

1/22/10: An All-Mountain West first-teamer, Jan Jorgensen notched 10.5 TFL and 6.5 sacks as a senior.

2/12/09: Jan Jorgensen had 8.5 TFL and five sacks in 2008, earning himself a spot on the All-Mountain West First Team.

7/30/08: After collecting five sacks as a redshirt freshman, Jan Jorgensen notched 14 in 2007, obviously qualifying for the All-Mountain West first team. Jorgensen would be listed higher if he weren’t a few years older than everyone on this chart. He spent three years on a mission.

Manase Tonga, FB, BYU
Height: 5-11. Weight: 245.
Projected 40 Time: 4.74.
Combine 40 Time: 4.85. br> Pro Day 40 Time: 4.72.
Benchx225: 19. Vertical: . Broad: .
Projected Round (2010): 6-7.

10/10/09: Manase Tonga is maintaining a mere 3.0 YPC, but also has nine receptions for 74 yards through five games.

Marcus Sherels, CB, Minnesota
Height: 5-9. Weight: 175.
Projected 40 Time: 4.40.

Projected 40 Time: 4.47.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.58.
Benchx225: 8. Vertical: 33.5.
Projected Round (2010): 7-FA.

3/13/10: Traye Simmons ran very poorly at his Pro Day. No one wants short and slow corners.

1/9/10: An All-Big Ten honorable mention, Traye Simmons broke up eight passes as a senior.

3/7/09: In just his first season in Minnesota, Traye Simmons qualified for the All-Big Ten Second Team, compiling 61 tackles, 14 passes broken up and four picks.

8/5/08: One of the nation’s top JUCO transfers this year.
