2025 NFL Draft Rumor Results

Shedeur Sanders
I post lots of things in the NFL Draft Rumors section from various reporters on the Internet and in print media. I’ve been rating how these reporters perform each year because it’s important to differentiate between those who actually have sources, and those who nonsensically post on Twitter, pretending to know people in NFL organizations.

I took a glance back and counted how many “wins” and “losses” each reporter had. I didn’t look at whom they slotted in their mock drafts – we did that in our 2025 NFL Mock Draft Results page – but rather, my task was delving into reports that said “Team X really likes Player A,” or “Team Y plans to trade up.”

I’ve also included the best reports and worst reports for 2025, so check those out below the following wins and losses (Note that these aren’t exactly ordered by percentage; getting a report right is difficult, so I wanted to award those who had more correct. As a result, it’s sort of a mixture.) Follow @walterfootball for updates.

Best 2025 NFL Draft Reports

7. Many mock drafters slotted Grey Zabel to the Seahawks, but Tony Pauline reported it:

“People I’ve spoken with think it’s going to be Grey Zabel.” – Tony Pauline, Sportskeeda

6. Some expected the Saints to consider a quarterback at No. 9:

If the Saints draft a quarterback, it’ll be with the 40th pick rather than the ninth. – Nick Underhill, New Orleans Football

5. Many mock drafts had the Raiders selecting an offensive lineman, but this reporter said otherwise:

Many around the league believe that the Raiders have fallen in love with Ashton Jeanty. – Jonathan Jones, CBS

4. Will Campbell was once 6/1 to go to the Patriots. Charlie Campbell was the first to link the two together with strong conviction:

The Patriots like the options at No. 4 between Travis Hunter, Abdul Carter, and Will Campbell. – Charlie Campbell, WalterFootball.com

3. Way too many people mocked Shedeur Sanders to the Steelers, but they could have avoided that obviously wrong pick had they listened to Aaron Wilson:

Shedeur Sanders’ meeting with the Steelers did not go well. – Aaron Wilson, NBC Houston

2. There was some buzz on Draft Day that the Jaguars would trade up to No. 2. Ian Rapoport was the first to report it.

The Jaguars are a team to watch to move up to No. 2. – Ian Rapoport, NFL Network

1. Mike Jurecki is the best team reporter in the business. He nailed the Walter Nolen pick:

The Cardinals love Walter Nolen and wish for him to fall to No. 16. – Mike Jurecki, Cardinals reporter

Worst 2025 NFL Draft Reports

7. Matt Miller is the worst draft reporter in the business. Here’s another example from the guy who once called Matt Barkley a top-10 lock:

“I keep hearing the receiver pick will come in Round 2 in Packers fashion.” – Matt Miller, ESPN

6. Mike Florio has suffered a major mental decline lately, resulting in poor reports like this:

The Broncos will look to draft Treyveon Henderson, perhaps via trading up. – Mike Florio, Pro Football Talk

5. Jordan Ranaan is a good reporter, but he definitely messed up with this one:

The Giants have their sights set on Shedeur Sanders. – Jordan Ranaan, ESPN

4. Adam Schefter had a horrendous pre-draft process:

New Orleans and Pittsburgh are the most plausible destinations for Shedeur Sanders. – Adam Schefter, ESPN

3. Here’s another poor call from Schefter:

Abdul Carter is the likely pick for the Browns. – Adam Schefter, ESPN

2. The Giants obviously were not selecting Shedeur Sanders at No. 3 overall:

The Giants still may select Shedeur Sanders at No. 3 even after signing Russell Wilson. – Adam Schefter, ESPN

1. This might be the worst draft report of all time:

It’s a confident sentiment that the Browns will draft a quarterback at No. 2 overall. – Adam Schefter, ESPN
