2023 NBA Offseason Grade – New Orleans Pelicans

New Orleans Pelicans- Grade: B

Additions:

  • Cody Zeller
  • Jordan Hawkins

Losses:

  • Jaxon Hayes

The Pelicans have had a very quiet offseason. Their biggest addition was potential stud rookie Hawkins, who fits perfectly. I like the Jones signing as well because he’s a big piece for them. The Zeller minimum signing, meanwhile, was simply smart, as he improves their big man depth. The offseason drama with Zion Williamson is really the only Pelicans story occurring for them.

Signings:

  • Herb Jones- Grade: B
  • Cody Zeller- Grade: A-

Trades:

  • None

Pelicans’ 2023 NBA Draft – Grade: A

  • No. 14: Jordan Hawkins, G, Connecticut

Hawkins was one of my favorite prospects in the 2023 NBA Draft because he is a winner and a scorer of epic proportions. The Pelicans had a huge hole at guard next to C.J. McCollum, and I cannot think of a prospect who fits their needs more. They needed another big-time scorer and shooter, which is who Hawkins is, and no I won’t punish them for saying “no” to Whitmore. New Orleans already has so much invested at the three and four, and guard was a need, so Hawkins was a fine pick.
