Recently, I reported that NFL advance scouts had Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders as the highest-graded quarterback prospect on their preseason watch list. However, some in the media have projected other quarterback prospects to go higher than Sanders, with those potential candidates including Georgia’s Carson Beck, Texas’s Quinn Ewers, and Penn State’s Drew Allar. The advance NFL scouts have Allar rated second behind Sanders, followed by Beck and then Ewers.
The advance scouts have Allar checking in at 6-foot-4, 225 pounds. Allar has a powerful arm and debuted in his first season, starting in 2023. He completed 60 percent of his passes for 2,631 yards with 25 touchdowns and only two interceptions. Beck (6-4, 218) was also in his first season as a starter, and he completed 72 percent of his passes for 3,941 yards with 24 touchdowns and six interceptions. Ewers led Texas to the college football playoff, completing 69 percent of his passes for 3,479 yards with 22 touchdowns and six interceptions. The advance scouts have Ewers listed at 6-foot-2, 195 pounds.
In my latest 2025 NFL Mock Draft, I have all four going in the first round. A lot can and will change in the coming months, but entering the 2024 season, the NFL advance scouts have Allar rated second, with Beck and Ewers coming in third and fourth.
