2014 NBA Draft Scouting Report: Nik Stauskas
Position: Shooting Guard
Size: 6-6, 205
School: Michigan, Sophomore
Strengths:
Weaknesses:
Summary: With Trey Burke and Tim Hardaway Jr. moving on to the NBA, Stauskas has become the go-to option for the Wolverines this season. He can shoot lights out from distance, which is always coveted by NBA teams, but has also displayed an improvement attacking off the bounce. Still, his shooting will be his calling card at the next level, and it’s possible that he could go as high as the mid-late teens.
Player Comparison: Kevin Martin. I’m not saying Stauskas will be a 20-point per game scorer in the NBA like Martin has, but the two have similar offensive games in that they can both stroke it from the outside and each is lackluster defensively. Martin can be effective off the bounce, and Stauskas is getting there, but it will be the ability to light it up from deep that earns Stauskas minutes at the next level.
