College Draft Matchup Preview: Week 3

Malaki Starks

Alabama vs. Wisconsin; Saturday, Sep. 14, 12:00 PM ET FOX

The Prospects:

Alabama
  • QB Jalen Milroe, No. 4
  • C Parker Brailsford, No. 72
  • G Tyler Booker, No. 52
  • WR Kobe Prentice, No. 6
  • WR Kendrick Law, No. 1
  • WR Germie Bernard, No. 5
  • DT Tim Smith, No. 50
  • DT Tim Keenan III, No. 96
  • S Malachi Moore, No. 13
  • CB Devonta Smith, No. 8
Wisconsin
  • QB Tyler Van Dyke, No. 10
  • RB Tawee Walker, No. 3
  • LT Jack Nelson, No. 79
  • CB Ricardo Hallman, No. 2

The Matchups:

A few years ago at Miami, Van Dyke looked like he had early-round pro potential. But then injuries, interceptions, and disappointing play led to a transfer to Wisconsin. Van Dyke badly needs an impressive game taking on Alabama to help his draft stock. Alabama has a ton of NFL talent, as usual, and it will be interesting to see how they handle a gritty Badgers team.

Oregon vs. Oregon State; Saturday, Sep. 14, 3:30 PM ET FOX

The Prospects:

Oregon
  • QB Dillon Gabriel, No. 8
  • LT Josh Conerly Jr., No. 76
  • RT Ajani Cornelius, No. 65
  • WR Evan Stewart, No. 7
  • DT Jordan Burch, No. 1
  • CB Jabbar Muhammad, No. 7
Oregon State
  • OL Joshua Gray, No. 67
  • RB Jam Griffin, No. 8

The Matchups:

There is a good draft matchup in the trenches, with Gray taking on Burch. If one of them gets the better of the other consistently, that will help their draft grade. Oregon has some good NFL prospects along the offensive line. Some team sources aid that Stewart and Muhammad intrigued them during preseason study.

Florida vs. Texas A&M; Thursday, Sep. 29, 8:00 PM ET ESPN

The Prospects:

Florida
  • QB Graham Mertz, No. 15
  • RB Montrell Johnson Jr., No. 1
  • WR Elijah Badger, No. 0
  • WR Chimere Dike, No. 17
  • G Damien George Jr., No. 70
  • OT Austin Barber, No. 58
  • DT Cam Jackson, No. 99
  • LB Shemar James, No. 6
  • CB Jason Marshall Jr., No. 3
Texas A&M
  • QB Conner Weigman, No. 915
  • OT Trey Zuhn III, No. 60
  • WR Moose Muhammad III, No. 7
  • DE Nic Scourton, No. 11
  • DT Shemar Turner, No. 5

The Matchups:

The Gator’s prospects played terribly against Miami in the season opener, and many Aggies players were disappointing against Notre Dame. It will be interesting to see if they can round into form in Week 3. The best matchups include Marshall going against Muhammad (assuming Muhammad plays after injury) and Scourton and Turner taking on George and Barber. All of these prospects badly need a good game.

Kentucky vs. Georgia; Sat, Sep. 14, 7:30 PM ET ABC

The Prospects:

Kentucky
  • DT Deone Walker, No. 0
  • LB Jamon Dumas-Johnson, No. 2
  • CB Maxwell Hairston, No. 1
Georgia
  • QB Carson Beck, No. 15
  • RB Trevor Etienne, No. 1
  • TE Oscar Delp, No. 4
  • WR Dillon Bell, No. 86
  • WR Arian Smith, No. 11
  • G Tate Ratledge, No. 69
  • OT Earnest Greene III, No. 71
  • OT Xavier Truss, No. 73
  • DE Mykel Williams, No. 13
  • DT Nazir Stackhouse, No. 78
  • DT Warren Brinson, No. 97
  • LB Smael Mondon Jr., No. 2
  • CB Daylen Everette , No. 6
  • S Malaki Starks, No. 24

The Matchups:

As usual, Georiga is loaded with NFL talent. Carson Beck is in the running to be the top quarterback prospect for the 2025 NFL Draft, and he will see some good talent taking on a tough Wildcats defense. Walker has not looked as good this season for Kentucky and must show up to help his team. His draft grade also needs a good performance while taking on future NFL offensive linemen like Greene, Truss, and Ratledge. This game will be personal for Dumas-Johnson, who is playing his former team, and he will see a talented back in Etienne. Another great matchup will be Hairston taking on Smith, as the speedster Smith is a dangerous deep receiver, and Beck has a powerful arm.
