Dallas Mavericks- Grade: A
Additions:
- Grant Williams
- Seth Curry
- Dereck Lively
Losses:
- Christian Wood
- JaVale McGee
The Mavericks had an elite offseason. First, they were able to sign all-star Kyrie Irving to a multi-season contract, pairing him and Luka Doncic for awhile. I also loved Dallas signing Seth Curry, one of my favorite reserve guards in the NBA, cheaply and keeping vital big man Dwight Powell for very little as well. The Grant Williams sign-and-trade landed the Mavericks a starting small forward who is gifted on defense and an excellent shooter. They also drafted Dereck Lively, my second favorite big in the 2023 NBA Draft. He has star potential defensively. Dallas should end up competing for the No. 5 or 6 seed, and although the roster still lacks a third star, the team has put together an excellent offseason.

Mavericks’ 2023 NBA Draft – Grade: A-
- No. 12: Cason Wallace, G, Kentucky
The Mavericks’ actual draft was trading Cason Wallace and pairing him with shooter Davis Bertans for Dereck Lively, pick No. 10, and then making a deal with Sacramento for pick No. 24 to take another big man, Marquette’s Olivier Maxence Prosper. They could form Dallas’ long-term big-man duo and are two very nice pieces to develop with Irving and Luka Doncic. I’m a huge, huge fan of Lively.
