Ole Miss
Marshay Green, CB, Ole Miss
Height: 5-9. Weight: 175.
Projected 40 Time: 4.56.
Combine 40 Time: 4.64.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.52.
Benchx225: 13. Vertical: 36.
Projected Round (2010): FA.
Greg Hardy, DE, Ole Miss – Scouting Report
Height: 6-4. Weight: 277.
Projected 40 Time: 4.69.
Combine 40 Time: 4.87.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.79.
Benchx225: 21. Vertical: 35.
Projected Round (2010): 4-5.
3/2/10: Greg Hardy ran a hideous 4.87 at the Combine. He can’t keep his weight down in the wake of all of his injuries. I don’t see how any team drafts him in the first two days.
2/28/10: This guy can’t stop gaining weight. He was 279 at the Senior Bowl, which was high for him. On Saturday, Greg Hardy weighed in at 6-4, 281. Does he want to play nose tackle or something?
1/22/10: Greg Hardy measured in at 6-4, 279 at the East-West Shrine Game. I thought he looked fat all year, but I figured it was just my TV. Guess not. Hardy’s lethargy could pull him into Round 3.
11/14/09: Through eight games, has 6.5 TFL and five sacks. Pretty much a 4-3 end; I think he’d have problems dropping back into coverage.
1/9/09: Despite playing just eight games, Greg Hardy totaled 9.5 TFL and 8.5 sacks as a junior.
11/16/08: A bit disappointing that Greg Hardy hasn’t played much all year because of a foot injury. He has 4.5 TFL and three sacks in just four games.
5/7/08: Greg Hardy’s a lock to go in the first round if he repeats what he did in 2007; Hardy had 10 sacks and 18 tackles for losses, both of which are incredible numbers when you factor that he did this in the SEC. With a great 2008 campaign, Hardy could crack the top 10.
Shay Hodge, WR, Ole Miss
Height: 6-2. Weight: 214.
Projected 40 Time: 4.54.
Combine 40 Time: 4.57.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.55.
Vertical: 33. Broad: 9-10.
Projected Round (2010): 4-5.
1/19/10: Shay Hodge finished his impressive senior campaign with 70 grabs, 1,135 yards and eight touchdowns.
10/10/09: Through four games, Shay Hodge has 17 receptions for 269 yards and three touchdowns. He caught eight balls for 122 yards and two scores at Vanderbilt.
John Jerry, G/RT, Ole Miss
Height: 6-5. Weight: 335.
Projected 40 Time: 5.32.
Combine 40 Time: 5.15.
Pro Day 40 Time: DNP.
Benchx225: 31. Arm: 34.
Projected Round (2010): 3-4.
1/17/10: Teams that prefer larger linemen like the Eagles, Cowboys and Vikings will be all over John Jerry in the middle rounds. Jerry was an All-SEC first-teamer.
10/24/09: Named SEC Lineman of the Week in early October. Will fit with a team that prefers large linemen like the Eagles.
2/10/09: Will likely follow his older brother, Perry Jerry, into the NFL as a first-day selection.
7/28/08: Indianapolis residents should think about getting earthquake insurance soon. When John Jerry runs a 40 at the combine, many homes could be destroyed. Jerry, obviously a punishing run-blocker, started nine contests as a sophomore.
Kendrick Lewis, FS, Ole Miss
Height: 6-0. Weight: 194.
Projected 40 Time: 4.57.
Combine 40 Time: 4.72.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.65.
Benchx225: 16. Vertical: 30.5.
Projected Round (2010): 7-FA.
1/14/10: Kendrick Lewis broke up a whopping 10 passes. Additionally, he had 84 tackles and five TFL.
Dexter McCluster, RB/WR/KR, Ole Miss
Height: 5-9. Weight: 172.
Projected 40 Time: 4.36.
Combine 40 Time: 4.55.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.44.
Benchx225: 20. Vertical: 37.5. Broad: 9-10.
Projected Round (2010): 2-3.
1/27/10: Dexter McCluster is generating a buzz in Mobile, and some are beginning to say that he’s the next Leon Washington. More details available in the 2010 Senior Bowl section.
1/19/10: Not really a receiver; more like a cool weapon for the Wildcat or any trick plays. Rushed for 1,169 yards and caught 44 balls for 520 yards.
2/7/09: Ole Miss’ all-purpose player, Dexter McCluster rushed for 655 yards and garnered 625 receiving yards. He had seven total touchdowns. In two years, Chris Berman can joke about McCluster’s last stand. It’ll be epic.
Jevan Snead, QB, Ole Miss – Scouting Report
Height: 6-3. Weight: 223.
Projected 40 Time: 4.82.
Combine 40 Time: 5.01.
Hand: 10.
Projected Round (2010): 3-4.
3/23/10: Threw well at his Pro Day, missing only two of 42 attempts. However, his weakness remains his decision-making.
3/1/10: Jevan Snead was the most impressive quarterback at the Combine, displaying tremendous accuracy during the drills. Accuracy and decision-making betrayed him this past season, so it was good to see him improve in one of those two areas.
1/8/10: Jevan Snead has declared for the 2010 NFL Draft. This may seem strange, but it’s the right move; Snead had less talent around him this year than he did in 2008, and he would have had nothing in 2010. He was also in danger of being benched. Snead’s upside will get him drafted early on Day 3 at the very worst.
