Entering the 2026 NFL Draft process, there was a lot of excitement for the offensive tackle tandem at Utah. Left tackle Caleb Lomu and right tackle Spencer Fano were receiving good buzz from team evaluators, and scouts who saw them in training camp liked what they saw with Fano’s skill set. However, this season, Fano has not played up to his abilities, and multiple team sources think he should go back to Utah to improve before going to the NFL.
“I was really excited to watch him this year,” said an AFC senior executive. “But I was really disappointed in the tape. I gave him a backup grade. He should go back.”
While Fano has disappointed this season, he does have a good skill set and upside. He could be a good tester before the draft, and that could help his stock rebound some. Still, team sources feel his tape is underwhelming, and he should go back to Utah next season to improve before going to the NFL.
