2014 NBA Draft Scouting Report: Patric Young
Position: Power Forward
Size: 6-9, 240
School: Florida, Senior
Strengths:
Weaknesses:
Summary: At this point, Young is what he is; a physical, active post player who brings terrific energy to both ends of the floor. His offensive game is still limited to around the basket, but he could find a spot off some NBA team’s bench as a role player. Once considered a lottery prospect, his lack of development on the offensive end now projects him as a second-round prospect.
Player Comparison: Jason Maxiell. Limited in what he can do on the offensive end, Maxiell has made a living in the NBA with his rebounding and physicality down low. Young has yet to show any real versatility on the offensive end, but because he is built like a house, he will have to follow a similar path as Maxiell by being a role player who defends and attacks the glass.
