The Clemson defense is loaded with NFL talent, and the team’s star-studded defensive line has earned a lot of attention. There are NFL athletes in the back seven as well, and one of the most hyped in that group is cornerback Trayvon Mullen. Mullen has an athletic skill set, but in watching Clemson a lot this season, Mullen has been disappointing. In surveying multiple scouts who have been through Clemson, they are down on Mullen and are projecting him as a mid-round pick.
Some in the media have Mullen going as a top-10 pick, but team sources don’t value him anywhere close to that. Three teams said they think Mullen could go late in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft. Another national scout said that they think that Mullen could end up going on the third day of the 2019 NFL Draft in Rounds 4-7. Entering this season’s college football playoff, Mullen has 25 tackles with three breakups and zero interceptions. With his disappointing play this year, every scout thought that Mullen should go back to school for 2019.
