2019 NCAA Tournament Picks – Final Four Bracket

By Walter Cherepinsky – @walterfootball

Rather than go through, game by game, I’m going to show you my selections on the brackets and post notes on some of the interesting contests:

I have just one No. 1 seed to make it into the Final Four. There could certainly be two or more No. 1 seeds in the Big Dance, but if you’re looking to win a tournament, you’ll need to pick some upsets. Virginia, meanwhile, is not a true No. 1 seed in the sense that people will be afraid to pick them after seeing them lose to UMBC last year.

Starting with the Virginia game, the Cavaliers have the superior adjusted offense and defense. Virginia also has better experience, as most of its key players are juniors, while Kentucky has the typical freshman. I’m going with Virginia in this game.

Michigan State versus Michigan would be very intriguing if we didn’t see it three times already. The Spartans own the Wolverines. They’re 3-0 against them this year. I don’t see why a fourth meeting would be any different.

The championship is Michigan State versus Virginia. The Spartans and Cavaliers are two of three teams in the field that have adjusted offense and defense rankings in the top eight, with the third being Duke, a squad that could very easily make the Final Four.

When it’s all said and done, I trust Tom Izzo over Tony Bennett in a big game, so I like Michigan State to win the NCAA Tournament. I’m going to make some brackets with Virginia and other teams prevailing, but this is what my primary bracket will look like.