11/7/09: Jevan Snead’s TD-INT ratio is 15-13 and his completion percentage is 51.5. His upside will get him selected in Round 2, but his stock has fallen a ton.
10/10/09: Jevan Snead has great arm strength and will be considered in the second half of the first round, but he has struggled with accuracy and decision-making this season.
9/12/09: With Sam Bradford out 2-4 weeks, Jevan Snead had the perfect opportunity to become the No. 1 quarterback in the 2010 class. Instead, Snead was a pedestrian 12-of-22 for 175 yards, two touchdowns and two picks versus lowly Memphis during the opening game of the season. Snead was very inaccurate and his mechanics were shot. This was only one game, so don’t read too much into it, but with more performances like this, Snead is in danger of falling behind Jimmy Clausen.
5/10/09: Jevan Snead could be in the top 10 with another great year; I currently have him going eighth in my 2010 NFL Mock Draft. We’ll see how he does without Michael Oher and Mike Wallace.
2/4/09: Along with Michael Oher, Greg Hardy and Peria Jerry, Jevan Sneed was a major reason for Ole Miss’ recent success. Sneed threw for 2,762 yards, 26 touchdowns and 13 picks as a sophomore. He also had an 8.4 YPA. His completion percentage of 56.3 is his only blemish.
Notre Dame
Kyle McCarthy, S, Notre Dame
Height: 6-0. Weight: 203.
Projected 40 Time: 4.62.
Combine 40 Time: 4.63.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.54.
Benchx225: 24. Vertical: .
Projected Round (2010): 7-FA.
1/14/10: As one of Notre Dame’s team captains, Kyle McCarthy compiled 101 tackles, five interceptions and four pass deflections.
Golden Tate, WR, Notre Dame – Scouting Report
Height: 5-11. Weight: 202.
Projected 40 Time: 4.41.
Combine 40 Time: 4.36.
Pro Day 40 Time: DNP.
Vertical: . Broad: 10-0.
Projected Round (2010): 1-2.
3/1/10: The Golden Tate Warrior had a fantastic Sunday at the Combine, running a 4.36 and notching a 10-0 broad jump. There’s a good chance he’ll be drafted at the bottom of Round 1.
2/27/10: Listed at 5-11, 195, Golden Tate weighed in at 5-10, 199 at the Combine. Tate is built like a running back, and there is some speculation that he projects solely as a slot receiver.
1/3/10: Golden Tate has declared for the 2010 NFL Draft. The Golden Tate Warrior made an obvious decision; with Charlie Weis and Jimmy Clausen gone, Tate almost had to declare.
11/7/09: Doesn’t have the upside of an Arrelious Benn, but I’d rather have the sure thing. Golden Tate has 56 catches for 927 yards and nine touchdowns in eight games.
10/10/09: Golden Tate has really stepped up his production with Michael Floyd out. Through five games, Tate has 33 receptions, 602 yards and four touchdowns.
5/13/09: As a mere sophomore, Golden Tate caught 58 balls for 1,080 yards and 10 touchdowns in Notre Dame’s pro-style offense. With another great year, Tate could be a first-round prospect.
Sam Young, OT, Notre Dame
Height: 6-8. Weight: 315.
Projected 40 Time: 5.20.
Combine 40 Time: 5.19.
Pro Day 40 Time: DNP.
Benchx225: 29. Arm: 34 1/2.
Projected Round (2010): 3-4.
1/31/10: I can’t believe I’m saying this, but Sam Young actually looked good in the Senior Bowl. He opened up a huge lane for his running back in the first quarter and was sound in pass protection all afternoon.
1/26/10: As a right tackle prospect, weighing in at 305 wasn’t good for Sam Young’s stock.
1/18/10: Made a huge mistake by not declaring for the 2009 NFL Draft; Sam Young had a horrific senior campaign.
10/24/09: Probably should have declared last year; USC exposed Sam Young.
11/1/08: As expected, Sam Young really improved this season and has emerged as a possible second-round prospect.
2007: Sam Young really struggled at Penn State. On one drive, he was guilty of holding and false start penalties. He was also responsible for a few sacks allowed.
Young was arguably the top recruit in the 2006 high school class, and you can tell why by just looking at him. Started for Notre Dame as a true freshman and went against the likes of Lawrence Jackson. Still has room to grow, which is pretty scary.
Bowling Green
Freddie Barnes, WR, Bowling Green
Height: 6-0. Weight: 215.
Projected 40 Time: 4.53.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.67.
Vertical: 30.5. Broad: 8-11.
Projected Round (2010): 6-7.
3/23/10: Freddie Barnes ran poorly at his Pro Day, managing an unimpressive 4.67. His 30.5-inch vertical didn’t help either.
1/19/10: Though his offense inflated his numbers, they’re still fun to look at: 155 receptions, 1,770 yards and 19 touchdowns.
South Dakota State
Danny Batten, DE, South Dakota State
Height: 6-3. Weight: 246.
Projected 40 Time: 4.64.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.71.
Benchx225: 30. Vertical: 32.5.
Projected Round (2010): 5-6.
1/22/10: Projected as a nickel rusher in the NFL, Danny Batten notched 17 TFL and nine sacks as a senior.
