2010 NBA Free Agency Signings Analysis – July 4

Milwaukee Bucks re-sign SG John Salmons to 5-year, $39 million deal
Even though they have already acquired Corey Maggette and Chris Douglas-Roberts via trade, Milwaukee acted quickly in re-signing Salmons who opted out of the final year of his deal to become a free agent. He was critical in the Bucks’ run to the postseason, filling in for the injured Michael Redd and teaming with Brandon Jennings to become the go-to players. This deal seems to be fair for both parties involved and adds to an already very productive offseason in Milwaukee.

Los Angeles Lakers sign PG Steve Blake to 4-year, $16 million deal
The two-time defending champs needed to find an upgrade at the point this offseason and didn’t waste any time in adding Blake. Is he an upgrade over Derek Fisher or Jordan Farmer? Slightly. But with only their mid-level exception available and a weak free agent point guard class, this seems like a reasonable contract. This signing probably marks the end of either Fisher or Farmar’s days in Hollywood.
