2023 NBA Offseason Grade – Chicago Bulls

Chicago Bulls- Grade: B-

Additions:

  • JeVon Carter
  • Torrey Craig
  • Julian Phillips

Losses:

  • Lonzo Ball
  • Patrick Beverley
  • Derrick Jones Jr.

The Bulls needed to make a big change because they are as mediocre as a team can be, but I like the players they acquired. I really like that Chicago replaced Lonzo Ball by stealing Bucks point guard Jevon Carter, who is a poor man’s Ball. Carter is an elite shooter who defends and is a playmaker. Torrey Craig is also a fantastic addition, as he’s an excellent shooter and role player; he could feasibly start at the four. I’m not a huge fan of Julian Phillips, and I’m disappointed that the Bulls couldn’t get Marko Simonivic in their rotation, but personnel-wise, they performed well. They still need to trade DeMar DeRozan or Zach Lavine though if they want to improve.

Signings:

  • Nikola Vucevic – Grade: B
  • Coby White – Grade: A-
  • Ayo Dosunmu – Grade: A-
  • Torrey Craig – Grade: B

Trades:

Chicago Bulls’ 2023 NBA Draft – Grade: F

  • No. 35: Julian Phillips, F, Tennessee

The Bulls needed help at guard, a project center, and at the very least a bench shooter, but trading for an early second-rounder is not cheap, and they drafted a project small forward for the second year in a row. I hated Chicago’s draft.
