2013 NBA Draft Scouting Report: Victor Oladipo


Position: Shooting Guard

Size: 6-5, 214

School: Indiana, Junior


Strengths:

Lockdown perimeter defender

Can guard multiple positions

Absolute ball hawk on D

Jumping passing lanes

Plays incredibly hard

Athleticism

Explosive at the rim

Attacking the basket

Awesome in the open floor

Three-point range

Rebounds well for his position

Weaknesses:

Consistency with outside shooting

Going left off the bounce

Ball handling could improve

Summary: I am starting to become a HUGE fan of Oladipo and honestly think he could be a lottery pick by the time June rolls around. He is an absolute terror on the defensive end and terrific attacking the basket, which will be his two biggest strengths at the next level. The strides Oladipo has made in his junior season means he is still improving too. Forget Cody Zeller, Oladipo has been Indiana’s best player this season.

Player Comparison: Thabo Sefolosha.

Sefolosha has made his mark in the NBA as a terrific defender and that is what Oladipo’s calling card will be as well. I think Oladipo has more potential as a scorer due to his athleticism and explosiveness at the rim, which is why I think there is a little Andre Iguodala to his game as well.
