Jeff Green, TO

Jae’Sean Tate, TO

Boban Marjanovic, UFA

Reggie Bullock, UFA

Aaron Holiday, UFA

2023-24 Season Overview:

The Rockets spent a lot of money to not make the playoffs, which was pretty obvious as they are in the West, but they had a nice season, since they were basically .500. Houston still has incredible young talent with Alperen Sengun, Amen Thompson, Jalen Green, Jabari Smith and Cam Whitmore, so again, the club had no need to add a bunch of expensive veterans to a team that couldn’t win.

Holes:

A first option

Shooting

A true point guard

Offseason Goals

If I ran this franchise, I wouldn’t have signed Fred VanVleet, Jeff Green, Dillon Brooks and Jock Landale. I would have built using the team’s recent draftees, who are uber-talented. This offseason really is about two factors for Houston. The first is the team’s pick from the Nets, which is at No. 3. Really, the Rockets should add it to a trade. The second is dealing with Jalen Green. They’ve considered dealing Jalen Green and picks for an All-Star, and they should continue shopping the 22-year-old scoring guard using picks, including the the third overall. He’s a less efficient version of VanVleet, and VanVleet and Jalen Green from a poor defensive duo. Amen Thompson, however, would fit well with VanVleet.

Regardless, as for the actual Jalen Green trade, if the Rockets were to pair Jalen Green and three first-round picks, they could catch a big fish. I like Donovan Mitchell for Houston because he would give the team a true first scoring option. That would make the Rockets a legitimate playoff team and more if the younger guys grow.
