Prospect Summary:

Entering the 2024 season, Thomas was not well-known after being a backup the previous two seasons. In 2023, Thomas rotated into the game and flashed some ability with 10 breakups and 29 tackles. As a junior, Thomas became a starter and had a strong season for Florida State with 52 tackles, an interception, and four passes broken up.

Florida State played Thomas on the island, and he was consistently in man coverage. Thomas is a man who covers corners well and profiles well for playing press man. He showed improved strength as a junior with a better ability to stall receivers and reroute them. While Thomas is big and long, he is able to turn and run with receivers going vertically downfield. With excellent height and long arms, Thomas is an asset to take on big, wide outs. He has quality ball skills to tip passes away and times his breakups well. Thomas looks versatile, where he could fit playing press man, zone, or off man coverage.

Thomas is a one-year starter and could use some development. He is inconsistent and will have some busts in coverage. Thomas lacks some recoverability with just an average short-area burst.

In the 2025 NFL Draft, Thomas could be a late first-round pick, and he should not get out of the second round.

Prospect Comparison:

Akhello Witherspoon. In terms of style of play, Thomas reminds me of Witherspoon. Witherspoon is a tall, long cover corner that has has had seasons of solid play while also showing some limitations.
