2010 NBA Draft Scouting Report: Omar Samhan
Position: Center
Size: 6-11, 260
School: St. Mary’s, Senior
Strengths:
Weaknesses:
Summary: Big guys who have a natural feel around the rim are seemingly becoming more and more difficult to find at the next level which is why Samham might have a chance to find a home in the NBA. His lack of athleticism will be a major concern for NBA general managers, which puts him on the borderline of being a second-round pick or going undrafted.
Player Comparison: A less-athletic Nenad Kristic. Samhan isn’t quite as athletic and doesn’t have the face-up game that Kristic does, but their ability to score the basketball around the rim using fundamental post moves is very similar. If you took Kristic’s skills in the paint and combined it with Brad Miller’s build and mobility, that would be a more accurate description of Samhan.
