2013 NBA Draft Scouting Report: Jeff Withey
Position: Center
Size: 7-0, 235
School: Kansas, Senior
Strengths:
Weaknesses:
Summary: Withey has continued to blossom in his senior year at Kansas, developing into one of the best rim protectors in college basketball. Due to a limited offensive game, I am not sure that he is anything more than a career backup in the NBA but size is always needed at the next level, and his ability to block shots could earn him late-lottery looks.
Player Comparison: Omer Asik.
Lacking a ton of mobility or athleticism, Asik has developed into a double-double NBA big man because of his size and activity on the inside. While it seems highly unlikely that Withey will ever put together a season like Asik has this year in Houston, the Jayhawks senior could be a very solid reserve like Asik was last year in Chicago.
