Our first mock of the year as we have 18/32 draft spots locked in. Will likely be posting 2.0 after the NFL season is over. Just rough mocks with the minimal information we currently have. |
Round:1
Raiders desperately need a QB after the failed Geno Smith experiment.
A bunch of chatter about Moore not declaring, with an opportunity to be the second QB off the board on an underrated Jets offence, it seems like a no brainer.
This is where the unknown of the NFL Draft begins, the Cardinals may need a QB if they decide to move on from Kyler Murray, although is Ty Simpson worth a top 3 selection? With that being said, we'll role with a bit of a unicorn player to help this bottom 5 sack defence in linebacker/edge rusher Arvell Reese.
A sneaky spot to see our first trade down here as the Titans could use some upgrades at multiple positions. What they do this offseason has a large effect on this pick. For the time being we'll boost a weak pass rush with David Bailey, a speedy edge rusher from Texas Tech.
The Giants can go many ways here, as they need help at WR, OL and DB. With some talented edge rushers available, it's possible the Giants can trade back to acquire some more draft capital as they are missing a third rounder. For now, let's get Dart some weapons to take some pressure off him.
As things currently stand, the Browns would essentially have their entire offensive line hitting free agency, now I assume there will be some re-signings/signings, although they'll need to get cheaper and younger upfront regardless.
Its a bit concerning when your sack leader is a 36 year old Von Miller, that probably means its time for some upgrades, Bain or Faulk will likely be the pick here.
A bit of a luxury pick, although this offence will need anything it can take. It seems like Tyler Shough is the guy in New Orleans and with that being said, you need to give him help now.
This spot could also be used to address a bit of a mess at offensive line, although I like the opportunity to address a weak secondary here with a versatile corner in Delane.
The Bengals are losing ProBowl pass rusher Trey Hendrickson this offseason and will need immediate defensive help to compete for a playoff spot.
Is Tua actually out as the QB in Miami? This pick is giant question mark until we got some actual information on the ongoing scenario. If Tua is out, Miami must begin the rebuild with a young quarterback.
Ive seen a bunch of Caleb Downs top 5 hype and I constantly find myself not buying into it. Therefore this would be considered a bit of a steal for Dallas? Downs should instantly contribute to what was one of the worst pass defences in the NFL.
We will have to see what Stafford, Adams and Hevenstein decide to do at the end of the season before we can get an idea of this pick. I'll go with the assumption that Stafford and Adams return, although Havenstein walks and the Rams look to bolster their tackle position.
Didn't expect to see the Ravens coachless at this point but here we are! Whoever gets brought in will need to get some more pass catching help for this offence.
Im relatively high on Styles, he's got a great mix of size and speed although he is relatively raw as he played safety and moved to linebacker. I believe with his athleticism he can be a great linebacker and rush the quarterback when needed.
The Jets got their QB of the future with their second overall selection, now they'll need improve a secondary that did not record a single interception this season. Terrell excels in man which Jets play quite often and may be on of the fastest corners in this years draft.
The Lions SuperBowl window is closing at an alarming rate, their offensive line, although great, has been constantly banged up and in need of some more youth. Proctor is a very raw talent with incredible size, he will fit in perfectly on a physical Lions team.
The Vikings can use a little help in their secondary, lucky for them, this is a relatively talented DB draft class for them to sort out a weak secondary.
Defence defence defence. The panthers need to fix this defence, and fast. The Panthers secondary has been serviceable although they are bottom 5 in QB sacks. This is a playoff team moving forward and needs to be built like one. Woods is a versatile defensive lineman who can grow and learn some better pass rushing.
The Cowboys are back up with their second selection in the first round, one thing of note id like to mention is the upcoming free agents in Javonte Williams and George Pickens, there is a possibility the Cowboys are unable to retain one of them and go offence here. For our scenario we assume they are able to bring back Pickens and will continue to fix a partridge defence with some pass rushing help.
With how much money the Steelers have invested in their defence, they will need to shift their draft focus on the offence. Lomu should be able to slot in on this Steelers line.
This Chargers team is a serious playoff contender and needs instant starters. There is a chance they go OL here although I believe they need to look at CB and draft Cisse who showed flashes in man and zone.
Depending on Lane Johnsons future, the Eagles may need to get offensive line help to fix that right side of the line. Were going to assume he stays which would have Philly pivot to CB for a long term solution next to Mitchell.
It seems like the Bills have been looking for WR1 every season since the Diggs departure. Boston may finally be the piece that the Bills have been looking for.
The Bears invested alot of money and draft capital into their offence and it's fair to say that they succeeded. This is a unit that will be in the playoff hunt moving forward and is in desperate need of help on that defensive line.
Juan Jennings is a pending free agent, Pearsall cannot stay healthy and Kittle is aging, the Niners need to replace these weapons and fast. Lemon is a speedy slot receiver that could have success in Shanahans system.
Houstons offensive line has been better than expected, but that's not good enough. Although he still needs some polishing, World is absolutely massive and can be an instant starter on this line.
The Browns are back up after going offensive line at pick 6. There is a possibility they continue to build the line depending how this offseason goes, but for the sake of things we'll assume they've added some line help. That being said Myles Garrett needs some assistance on the other side and Zion Young has the tools to help instantly.
The Rams are up again after going offensive line at pick 13. There are a few Rams corners pending in free agency so this is a good opportunity to get even younger and cheaper on the back end.
The Patriots receiving core is a bit of a mashup of players with not really a single Alpha. Although I don't believe Sadiq is a true number one, he is someone who can create mistmatches and chaos for defenders with his speed and hands.
Washington is a massive run stuffer that has already shown some NFL traits with his run defence. He will need to learn better pass rushing but the Broncos don't need assistance there at the moment.
The Seahawks don't have much outside of JSN, and with offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak likely departing for a head coaching role, it may be time to address some offensive weapons. Concepcion is a speedy route runner who can get open at all three levels, lack of size may hinder his potential.
